    Came across this article today.

    "Star Wars: Any studio would have lost josh trank and rian Johnson to this, it's freaking Star Wars. Your After Earth writer Gary Whitta is writing Gareth Edwards stand alone Star Wars film. Simon Kinberg is writing Josh Tranks. No one knows what they're about but Boba Fett is rumored to be the subject of one. Rian Johnson as you know is doing the main ones, episodes 8 and 9 of the Luke and Leia story lines, after JJ. Not sure anything is gained by looking at what Lucasfilm is doing except we are stalking all these people too, except Whitta whom I think blows.”

    Isn't Disney planning on taking the line up to Ep 12? This would follow Disney's current model with Marvel. Could be Disney saw too much $$$ in the old cast so will flush out more of their back story in 8-9. Then paving the way for the new cast to take on 10-12. Folks complain to this day of Ep 1 being too rushed or not taking place with teenage Anakin. They could be taking a more Jackson LOTR approach to this darker saga.
    Or... Maybe it's in reference to a potential spinoff?
    Or... the Exec could just be a non SW fan and just misworded what he heard.

    SpoilerMan or Bro said there would be SW movies every year from 2015-2031. Besides the alreaady announced trilogy and spin-offs there are rumored to be a The Old Republic trilogy, and Episodes 10-12, as well as spin-offs evey year inbetween.
    SpoilerMan or Bro has been proven to be false to my knowledge to I would take this with a boulder of salt.

    It was Spoiler Bro that laid this lineup out (for details as to what the movie schedule was, see this post), and I still wouldn't pass that off as BS just yet.

    SpoilerMan blew himself out a couple of times by quoting trips that he previously claimed were fake, posting fake script screencaps, and trying to pass off fanart as concept art (not to mention the baseless attacks against other sites reporting on Star Wars news, including the ones that disagreed with him). Conversely, the only thing "debunking" Spoiler Bro specifically was that he claimed that DICE would show off the new Battlefront at The Game Awards 2014. They didn't, but they did show off Battlefield: Hardline (perhaps he had just heard that DICE was going to unveil a project they were working on and presumed it was Battlefront).

    I'm giving Spoiler Bro more of the benefit of the doubt considering that what he has said is less contradictory than what SpoilerMan said, and because he provided some concrete evidence that he really was involved with Lucasfilm.

    I cannot believe that any professional person would use a phrase like "whom I think blows" in his business correspondence, especially about a colleague.

    That said, I think these executives have rumors and tentative storylines only. I doubt they even know the real storyline of TFA.

    I get the feeling that with the $50M settlement, they do have plans for Leia to be in the movie regardless of Fisher's absence. It doesn't make sense that they would ask for that much money if she couldn't appear in the third movie.

    I wish they had filmed 8 and 9 back to back.

    But without knowing specifics we don't know how prominent her role was. I'd assume big but we aren't gonna know for awhile unless they share something soon.

    i think a lot depends on whether the "leia goes into a coma after an attack" rumour is solid. That leaves a door wide open for IX

    Also, IIRC, there is still a lot of confusion about extended roles for TFA characters after a Johnson rewrite or whether tran/del toro are still very large roles.

    If it is, a big leia role that is, i can see them going down the visual effects route. Even though i'm not too thrilled with that possibility, it might be impossible to write her out now Rian is in full edit mode. If she is weaved throughout the whole movie, how else do they do it?

    I wouldn't panic, they have an entire year to make changes. On top of that, all we have are rumors where the story is concerned, and, like it or not, through the magic of CGI, Carrie Fisher can be made available.

    I don't think they'll CGI her into episode IX - there would be a big out cry about it from a segment of the fan base. You can't do it so soon after her death.

    I think they'll either re-write or re-edit VIII so that she dies in the movie or there will be a scene early on in IX where the character dies.

    I think she'll be CGI'd in just enough for her to make a tasteful exit, so as to not tarnish Leia or Carrie's legacy as the character. I wouldn't mind seeing Leia decide to head out into the Unknown Regions or even out of the galaxy- she always was a trailblazer, after all, in one way or another. I'd be bawling my eyes out, seeing Leia head out into the galaxy one final time.
