Does the prospect of seeing 6 years of Han's life hype you more or less for this film?

This is some pretty old news that just resurfaced for me, and I can't find anywhere else that it's been discussed.
    http://comicbook.com/starwars/2017/03/23/star-wars-han-solo-standalone-will-span-over-six-years/

Many months ago it was announced that Solo will cover six years of Han's life, from the ages of 18-24. He was 29 when we first met him in A New Hope, so there is still plenty of swashbucklin' & smuggling that happens between these two films.

As for the timeline that this movie will feature, it should be set in a relatively dead period of the GFFA when it comes to on-screen canon content. Rebels took place 2-5 years pre-ANH, while Rogue One was obviously immediately prior to ANH.

I'm glad that there won't be any crossover between Solo and any other film or TV series that we have already seen, and am excited for some more galaxy building. Also, it will be interesting to see how they handle some different time-jumps within a Star Wars movie, something that we really haven't seen before except minorly in Rogue One and with some flashbacks in TLJ.

All this being said, if we're truly going to see how Han becomes Han, it makes much more sense that it would happen over the course of 6 years rather than just a few days / events that can be crammed into a ~2 hour movie in "realtime." Any other thoughts? Does this make anyone more / less excited for the film?

The main reason I want to see this film, is because of the potential galaxy building elements it could entail.
No Jedi, just showing the (under)world during the height of Imperial reign.

Still, I'm afraid this film will be mostly a checking of boxes type of affair, with Han meeting Chewie, winning the Falcon, etc. Showing this with time jumps over a couple of years might be the smart move though.

Yes, seeing a little more of the galaxy under imperial rule could be cool. I'm more interested in seeing that than how Han and Chewie met. Still looking forward to seeing Donald Glover as Lando though. Cautiously optimistic over here.

Is this is what they mean as an unworkable script?

So if the movie starts when he is 18 years old, it would put us about 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. It's an interesting time period because we haven't really seen much of it - but it's also a risk. While 10 years is more than enough time for the Empire to reshape their controlled part of the galaxy into the ultimate Imperial "playground", it wouldn't hurt the film to blend some prequel aesthetics with those of the OT aesthetics.

From the looks of it, it already seems as if they're going to go down this route in some capacity, for example with the Millenium Falcon having a similar color scheme to its design in ROTS.

There's a good chance that the '18 year old' part will be brief.

If it is true that we'll see only 10 years after RoTS I hope we still see some Star Detsroyers that were originally republic cruisers like at the end of RotS.

To be fair you could say "Rogue One chronicles Jyn's life from the ages of 6-21" For all we know we'll get one scene of teen Han, followed by a little Imperial cadet Han and then the other 98% is regular full adult Han.

Thanks for the news. I didn't know that (or remember :D).
There is so much background of Han in OT and 6 years seems pretty cool to cover most of it.
Chewie, Lando, the Millennium Falcon and the modifications on it, Greedo, Boba Fett, Jabba, Kessel Run, including Sana Solo from comics.
Can't wait. I'm really curious to see what they have done.
    In Kasdan we trust, again.

I'm not totally sure yet until I've seen a teaser or something. But sounds interesting. And at the same time I'm not real hyped yet.

As one example, there is a huge "time jump" in one if the most iconic
    Indiana Jones films.
It - as always - depends on the way how it is done.
    I will - as always - sit in a theatre (3-5 times) :D

Actually I like this approach very much as it is a) something not done before in SW and b) gives us a good opportunity to see how the galaxy is evolving during the period in between RotS and ANH, with the Empire taking shape, the senate still in place and (according to the Lego Mini-Figures), the Pyke syndicate among other crime organizations.

    And I’m totally second @oldbert ‘s statement.

Thanks @DarthSnow for sharing, I was not aware of this fact yet.

(Sorry if someone has mentioned it)
Now I think of it... Six years.

No one expected to see Leia in Rogue One.
In six years we have to see a real character evolution, and obviously a physical one.
Maybe we will see a rejuvenated cgi Harrison Ford in the last scenes of the movie, covering some kind of connection with ANH, entering in the Cantina or landing in Docking Bay 94.

I've read this idea on other boards, too, and call me crazy, but in this case my first question after watching the movie in cinema would be: Well, now... when I want to watch all SW-movies again... in which order do I watch "Solo" and "Rogue One"? :D

Rogue One ended about 11 minutes before ANH and started just a few days before that. "Solo" spans his life from roughly 19-25 and he was roughly 29 in ANH. Solo comes first.

That's my thought, too. I mean, technically you could say that Rogue One spans 13 years, but the vast majority of the film seems only to last a few days.
