This film REALLY hooked me back into the Star Wars universe.

From the sheer dread, creepiness and isolation of Corellia - to the sheer artistry of the Sabacc room.. the cinematography is solid throughout. The biggest strength of the film is how it looks, despite some little visual things which I found a little corny. Dare I say it, the cinematography in this film is almost on par with ESB.

Han's dialogue, perfect. His interactions with Chewie were perfect, Lando was very good. There were a couple of moments where Donald slipped and tried a little too hard.. but there were other moments where he really nailed it.

The most important thing was achieved however.. I believed that Alden was Han. Both he and Donald were cast very well, and brought the spirits of Han and Lando into the film. They gave it their all, while knowing how much of themselves to keep intact in order to be believable.

In my opinion, the casting was very good and the acting was on point. I think Ron Howard deserves a bit of credit for that. Woody Harrelson was great, and I had no problems with Emilia Clarke.. who somehow disappeared into the role.

Better than Rogue One, Kasdan remains the best Star Wars writer.

I'm giving it a really solid 7.5/10. The entire cast deserves praise, Ron didn't phone this in.. he really got everything to click well. Just another sign that we need experienced storytellers on these films. I'd love to see Ron Howard involved in future films; especially if used as an acting coach and story adviser.

    Negative points:
    • Middle of the road, predictable action sequences
    • Editing could have been a lot tighter
    • Could have done with more characters, and a more interesting villain
    • The music wasn't memorable

Overall, a really good effort. Major props to Alden, Woody Harrelson, Chewie and Ron Howard.

I agree with you every point, including the 7.5/10 and the ‘negative’ list.

This film is solid professional work made by people who uderstand what Star Wars fans and geral public wants.
Effects are great.Atmoshphere is that of original SW.
Story plot, which is average , is weakest point but it goes smoothly, and its logical.
Acting is very good, there is no single character that acted badly while mr Glover confirms his high esteem as an actor.
All original SW characters are respected and honored.

This film is a good film. I agree clear 7.5 /10 and no petition for removing from canon for this one.;)

Agreed with most of your points, but not this one. I really enjoyed the score. On a first listening, even more than Rogue One's (which I've come to appreciate a lot).

I'm a big fan of soundtracks, and I'd love to open a thread on this topic, but I have a feeling not many people would care.
