I've seen that this has become a trend, and it is very disappointing. The fact that people are driven to cheat in this way reflects how broken the system is. People will always cheat, but I honestly can't fault these people. I think the battle points system is great for heroes (a lot better than having people camp the hero tokens), but the credits/star card system is ridiculous and for me, it takes a lot of the fun out of it. I don't think everything should be handed to the player, but simply making certain abilities available in correlation to a player's base rank would have been sufficient. All this credit farming, star card crafting, mystery box stuff is a bunch of bull. It's one thing to unlock something really awesome when you feel like you've actually achieved a tangible accomplishment in a game, but to me, grinding and doing the same thing over and over to rack up those hours of gameplay which translate into credits to buy boxes that may or may not include anything worth all the time you've put into the game just isn't fun. I have no problems with the existence of the star cards or the advantages they offer, but for a franchise like Star Wars that has such a large fanbase, you are going to have a ton of casual gamers playing it that may not have hours on end to play video games. Simply put, these advantages should be more accessible.

I LITERALLY FIND MYSELF THINKING (AND MOANING ABOUT) THE SAME THING EACH TIME I PLAY ALONGSIDE THEM!

Del just shoots at...things and they pretty much just laugh at his efforts with his toy gun.

Agree hugely RE: Shriv and Lando, had so much fun listening to those guys, that felt like classic SW

I hate to always go back to the Halo franchise (which is not really fair since it's a very different animal from BF), but I can't help but think of how surprisingly helpful keeping a few marines alive to fight by your side was in that game. They actually brought the pain from time to time, taking out grunts and jackals while you dealt with the heavy hitters. They also provided a good distraction. No excuse for bad AI really in today's gaming atmosphere. Inferno Squad is more like Infant Squad in the game. I'm with you on both counts here though. Shriv was a great new character. That Lando mission was my favorite of the hero missions and probably one my top favorites in the game.

I don't think it's unfair for you to compare with Halo, especially since in Battlefront 2015, just playing offline Skirmish even on braindead difficulty (aka. 'normal') the AI still killed a few enemies and accomplished the occasional objective. Just having Inferno Squad play at BF2015 'normal' ally AI would have at least made me feel like they were not entirely useless, but Del might as well been a blind cow with a siren around his neck and an airhorn strapped to each hoof for all the use he was on cloud city. Just to have him provide cover at least once whilst I shot the AT-ST instead of letting every single stormtrooper sneak up behind me (or I expect was more likely the case; spawn in behind me) would have at least not destroyed my immersion to the extent where I'm literally pulled out of the game with disappointment and frustration at the sheer lack of any artificial intelligence on display.

    Damn I miss Republic Commando.

Still, at least we got Shriv.

Anyone on the ps4 network, add me! My id is JoeVistacious.
Let's see if you need to practice your saber techniques as you do your debating!

p.s. Go easy. I struggling to survive more than 30 seconds in the online battles. Unfortunately I haven't the time these days to hone my computer game playing skills. "I'm too old for this sort of thing".

Just a few gripes about the game (keep in mind I haven't owned a console in about 10 years and see Goldeneye on the N64 as the hay day of computer games!).

The saber battles are too wild. You can't seem to block and play defensively.
There should be different multiplayer set ups for beginners. I get pi$$ed when I join a game and some addict kills me a hundred times in a minute.
The load times are horrendous - is this normal for Ps4?
I hate having to unlock characters etc for multiplayer.
Why can't you choose maps, number of players etc - eg, customise a big multiplayer game?

I don't know about the PS4, but the load times are long on XBOX as well. I miss localized gameplay where you could just sit with your friends and go at it. Sure, everybody had that one friend growing up that was really good and killed everybody, but I feel like online matches are filled with everybody's one friend. lol. It's tough for sure if you're like me (which it sounds like you are in this sense). I get to play maybe twice a week for an hour or two at a time. There really is just no hope for players like us in a game like this. So, for now I'm just going to content myself to running around and PEW PEW-ing as many people as I can before I die in the ridiculously gorgeous environments (hey, silver linings, right?). :)

    This. Is. Exactly. Me.

Honestly, I've probably spent about 5 hrs playing online now and 4hrs 58minutes of it has been me cursing at a loading screen (mostly after being killed).
What irritates me, and I think I'm right in saying this, is that people have upgraded their characters so they're stronger, more accurate etc. So I;m shooting someone in the head for ten minutes (well, spreading lasers everywhere whilst trying to aim properly) and some nerd hits me once with a pistol shot and I'm sleeping with the fishes.

