SPECULATION Star Wars 9 Casting Call Teases New Female Lead

YEAH. I saw this too. I wonder how big the part is.

Even with Leia, Holdo, and Phasma gone....it looks like Episode IX will still have a number females.

Caro may be either Resistance or First Order.........or dare I say it....A Knight of Ren. Though if 18 is the YOUNGEST they're looking for, I doubt it.

 

My guess is the "strong will" part of this character will likely help replace Leia since she was the true leader. This way you can squeeze in another women and let Poe do his thing as a warrior.

 

I wonder if there have been any chemistry tests yet and if so, who with?

 

Its makes sense were getting new faces in Episode IX and i expect a full cast to be annouced around June 2018 either way im excited for Episode IX

 

She sounds like she would fit the bill quite nicely.

Why is it that every potential cast member of African descent has people contemplating on whether he or she is related to Lando?

 

Why is it every time a British girl is cast she must be related to Obi-Wan?
Why is it every time someone older is cast they must be Ezra?
Why is it every time someone ANCIENT is cast they must be Plagieus?

Because speculate recklessly is what Star Wars fans do best.

Why do we need another lead? Why? I thought Rey was our main character. Why must this be so incredibly convoluted, keep it simple and develop the characters you have, maddening. This is looking worse and worse the more I hear about it.

 

Because you need characters.
After TLJ, we are thin on characters. You could run with what we have but at the same time, people complained about that with TLJ. That it was too small in scope.

A lead in a movie doesn't mean she will have tonnage of screen time or dialogue. Holdo could technically be considered a lead. It's basically just a named character who will have *something* to do.

 

My only concern with this is that, if they keep adding more “lead” characters, the focus of the film will stray too far away from the previously established leads of this trilogy whose stories need to be closed by the conclusion of this film. The death of Carrie Fisher has left it up to the new characters to carry the weight of Episode IX, which could be a good thing because the old guys have inevitably overshadowed them in a large portion of this trilogy so far. (That’s not to say the new characters can’t hold their own, though, because I think they do.)

If this character is supposed to take on a leadership position in lieu of Leia’s absence, though, as some others have suggested, I really think they’re better off to given Lieutenant Connix a more prominent role alongside Poe, who was obviously set up to take over as the leader of the Resistance in The Last Jedi. Giving Connix a larger role feels like the best way to keep a part of Carrie in the film, to be honest.

That being said, you’ve got Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Chewbacca, BB-8, R2-D2 and C-3PO as major players for the Resistance, and Kylo Ren, General Hux and potentially the Knights of Ren for the First Order. There are a lot more important good guys than bad guys, especially if we’re assuming Phasma is really gone this time, so it might be interesting if they’re looking for another lead villain.

But in short, I’m totally here for them adding another character as long as they don’t take anything away from the other characters whose arcs need to be wrapped up in Episode IX.

Just as a side note, though, I am also going to be pissed if she ends up being Lando’s daughter because every black character in this trilogy has been speculated to be related to Lando (just because they’re both black doesn’t mean they’re related) and it’s a cheap way to bring Lando back. Having Kylo Ren as the son of Han and Leia is enough of a familial connection to old characters, especially because so many people are still unsure about the validity of Rey’s parentage reveal. Besides, fans need to understand that if they want the Star Wars universe to be larger than the Skywalker family and the characters that get wrapped up in their drama, then we need to stray away from everyone being related to one another. It’s becoming predictable and unrealistic.

 

Too many cooks spoil the broth.
