@thehiredgun This is awesome stuff! I do have one question. It seems like after the TIE crashes on Jakku, Poe drops off the storyboards and the story focuses on Rey and Finn. Maybe I missed it in the slides, but how do you think he'll get off Jakku?

 

MSW reported that there is a scene where Finn and Rey need to decide what ship to steal and that they end up stealing the MF because their first choice didn't suit there needs. Someone speculated that the other ship might only have room for one person and that it could be the ship Poe uses to leave Jakku.
I think this is a key part of the plot that is missing.

Great Job! If that's the movie I'd be very happy. Both versions of the 3rd act work.

 

One thing that I think you imply, if not outright state, early on that I really like... Finn is a really bad shot - on purpose. He doesn't agree with the brutal orders he has received from his commanding officers and so he is deliberately missing to allow the villagers to survive. It kind of explains his motives and the apparent discrepancy that a potentially force-sensitive individual would be so bad with a blaster.

However, while on board the MF you indicate again that he is still not a very good shot while manning the turret. I think I like it best if he is a bad shot on purpose early on, but is much better as the story develops because he actually believes in what he is fighting for.

 

Rey does move an X wing by that big pig in the concept art so she does help him get off. Theforce.net has a similar storyboard on their site from like 3 months ago (edited with new trailer stuff last month). Just this dialogue is different and a few things a different. That storyboard direction is the same.

 

Nice work. I still don't think Han dies, however I will point out that if Kylo thinks or purports himself to be Darth Vader, then there is no way the film ends without a confrontation with Luke. Now if all of that is bantha poodoo then all bets are off. If Kylo is Han's son I severly doubt he dies in this film even more. This would be a parrellel to what see in Empire and Jedi and by killing Han you are throwing away the whole plot line of father and son too early in my opinion. I go back to what was actually stated. Too many people have assumed the phrase "kylo silences the conversation forever" to mean Han dies. There are 10,000 other ways to silence this conversation without Han dying.

 

I gave you a medal for this but I feel like I should say outright that this is very impressive. Whether or not it pans out, this is a really impressive piece of work and you've clearly thought hard about how to string all the pieces into a narrative. Getting it into a balance 3-act structure is no easy task and you have done it well here.

 

I would second this. Though there are a couple things I disagree with where you exercised your creative authority, it was your creation so authority all you want.

This was the most entertained I have been since joining the site a couple months back.

 

So I have carefully read this again. I've got a couple of questions about Poe, I don't think these can be answered because as far as I know we don't have the answers. But let me know if I missed something.
- How does Poe get from Jakku to the forest world?
- When does Poe fly the black xwing? Does he even fly it? In one of the behind the scenes photos he is seen with the black xwing to his back as if he just arrived in it. Is the black xwing in Jakku and that's how he gets to the forest planet?
- What xwing is he flying during the Teaser #1? Is this xwing number 3? Number 1: Blue xwing that he uses to get to Jakku, eventually destroyed by the troops during the slaughter in act one. Number 2: Black xwing that he uses to get to forset planet? Number 3: Xwing that he uses in the final battle. So many xwings!
- When does the shot of the xwings in teaser 1 happen? He has some sort of scar on his face and seems pissed. Does this happen after the weapon is used?
- When does the shot of the xwings in teaser 2 happen? The mood is different. The sky is clear and he has no visible scars. Does this happen before the weapon is used?
- Where does Poe go after the first order uses the weapon? Does he retreat or does he keep pushing?
