    Relax! If John Williams can't finish scoring the ST we have plenty of other greats to choose from.

    There's that guy that did Warhorse.

    Or that dude who did Fiddler on the Roof.

    How about that guy who scored Saving Private Ryan?

    Or that guy who did Jaws. Or Close Encounters. Or E.T. And Jurassic Park. And Superman. And Raiders of the Lost Ark. And Harry Potter. And all their sequels.

    See? Plenty of great talent out there!

    I don't mind hearing early clips, I'm just hoping the track titles don't give too much away, too early.

    I've stopped hoping for anything when it comes to Willams and Star Wars. I threw a fit when it was first heard that there would be an electric guitar in AotC. My younger and less wise self swore that Williams had "jumped the shark". He was clearly too old to know what made a good SW score anymore. Now, although AotC is my least favorite SW movie, it holds the #2 spot for SW scores just behind ESB.

    Point being. In Williams I trust. No matter what instrumentation. No matter what the content. He has never delivered a poor SW score. So, I'm just looking forward to whatever the master decides to give me. I never expected another Williams SW score. So this is all gravy. Just trying to enjoy it.

    Williams will write in sync to a near final edit. The screen in the back faces just the conductor so that he can conduct in time to a time coded work print to sync to the images.

    Some people on the JWFan message boards are raising concerns about how none of the images of the scoring sessions include John himself. Bringing up that he may be having back problems...

    This is where I actually have some real knowledge;

    Williams is there, he is healthy and scoring away. A good friend of mine is one of the violinists. He has worked with Williams countless times.

    I once played in an orchestra who's conductor was 98.....he was brilliant and reminded me of Yoda. Music keeps people young and Williams is still spry and inspiring.

    Not sure about your source, but someone in the JWFan forums posted this:

    Today I was stoked when I spoke to a friend involved with recording Star Wars Force Awakens with John Williams this week over at Sony scoring stage. I’m told he’s a brilliant musician and conductor to work with, though Bill Ross (aka William Ross) was doing the majority of the conducting. Which is no surprise, as Bill worked with John Williams on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Bill is an incredible talent too, and a super nice guy. When I was a recent college graduate trying to figure out how to work as a composer, Bill invited me over to his studio and chatted with me.

    Also, of note, MSW has removed all of their behind the scenes pictures from the scoring sessions...
