Ahead of the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, some new information has surfaced revealing why the Millennium Falcon looks brand-new in the movie (set only a few years later) even though it canonically appeared (however briefly) in Revenge of the Sith. In addition, while it's been clear since day one that the movie won't have a lot to do with the Force, director Ron Howard has revealed that there are connections to the Jedi and the Sith in his movie.

First up is a Twitter conversation between a fan and Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo about the age of the Millennium Falcon, and if it is a 'new' model at the beginning of Solo. Mr. Hidalgo has since deleted the tweet, as he regularly clears his social media profile after a few days, but the exchange went like this:

This certainly puts Lando's irritated 'What have you done to my ship?' remark in The Empire Strikes Back in a new light: all the spiffy bells and whistles that Lando added to the Millennium Falcon were all worn and torn off under Han's watch (though, granted, Han did install a better set of turrets). They weren't there when Lando bought the ship, he fixed her up out of his own pocket!

That's not all where Twitter background for Solo will take us today, as the director has just hinted that there will be references to the Jedi and the Sith in the movie, even though they won't be the focus.

Ages ago, it was rumored that Darth Vader might have a cameo in the film - perhaps this might be what Howard is referring to, or could the tie to the Force have to do with Han possibly smuggling some Jedi and Sith artifacts for the black market? We only have a month and a half to find out!

Or maybe Howard was just referring to Emilia Clarke's performance in Solo?

In addition to these two things, there's also one other thing worth mentioning that's been noticed by one of our fans. I didn't want to include this in the headline because I didn't want this piece to be potentially misleading, but there's speculation going around that during (what's presumably) the big Kessel Run scene in the TV spot that just hit, you can see Boba Fett's Slave I in the background:

I'm personally skeptical of this. It looks a lot like an ovoid-shaped asteroid to me than the outline of Fett's famous transport, and particularly in that last image. Aside from the shape, it's also facing in the wrong direction if it were a ship trying to cut the Millennium Falcon off, and furthermore, there's another object just like it directly below in the same frames of the trailer. However, I do think that there's a real chance that we'll see Boba Fett in the film itself, based on circumstantial evidence with the merchandise, the presence of some Mandalorian imagery in the second trailer, and some unconfirmed buzz that I've come across. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't count Fett out of the movie just yet, but at the same time, keep your expectations for the big chase scene to strictly be between the crew of the Millennium Falcon, the Empire, and whatever massive tentacle-horror-beast is able to live inside what appears to be a space-hurricane. (And hey, that's all pretty cool on its own, right?)

Considering I have several Cantina wagers on this movie, one of which is the term "The Force" will not be said.....looks like I am in trouble on that one!

And it baffles me that people are putting so much weight into a 1 second blip of a blurry Yt-1300 in the lower right of the screen of ROTS.....

The Flannelled One said that "Yes, that's the Millennium Falcon." - and that's the only reason why this question has been asked. Because it's canon.

While I agree that The Flanneled One has the last word on canon, I think it'd be reaallly silly to let that tiny, half-second cameo dictate what happens in Solo. If such little cameos really had an impact on the overall picture we'd have "E.T.: A Star Wars Story", "Dude From N'Sync: A Star Wars Story" and "Potato and Basketball Shoe In Asteroid Field: A Star Wars Story".

I didn't actually come up with that one. Don't remember who did. (Darthipedia, maybe?)
