I know many people don't even seem to care much for SNOKE due to what happened to him in EPISODE 8, but I still find him a very fascinating character.

His obsidian ring -- we all know is obsidian from beneath VADER's castle on Mustafar -- but the calligraphy/etchings on Snoke's ring is what intrigues me

TLJ Visual Dictionary tells us the calligraphy on the ring are glyphs from the FOUR SAGES OF DWARTII. The Four Sages of Dwartii are the statues in Palpatines office in the prequels. 4 different statues to represent the sages.

The sages are known for their philosophical beliefs and are apparently the 4 sages that crafted the ideals of the Republic government at the beginning of it's inception. Other than that , we don't know more about the Sages.

So why does Snoke care about these glyphs if they are from four people who are anciently renowned as the philosophers who molded the REPUBLIC's ideals? Snoke, who WAS running an imperialistic reboot (FO)obviously didn't want a Republic government as he craved to rule the galaxy. So why does he have the ring with the sages' language? The only thing I can come up with is that he found out about Sidious' and his ownership of the Sage statues and decided to look further into the 4 Sages of Dwartii . I am guessing Snoke took some of their philosophy with appreciation and decided to keep the ring due to that. Obviously Snoke is fine with going to dig up artifacts (as he has obsidian atop his ring from under Vader's castle), so perhaps he dug up some info on the Sages of Dwartii.

Snoke is just still mysterious. Even if he's dead I want to know more!

maybe it's all emblematic of things that have been conquered; failed states, the seeds of possibility that withered on the vine.

just spitballing. i agree it's intriguing! but i don't know whether it truly holds secrets that will prove relevant to the ST.

Those are good points, kind of like some artifacts and messages from the past that Snoke seemed to like. Perhaps that is all there is to it. I doubt it'll have an impact on the sequels also