Like you say, I just want to log on with a group of friends or similar skilled people and have fun. But I have to say I am getting really irritated by that big multiplayer stuff. I tend to stick with the hero battles (4 vs 4) and am getting better at that - but like I say, it's all a bit messy.

    Damn, I'm old.

    Or, you know, bots.

Maybe we could contact the ancient aliens who brought us the ability to program AI back in 2004, because it seems that technology has been long lost to the ages.

Yep, PS4 loading times are ridiculous. The actual multiplayer format is annoying, they literally have to be in the same room to be able to play - can't play across the network with your friend at their place, tres annoying

This may be a narrow minded comment, but whatever. I think this game is crap. Utter crap.

All BF2 had to be was the first game, but bigger, with all the modes available offline, the DLC available offline, the ability to customise my character offline and a single player campaign. Put all that together and you'd have a cracking Star Wars game, online and offline. I don't think that's particularly "hard" given what can be accomplished these days.

Instead its a shallow mess saddled with needless complexity designed to satiate the online-gaming addicts and alienate the people who played Star Wars games for the last 24 years, ever since they became remotely immersive (say, X-Wing onwards).

I don't care about online multiplayer because I'm getting old and don't care to get good. My reflexes suck and I'm fine with that. Let me kill the AI and take my time. I just started another new job, I hope I'm finally on the path to a 'career', I have a mortgage, an ex-wife (who's evil), a child, I got, ya know, "stuff" in my life. Life's big, I like my escapism. When it comes to playing a computer game, I want to switch on and have fun. When it comes to Star Wars, I want to switch on and have fun. When it comes to my free time I want to "switch off" and have fun. Why is this game so complicated for something so simple? I come from the era when being a dedicated "gamer" was considered socially pathetic. And I was the gamer! Nowadays, being a hardcore gamer apparently has some kind of cred, except it's not being a gamer in the same way. A real "gamer" from 1993 gave you an excellent match in Super Mario Kart that was full of smiles and high-fives. In 2017, a real gamer is the South Park wrist-brace guy who exploits the environment and kills you within 1 second of spawning. A game should be a game. It's in the name. It should be fun, not punishment. I don't want or need a ridiculously varied array of star-cards; I want a bazooka and a grenade, I just want to play around in Star Wars and have fun, maybe just choose what I look like, shoot some lasers, most importantly enjoy a story and marvel at the scenery thinking "omg I can look around Director Krennic's toilet".

Maybe you like to think games are for the kids, but this is Star Wars, it's been around for 40 years, a lot of your market are not children and more so those who remember the Berlin Wall coming down, the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Thatcher, Reagan, VHS and Lapti Nek.

    Especially Lapti Nek.

I'm going to go there; you may have given us a campaign, and you know, thanks for that, but I feel like a battered spouse thanking them for not battering me last night. The rest of it is bollocks and the first game was better. You didn't have to do much and yet you still just sh*t the bed.

That split screen walker assault I enjoy with my son? Plus customisation and a story? That all you had to make.

You had one job Electronic Arts. One job.

And yes, like an upset parent, I'll call you by your full name.

I really enjoy this game, minus the star card progression system. The gameplay itself is very enjoyable. And for me it checks the most important box, getting a thrill every time you get to be your favorite star wars hero or villain. 8/10

Oh and btw I play video games a lot, so maybe I'm not the person to ask, but I think the game is really easy to play. I don't understand the hate. Usually top 5 on my team. Even MVP like 10% of the time.

Exactly, I miss that "escapism". I miss being able to hop into a snowspeeder on Hoth, fly toward an AT-AT, jump into the gunner position to fire a harpoon, jump back to pilot my rotations around the walker. I miss spawning as a hero and being able to basically slaughter my way through a map. I miss having an option to play offline and have stress-free fun.

Now? Now I play as a battle droid on Naboo, only to get constantly killed by some 11 year old playing as Rey. That's not fun. That's not escaping. That's just frustrating (and a bit confusing, really).

I mean, that's great and all, but you realize there always has to be a bottom 5 too, right? Sounds like you're just good, so congrats! :)

But honestly, I know that if I'd spend money on this game, I'd easily have been one of those bottom five feeding you your top scores.

Gonna ask straight up: is this game worth buying if I'm not an online gamer?

I'm intrigued mostly for the story mode and for single-player space battles. I just don't do online multiplayer. Is this game still worth the $$$ or should I just wait a year until I can get it super cheap used somewhere?

this is what i've been trying to figure out too.
i have no interest in multiplayer online stuff, so i want to know what's left and if it's worth it.
