My ps4 pro (nor does it play 4k digital, at least I believe) doesn't have a 4k physical player. This would certainly convince me to get one. *I do have a 4ktv*

I have the One X and PS4 Pro. The Pro doesn't support 4k blurays (it doesn't have a 4k player, so they can't just do a firmware update to enable it, which is a huge mistake by Sony IMO) but it can stream 4k HDR content. Honestly, I would look into getting the XBOX One S to play 4k movies. It's still one of the best cheaper 4k players. With the One X out and about phase into the their next gen next year, I'm sure you can find one used pretty cheap. When it comes to 4k movies, I'll take physical 4k media over 4k streaming any day of the week.

I would happily buy a nice big box set. Ideally with the various multiple versions of the older films (I-VI).

I have a Sony UBP-X700 and I love it. It takes a bit to configure all of the settings for optimal picture and sound, but once you get it all set up it does a great job of playing 4K discs and it has Dolby Vision. It's actually better than the X800. You can find better blu-ray players, but they cost a whole lot more.

nice. I never really had the need to own a standalone player. My video game consoles i've owned over the years allowed me to play the various multimedia. PS2 for dvds, PS3 for blurays, PS4/XBOX One for blurays, then upgraded to the One S when I bought my 4k tv due to it being the cheapest 4k player out at the time and now I use the One X for my 4k playback.

I loved using my PS3 and PS4 as a blu-ray player, but needed to upgrade when I got a 4K HDR TV. Does the X-Box play discs with Dolby Vision or can it only stream content in Dolby Vision?

I've found the richer colors from Dolby Vision and/or HDR-10 to be more significant than the upgrade to 4K resolution.

XBOX One S and the One X can play HDR-10 (Not the regular XBOX One). As for Dolby Vision, both systems have that capabilities (an update came out late last year) but it only available for select tvs and only used for streaming from my understanding. My tv doesn't support Dolby Vision, so that's not a factor for me but the full range HDR-10 looks great.

Some may be able to see the difference between HDR-10 and Dolby Vision, but I can't. There's so many technical aspect right now, it's hard to keep it all straight. Not sure if I am even seeing HDR-10 on my TV or something called forced-Dolby Vision.

Those colors though, am I right? The Last Jedi is just a gorgeous looking movie in 4K HDR! Solo too! I can't wait to see Rogue One and The Force Awakens get the same treatment.

As for the Original Trilogy, I can't deny my true desire is the unaltered original versions. Even if they release the special editions, I hope they at least did a proper color corrected restoration.

There's definitely a disturbance in the Force. Something is coming.

I'm not too sure about doby vision either. I do know hdr can make or break a 4k bluray. One thing I like about the One X. It tells you if HDR is on or not, not sure if your player does the same? Also some tvs have hdr turned off by default, but you can turn it on in your settings. I know I had to do that with my tv.

I agree with you, can't wait to see what they have in store. I have a feeling that they may wait until Episode 9 come out on bluray and release a box set or something.

I've read Dolby Vision is better, but both look great to me. The other thing that makes a big difference are TVs with full array auto dimming.

It's crazy to think I used to watch an old VHS of Star Wars that I recorded off HBO. I remember trying to get the antenna just right when I watched TV so the picture didn't roll. Now we can instantly stream almost anything at incredible resolutions.

I had to do a lot of configuring to get the best picture and sound. A lot of googling too. But I think I’ve got the TV, surround sound, and blu-ray player set up nicely now. Weird things like having to go into the settings for each individual HDMI port and turn on HDR. The effort is worth it though. When the Dreadnought shows up in The Last Jedi, it almost looks 3D.

I'd love to see the Original Trilogy this way. I hope they went back to the actual negatives or one of these pristine prints I've read are floating around. I hope they get all the colors corrected and release the Originals along with the special editions.

I wonder what the box will look like? I'd like a mini R2 with drawers that slide out with the discs in them, lol. Probably will just be a normal box or digibook. Maybe some new steelbooks? New special features? I'd love a documentary similar to Empire of Dreams that covers the entire Sequel Trilogy.

I'm a frugal person, but I will enjoy every aspect around this release if true, from early anticipation and pre-ordering to delivery, opening, and then talking with everyone else about it.

I agree with you - I also wish my PS4 Pro supported 4K Blu-Rays. And standalone 4K Blu-ray players are still too expensive, so it does make the Xbox One a more attractive option. But for me, there is one big problem with this: the PS5 seems to be on the horizon, and it might support 4K Blu-Rays. Since the Star Wars 4K discs aren't even out yet, it might make more sense to wait.

Yeah, I would most def hold out until the next gen to come out. End of 2020 or early 2021 isn't that far off. Besides you may catch a deal on the box set when ever it realeases.

I think the art for those covers is lovely, shame about the (IMHO) ugly banners at the top and bottom. I guess some black card and glue would fix them though :)

I hope the UK gets similar art. I wonder if there will be steelbooks too? (*feels poor wallet wince*)

They don't look too bad. Unless there's a new transfer or new special features, not much reason for me to buy them again in September. I'm hoping the inevitable 4K set uses the original poster art.

I'm still hoping the unaltered versions of the Original Trilogy will be included.

I could be wrong but I suspect you're not the only one... :D

I have always thought we would do eventually. But I don't know if now is the time.

I already have the bluerays of TFA and TLJ. From this list I'll probably buy only the BR of TPM.
Would like to buy the theatrical version of the CT but it seems that they wont be release them.
