That's true- and much like we have terrifying killing machines here on Earth like crocodiles, spiders, and sharks, we also have cute cuddly things like kittens, sloths, and puppies.

I suppose it's actually be more unrealistic to not have the cute cuddlies.

As long as these things aren't hideous to look at, like Bor Gullet (shudder), or a Clumsy Smurf cranked up to an 11, like Jar Jar Binks (double shudder), then they are alright with me!

As much as I love Ewoks not repeating what critics didn't like about them is easy. I think their success against imp machines was the bridge too far. So cutie fraggle style puffin penguins might be a nice design. They could even have even have that tiny piranha type feeding frenzy style but that shouldn't hold out well against vehicles.

They don't bother me at all. It will be interesting to see what they look like on film. It is cool that they made actual puppets and they are not going to be CGI. We do have to remember that SW is still for kids and I'm sure the kids will love these. I would venture to say that currently the most ardent ewok hater, liked them as a child.

Yes. They were cartoonish. Very. They should have been puppets. Rolling like that was just goofy.

I didn't mind the Rathtars. There are sea creatures that roll on the ocean floor. I found them more real than the trash compactor puppet or the almighty sarlaac.

    Um okay. . .

Not sure what you think I was suggesting. I saw the film and was fully aware that the Rathtars rolled around on land.

I simply suggested that they felt more real special effect wise than the Sarlaac or the trash compactor monster.

I compared their method of locomotion to a real world sea creature. That rolls along the ocean floor.

Are they related in some way to the owl creatures in Rebels? And didn't Filoni once say pay attention to the owls?

Something must make a beauty over that place.
It will be nice if those creatures gather around his wife's grave. (which why I think Luke is still there).

In the Resistance Broadcast episode coming up we discussed how one of the rumored new toys involve beak masks of these things (think Chewie mask), so they'll be marketing to kids for sure, and yes Ewoks rock.

as long as these things aren't as 'silly cute' as they appear in that art.. then i'm down with it.

look, ewoks and gungans etc are in the SW universe whether we particularly like them or not.

Assuming this rumor is accurate, then i think i trust RJ to use them either sparingly or at least with littlest cheese possible.

Ewoks were great. I think the Porgs are something different though.

That was a dianoga and it was in the thrash compactor for the same reason you might fing rats in a dump. The sarlaac on the other hand was better before the special editions.
