I'm glad you said it first, I was hoping boxing would have been included but no picks.

Agreed it's more about the money more than the fan's crave for fights that should happen but never do.

That and the amount of belts for every division and the way they strip fighters of them is also ridiculous!

Do you watch UFC? Those fights are way better than Boxing is nowadays and only getting better.

It wasn't the money that killed Boxing, it was the new super gloves that stop almost all the impact from the blows.

With all the safety procedures in making and using the new big and soft gloves the impact in boxing change plenty, you don't get direct hits from blows but your brain get so mess up during one fight that you end up really bad after the fight.

One hit from a fist will smash up your face completely but the one who gived the punch will break a couple of fingers and will not be able to move his hand for a while, punching with gloves protect the hands of the hitter but reduce the damage caused on the target. The old 10 once gloves were mean, today everybody uses the 16 or even 20 onces wich take way too much killing power from the punches.

Boxing Weight Divisions are a good thing and are meant to protect the fighters from suffering severe injuries from much more heavier hitters.

UFC and those so called "Mixed Martial Arts" are pure rubbish, watch "European Super League" for Kick Boxing or any Muay Thay fights from "Lumpini" (please search the internet and give yourself a big threat).

I practiced Martial Arts my entire life, starting very young with Karate (Shotokai first and then Gojo Ryu) and can honestly say that UFC fights are just silly from a martial athlete point of view, those guys are not figthers and they know nothing about any kind of martial art i know and i practice plenty of them over the years. Facts about Martial Arts proving UFC very wrong:

    - In Martial Arts there's very few types of fist attacks, a few dozens, but you have many hundreds of defenses for any of those attacks (in any martial art one attack lead to a defense and those lead to another attack and so on, martial art fights are just like Ballet or Hollywood Movies, and you know you aren't fighting when hollywood do it better than you, have you ever seen any of those martial artist perform a defensive move, defensive moves are at least 70% of Martial Art Training)
    - Punching a guy when he's on the ground after you grab him is so, SO, stupid and UNREAL (any grapling martial art is devastating when they get a hold on someone, they will never, ever, let you go out of their hands and they can bent you in ways you don't even believe it's real, why would a grapling guy leave you and tried to start to punch you on the ground if he could easely and safely finish you off in seconds with submission holds? In Karate, of any form even Kung Fu, grabbing it's not an issue because in real life you can only grab someone weaker than you and if an heavier guy grabs you its just over)
    - The Hitting power on this guys is ridiculous, they can't it a little bird (in Martial Arts the Hitting power is a Very Big Thing, and we train all our lifes to be able to put a guy down with a snigle hit, japanese martial arts power training is something absurd, and you get guys with 80+ years capable of hitting a wall down with one finger, the UFC dudes hit above 100 times the other guy and he keep standing tall, ridiculous and a complete embarassment to any martial artist)

Personally i consider those "Mixed Martial Arts" a Bravato thing, a machismo demonstration not an actual fighting system, their system is wrong because of the base they came from, Wrestling is a good sport but it's not a fighting system, when you're attacked on the streets going grab someone and go full nelson or slam on him its not the best idea and Wrestling it's built to hit someone just to establish whos the strongest. The militaries have produced several great fighting systems but their base to work is the true Martial Arts, the Karate and Kung Fu variations, just like "Krav Maga".

So I take it you don't like it lol. I actually do watch Muy Thai, K1 and most combat sports when I see them on. UFC does have its flaws, scoring system being a big one, but to say they don't have Martial Arts skills is pretty silly. There are multiple Muy Thai champs, Karate and Tae Kwon Do champs as well. I agree wrestling is too heavily used, but your claim that it isn't used in street fights is also silly. People may not use half nelsons and holds like that in street fights, but double legs and slams are in a lot of street fights!!! Watch a World Star fight compilation and watch how many of those Street Fights have wrestling moves in them!

To me Wrestling is a Sport not a fighting system, just like Judo, and those UFC fights i've seen remind me alot of Wrestlers trying to Boxe and very poor excuses of Jiu Jitsu, really lame Jiu Jitsu practicioners.

And talking about Martial Art Champions, everytime someone try to promote a Karate Champion, they are lying because there are no Karate Championships, only competitions of Shukokay and Shotokan variations wich receive the term Karate Championships by them, but Shotokan is the lowest form of Karate available and those competitions are a little weak to say the least, just consider that Chuck Norris is a 4 or 5 time Winner. Any other Karate practioner wont considerate those. Muay Thai and Savate Kickboxing or Full Combat don't have championships at all, they have fights like Boxing but don't have champions, could have guys that won specific tournaments but not champions. Only Tae Kwon Do and Judo have regular and organized championships. There's also a Jiu Jitsu Championship and an Aikido kind of master tournament.

This is Sage Northcutt's trophy room. He's "supposedly" a Karate and multiple other discipline champ that fights in the UFC. Looking at this I would say he is a champ of something!!! Even if it's a tournament that they win, they are the champ of that tourney?

I understand that a lot of the traditional fighting styles don't have championships, but to dismiss someone's background in a fighting style because they don't use the traditional sense of the fighting style in UFC or other MMA promotion isn't acceptable. MMA you have to adapt and use multiple fighting styles as one, there are very high level BJJ practitioners in the UFC that have won the Abu Dhabi tourney which is respected as the best BJJ tournament there is.

I respect that you don't like it and your reasons for not liking it are valid enough. But you can't say the fighters don't know Martial Arts because most of them hold belts (like brown, black....not championships) in many fighting styles.

Almost all of those trophies are from fights win, i know them, everytime you win a Kickboxing fight you receive one trophy just like those, any average fighter will receive a couple of them a year.

But you are right, despite having our divergences on the subject we do agree on liking the Martial Arts. I APOLOGISE if i said anything that offended you or your beliefs in any way. Let's just agree on disagree.

That being said, i tend to consider MMA a blatant excuse for martial arts simply because that's nothing compared to what i've trained and learned along all this years and even good Karate Fighters i know fighting on MMA don't do very well, for example Mirko CroCop and Alexey Ignashov are very good KickBoxers but can't fight without kicks.

I started training Shotokai Karate-Do very young with true LEGEND, Master Tetsuji Murakami, what he could do was something just mindblowing, comparing him with those "MMA Champions" only in jokes (not intended to joke or offend anyone)

Not offended at all, I just know a few pro fighters and have to defend their honor so to say. The guy who won all those trophies actually was in a commercial peddling light sabers..so it all comes full circle to what we love...>STAR WARS!!!

I would love to see some videos or pics of you fighting or accomplishments!!!

If you like Martial Arts, just check "Silat" or "Pencak Silat" in the Net, it's the Indonesean variation of Kung Fu but it's just wicked and twisted as hell. Almost everybody in the Karate World consider it the deadliest form of fighting but nobody talks about it.

    Sorry but no.

Football is named Football since 1863.

Football is the most played sport in the world.

Football comes form kicking the ball, foot in the ball. (i don't even know what soccer means or were it comes from)

Why should it be called other thing?

    (fact check: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_football)
