    One thing I've wanted to know is how all the names for the Star Destroyers are come up with from a story-telling point-of-view? For example, the Devastator, the Avenger, the Finalizor, Super Star Destroyer Executor, Supremacy?

    Avenger was the first individual Star Destroyer name introduced in ESB, Executor in The Art of ESB and Devastator in the 1981 ANH radio drama and Dauntless for the Star Destroyer hovering over Jedha city in the Rogue One Visual Guide.

    TBPH I could never stand these conjectural names various EU authors came up with, the name finding methodology seemed to suggest that names with an "-er" or "-or" ending would fit rigid Imperial name finding.

    Eventually I found out that during the production of ESB the Star Destroyer names mentioned in the various drafts were Vengeful, Avenger and Executor.
    So if Vengeful was a sustainable Star Destroyer name, the same obviously applies to Dauntless.
