Kylo did learn that Rey dreams of the planet that Luke turns out to be on when he interrogates her. So you could maybe write a scenario where he, or maybe Snoke, figure out that her "dreams" are actually premonitions, that they are related to Luke, and then it's just a matter of finding the right planet.

 

Yeah probably next year. I mean, hell, we haven't seen any Rogue One footage yet.

I'd guess no. Were it not for J.J. Abrams insisting on it, we wouldn't have got that First teaser for TFA when we did.
Films are rarely teased more than 4-7 months ahead of release, even for Disney.
Not a single Marvel Phase 2 film was teased more than 7 months ahead of release.
TFA was a notable exception, not the rule.
Right now, I wouldn't expect to see a teaser trailer until around celebration 2017.

i'd say teaser 1 comes out 24 hours before Rogue One, teaser 2 at celebration 2017 and Trailer 1 in Oct 2017.

Basically a copy of TFA marketing. Don't try and fix something that isn't broken

I think we can shoot for another one year first sneak peek with Rogue One then maybe a second teaser around the April-July slot before getting the main trailer in September or October. Depends on how Disney wants to market it. With Celebration Europe, it's even hard to determine when we will get stuff for Rogue One this year let alone Episode VIII stuff next year.

 

That is actually a GREAT business strategy. I hope they hold to that.

Disney is in it for the money (not a bad thing) but they also know about good content. If the product is no good, then no one will show. Simple.

 

Yeah but it would need to be altered because TFA 's strategy was built exclusively around word-of-mouth and hype .

 

Ummmm....I'm a HUGE fan, but I don't think my petty fandom made Disney release the teaser. Got any source to prove that they released it due to fan pressure? If you do, then I will pressure the FOOK out of them!!!!

with 1 film per year that's star wars related, and the ST on alternate years... i imagine there is some head scratching going on at disney in terms of when to start marketing "the film AFTER the next one" if that makes sense? it may even be a 'suck it and see' year.

i think they need to be very smart during non ST years like 2016. i think that TFA will get a huge dvd/blue ray promotion (was it april we think that's coming out?) and then it will be all Rogue one until next year.

when people start seeing teasers and trailors for R1 there will be some folk out there that are confused that it doesn't look like a follow on to TFA. it will need some clever branding.

i think that if they can keep ep8 leaks to a minimum, then we won't see a teaser till next spring, but they may need to think on their feet... as i'm sure they did with TFA.
