    Hello Cantina friends,

As some of you know, my father passed away recently (almost two weeks ago) and I found Star Wars has been of a great help to go over the grieving process.

I know that we don't know yet the true origin of Rey, and maybe there is a 0.01% probability of her being Leia's daughter. But before watching the movie, I always joked that in that case, I would be Rey and my parents would fit perfectly with the profile of Han and Leia - my mother is three years younger than Carrie Fisher, though she says she has aged better lol - and it is needless to say that I was crying in the movie theatre when I saw both the death of Han Solo and this scene in TFA. When I found out my father had become one with the Force, I identified myself truly with this scene.

Thanks a lot for all your prayers, condolences and kind words. Star Wars had helped me a lot through this grieving process and I know dwelling in fear, anger, hate and suffering just gets one closer to the Dark side.

I am pretty sure my case is not the only one and many people has found solace and consolation with Star Wars and had used the wisdom in their personal lives and grieving processes. Feel free to share if that is your case.

May the Force be with you all.

Difficult to post something with meaning here.. you just have declared everything important in best way yourself already.
In such a case hugging someone you feel deeply from heart comfortable with like in your pictures above is much better than words.

In my case PrincesslLeiaCB3 this forum and of course Star Wars had help me in keep me strong with my economy problems. It had be more than 6 months that i can not find a job. This had be VERY hard for me.I lost a lot of jobs in my life.In resume i had work around 28 years for different company BUT right now i can not find nothing. The worst case i went to a job interview and i need to pass a eye vision exam with a company to get the job.My vision was OK BUT they gave me a color test that my eyes fail...:(.Is hard to explain.I lost my chance to get this job...:(.I had keep my mind positive with my hobbies.Running 5K & 10K,riding my mountain bike and hearing music from the 80's with my vintage stereo system.Since SWTFA Star Wars had help me a lot giving back GREAT memories from my childhood.I join this forum because my love for SW and i had make a lot of NEW and GREAT friends. This forum had help me a lot giving me hope that tomorrow is another day and things can change for me and for you. That is why everyday i upload quotes just to keep my light "ON".For ALL my friends...Thank you for being my friend in this imaginary space far far away in the internet.God bless you and let the FORCE be with ALL...:).

I'm so sorry about your dad. I lost my dad a few years ago, so I can relate. I know at this point the grief probably still has the power to sneak up on you ambush you when you're not expecting it, but please be encouraged that you will get to a place where that's not the case anymore. Movies we love and characters we identify with can be so important in helping us heal, and Star Wars ultimately always has a message of hope. :) Bless you, and my prayers are with you, @PrincessLeiaCB3!

Later than late, sorry about that, but i'm sorry for your loss and all the best for you and your family moving forward. The movies we love, are like a point of light in the darkness. A happy place, a safe place in the moments we need that the most.
You are right, and wise with everyrhing you say.

May the Force be with you.

I'm still sorry for your loss but grief is very overrated. You never forget, you just learn to live with that.

BTW, he's in a better place now, he's one with the Light and there's no better place to be.

Thanks for your kind words. Time has been helping a lot. :D

Never too late, thanks for your kind words. I am reaching that point where it's easier to talk about it and reflect upon it.

Thanks a lot for your kind words. Agree, Star Wars has a beautiful message of hope and redemption and I trust he is one with the Force now.

Agree, you get to a point where you accept what happen, it is there but you learn to live with it. Merci beaucoup pour vos mots :)

I recall that day when I found out my father passed away, I was watching "Return of the Jedi", and after the immediate reaction and making the proper arrangements, just for a moment I decided to pause my immediate reality and kept on watching. I couldn't hold the tears when I saw Luke cremating his father body. Little did I know then that my father was to be cremated some days later. I can say that now without feeling tears pooling immediately on my eyes.

My sincere condolences PrincessLeiaCB3 on your loss.

I also lost my Father on 24th March 2017 and am finding the grief is happening in various ways and not yet complete I feel.

I won't hijack your thread with details about my loss but know that when I saw your post it really resonated with me as I've been finding it hard to communicate or want to be even on places like here.

I wish you the best possible path through this awful time.
