Looking at the recent photo leaks, I've definitely been getting a goth vibe, (other than the horse-goat Finn is on). Do you think they might be setting us up for some big scares?

I don't think they'd ever introduce a truly horror type aspect to it ...

I really dig the Bela Lugosi vibe some of the characters have. I don't think it's going to be a horror thing, though. I think they're continuing with Dubrovnik's Eastern European vibe in the costume design. I love the thought of a swanky Space Casino in Space Monte Carlo.

i've been avoiding the Dubrovnik photos and spoilers like the plague, but it does sound interesting that there would be a creepy vibe to all that.

I'm just thinking at least something that makes you jump, like Leia alone in the falcon on that asteroid. That made me jump out of my seat! Of course, I was ten :-D

I don't know about anything that would make you jump, but the costumes give off cross between Bella Lugosi's Dracula and the Hunger Games.

Well the look and feel of Episode 8 looks nothing like we've seen before. That's really interesting. It's like they are going gothic this time around. I think that people that were waiting for a darker Star Wars episode might get well served this time. What we've seen so far, is really sober in tone.

Don't forget that what we're seeing so far isn't even close to scratching the surface .

I don't really get Gothic vibes so much as I get swanky aristocratic vibes from the extras we've seen so far. The leads me to suspect that the planet shown is Chandrilla, the home world of Mon Mothma, also, it was the planet where the New Republic was formed in the canon novel Aftermath.

Wait I thought the new republic was primarily in Hosnian Shstem according to TFA which is why it was destroyed so then wouldn't Chandrilla also be destroyed ?

I could see how you would think that, but the reason it was in the Hosnian system at the time of the film was because the Senate now periodically votes on where to move the capital of the New Republic, so it changes from time to time.

This. Chandrila (Mon Mothma's home planet) was the seat of Senate in Aftermath. At some point it was moved probably to other systems only to end up on Hosnian Prime in TFA.

The Art of TFA says that at one point the "Jedi Killer" was going to "eat sun matter. He's in his meditation chamber, the sun energy comes into the room, and he grasps and eats whatever power that is." Maybe this has something to do with why Snoke had Starkiller Base built?

What if a sun has something to do with the power of the cosmic force? After all, the 'Force Planet' was littered with copious amounts of light and other energy forms. Perhaps, the idea involved a being that 'feasted' on the force, in an effort to attain greater power more quickly. The force is an energy source after all.

Could it possibly be Corellia? I know it might not exactly gel with the portrayal of Corellia in the Legends continuity, but the stuff I've seen screams "affluent sea-side settlement," like a Monte Carlo or something. And for some reason, I can see Han coming from a Monte Carlo planet. So maybe this is less "vampire clothes" and more "Corellian fancy-dress." Bela Lugosi's Dracula was technically dressed in what at the time was considered ostentatious formal clothing. Maybe this is the equivalent of Corellian funeral clothes?
