As we get closer and closer to the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, more and more info comes to light. Today, we've learned that John Powell's soundtrack is going to add a lot of character themes and that Mark Hamill may have accidentally given away which iconic character makes a cameo in the crime-based space adventure.

In a Facebook post released by John Powell, who did the heavy lifting for composing Solo: A Star Wars Story, he revealed that aside from the Han Solo theme that John Williams contributed to, there are five other important musical themes in their score:

We also recently learned that Chewbacca got a theme as well and heard part of it in a recently-released clip. But now there are apparently four more in addition to those. Speculation time!

If I had to guess at the remaining four themes, one for Lando seems to be a given, and having it ready for this movie would be a great way (fingers crossed) to reuse it for the score to Star Wars Episode IX, presuming that Lando is in that (PLEASE DO THIS, J. J.! THE BARON OF SMOOTH MUST RETURN!) or repurpose it into a theme for 'CARO', if that character is indeed his daughter. From there, I'd imagine that it'd be a mix of themes for Qi'Ra, Samuel Beckett, L3-37, Val, Rio Durant, Enfys Nest, or Dryden Vos. If Boba Fett does, in fact, cameo in this movie, a motif for him would be fantastic - especially since Fett is supposedly in line to get a movie of his own (eventually).

And now for a bit of less official news, and perhaps something that wasn't supposed to get out. As Star Wars fans, many of us are accustomed to seeing C-3PO and R2-D2 in the saga films. When it comes to Rogue One, many of us were surprised to see that they made an appearance, although it made sense considering that it was subtle foreshadowing for the Leia cameo that closes out the film. But when it comes to Solo, fans are wondering if a C-3PO/R2-D2 cameo would add anything to the movie or if it would be distracting... And now it sounds like we'll find out how it plays out in a few weeks. In a podcast interview for ‘Cape Up with Jonathan Capehart’ (Washington Post), Mark Hamill may have let a tidbit of information slip about our favourite golden droid:

While there isn’t much to go on besides Mark’s word, we are now led to believe that yes indeed Anthony Daniels is reprising his role as C-3P0 in Solo: A Star Wars Story - or at least that he'll have a cameo outside of his mostly-golden suit (remember, one of his legpieces is discolored so that it's silver). If we are to believe Hamill, what kind appearance would Threepio have? A minor cameo? A quick walk-by in the background? We can assume that since he is given to Captain Antilles at the end of Revenge of the Sith and is still working aboard the Tantive IV in Rogue One and A New Hope that Antilles and the Tantive IV or possible Bail Organa/Leia would have some (probably unseen) presence as well? A mercy mission to Kessel? Or perhaps this is the story of how his legpiece went from being gold to silver? Personally, I don’t see how having C-3P0 in the film would make much sense, but with only a few weeks to go, we are bound to find out if this is true and if so, what Threepio is up to.

Special thanks to Austin D. (Dark-Porkins) for help on this post.

Your headline is misleading ... John Williams did not create 6 motifs!
John Powell only says Williams created 1 for Han Solo – the other 5 are from Powell himself!
