Some thoughts I had on Rogue One

Maybe... Not sure they'd go that route as it would seem to imply at least a more prominent role for a Leia lookalike, which I think they'd choose to avoid for various reasons.

In my personal opinion it'll probably end up with a handoff of the documents to some Rebel officials (maybe even Jimmy Smits) with the Tantive IV visible in the background, and maybe a very brief shot of the Leia lookalike from afar. Or possibly a successful transmission of the data and then everyone dies, I dunno.

Would be kind of neat to see a recreation of the Imperials capturing the ship from a different view, though.

 

This should be the ending of Rogue One:

A longer hunting scene between the Tantive IV and the Star Destroyer would be awesome!
Movie should stop when Darth Vader enters the Tantive IV or when Luke looks up in the sky and watching the two ships fighting each other.

It should end with Palpatine telling Vader to "Retrieve the Death Star plans and destroy all who stand in your way."

 

It pretty much depends on what Lucasfilm wants this film to be.

If it's going just to be a prequel film to ANH ("...to be continued") I'd say Cdr. Ed Straker is spot on (and I'd love to see these deleted Tatooine scenes or at least part of being remastered in HD) ;-)

But if it's supposed to be a film to stand on its own feet they might be compelled to show the Death Star's superweapon in action, maybe destroying Alderaan or even the Death Star's own demise.

 

Liked @Cmdr. Ed Straker options to end the movie, both Vader ship capturing Leia's Ship and Luke watching from bellow are good scenes and should be in the movie but the real ending should be the firing of the Death Star causing plenty of casualties, demonstrating that all the plan failed and The Empire succeed to create a super Weapon of Mass Destruction.

 

i'm really doubting rogue one will dip into Episode IV at all.. the whole premise of Rogue One is to stand on its own, without relying on any saga films or material.. i would bet that no events/characters seen in the PT or OT will show up in rogue one.

 

Then whats the point of R1? We all know the plot, steal the plans of the death star. The characters dont tie into SW saga. I understand that R1 is to stand on its own but it plot is relying on the OT. None of the characters are going to be relevant so the movie really is pointless. its like a side mission in GTA. DIsney likes doing side movies. Lion King 1/2. its like watching tinkerbells adventures. They have to give the plans to Leia. Nobody will talk about the characters when its done cause they are not mention in ANH. atlease with Rebels they have to end before ANH cause there is no other Jedi's. What is the crew of R1 do when its completed, go to the cantina and drink and part ways. this aint oceans 11. Now if R1 was the cast of Rebels then it would factor in. but its not over and have 1-2 more seasons. R1 should be the battle of Jakku or Luke's failed academy/Ben/KOR/Snoke.

I think Rogue 1's narrative arc has to be focused on its characters and it would be odd to have all them gone and then the finale be based around a different ship and different people (the whole fact that the plans were beamed aboard makes it hard for any of the Rogue 1 cast to on the Tantine IV and ending with scenes from a different point of view). I suspect either the 'beaming the plans to the Tantine IV causes the Imperials to switch targets and that saves the Rogue 1 crew, a kind of bittersweet ending of 'will they get away - it's out of our hands now' or the Imperials miss the 'switch' pursue the Rogue 1 crew, dark ending when the crew are captured, but then the Imperials realise the plans have got away and start working out where the Tantine IV went.....

 

The ending should be a classic swipe or whatever it is done usually to end to black and blue credits .

 

I really wish Cade Bane was a major player in Rogue One. Can't think of a better asset to have along on your space caper.

 

Because of the plot and time frame, it has to tie into Ep 4. However, they can do it in an indirect way that keeps the story somewhat separate. If you read Battlefront, Twilight Company, Freed does a great job of keeping his story separate even thought it takes place during Ep4-5. One scene in the book at the main character talking to a "freighter pilot" at Echo Base. You get the feeling it's Han but the name is never mentioned. Ending R1 with the plans simply transmitted implies the known result.

 

Would he still even be alive though ?

Maybe it jumps a few years later at the tail end of R1 and we see a derelict ship from the main characters of R1 parked in the hangar...we see Vader at the deck yelling at everyone to "capture that ship at all costs." we see the ship get pulled up into the hangar with the R1 ship right next to it with Vader saying something like, "we won't let them escape THIS time" implying that R1 characters COULD have survived but then it cuts to VADER entering the star destroyers while playing the same music from the end of ESB with cuts of Vader boarding the tantive IV , LEIA giving threepio and ARTOO a the plans for the rebel alliance and then we see the pod escaping from the destroyer bridge POV , and then the end would be cutting back to the destroyer as its leaving Tattooine and swipe to the credits .

why not? he's an alien. Average lifespan could be 400 years for all we know.
He's still well known enough 5 years before Star Wars. sabine has him and embo painted on the wall of her quarters in rebels

 

I wonder why his head looks like a mushroom cloud which could be telling of his fate if he's not been seen in "Revels" yet .

Ooooh, that's one of the sexiest things I've heard in a long, long while! I have a hangup on the posibility of seeing deleated scenes and cut performances from the OT reinstalled into the saga somehow (for instance, I would much rather they reuse lost Peter Cushing scenes from ANH than filming someone else in the role), and having the original Luke's opening somehow included in Rogue One would be amazing! That said, I have a heard time seeing how that would fit into the story and not feel random & arbitrary; it would, however work brilliantly as a post-credit extra. Please, Disney/LFL, make it so!

 

I would also love to see Bossk there as well!

It would be awesome to see a few Bounty Hunters in action in RO. Especially those that we know but who have never been seen in action like Zuckuss and 4-LOM.

 

My initial reaction was good. I'm not as excited as I was for The Force Awakens - because that was the film that brought Star Wars back to life in full swing!

But I love how gritty and dark R1 looks. I loved the original Stormtroopers! I love the AT-AT's. I love the interiors (some of which was filmed in Canary Wharf Underground Station in London near where I live!). This film just already feels Star Wars.

I'm so glad Disney own Star Wars..

I like this, its something we havent seen before.. i have a big problem with Cameos in movies so i dont wish to see that whole "Help me Obi Won" bit.

but i think what we saw on the Teaser, the part with the dish moving onto the Death Star will be the final scene of the movie.. it justs has that feel about it. (IMO)
