SPECULATION Star Wars: Battlefront II General Discussion

Just some thoughts on campaign:

Spoiler: BFII Campaign and Lost Stars

Seems a lot like this is meant to be a more realized version of Lost Stars, in a way. You've got the romance (Del and Iden) the "Windrider" traitor character (Hask), the Imperial loyalist (Iden's father) and the events on Jakku occur pretty similarly to how they do in both series.

Do we expect more story DLC to follow through with what happens to Iden's daughter in the Outer Rim? More scum units would be interesting to fight.


Also, I found the insight into the First Order situation to be pretty interesting, maybe even better explained than in the films. The Jinata fight against the First Order shows that while the Resistance itself may be pitifully small now, the Galaxy isn't going down without a fight. I expect that may be important in EpIX.

 

i probably don't know enough to make a real assessment (just what i've seen of the play-throughs online, etc.), but:

i kinda don't like the way they've developed the FO in this game. it feels like it possibly contradicts what was set-up/established in the Aftermath books. it's hard to tell though since we don't really know still what ever became of Sloane and how the power structure ultimately fell out. even Dawson's Phasma seems to indicate that the original plan got hijacked by people with other interests.

i'm really tired of the guesswork. i've never understood what the big secret is. but maybe there's a reason all this has been kept in the dark?

I'd say that Iden's dad seems to know way too much about Rax's plans.
Or, at least the fact that there is a bigger plan. In the books, it just seemed like the Empire went to Jakku and was just an absolute mess there, but Versio just seems to collected.

That's probably biggest offender, for me. Though, he does seem to have a change of mind as the battle goes on- perhaps he only thought he understood what was happening at Jakku.


The other strange thing is how Hask apparently not only survives the battle but also joins the First Order. But I didn't try to split hairs too much on that.

re: Hask ~ right??? that makes no sense to me. not from what we've understood before. but then again, like i said, it makes no sense that Brendol is kicking around 20 years later in the Phasma book either. he was part of Rax's original plan, but you would think he'd been dispatched long before.

but you're right, maybe it's convenient storytelling or maybe there's still more to everything that we still don't know. it just seems to not connect at the moment.

When are they going to announce the next season (Obi-Wan, Grievous, etc.) of content? It's been a while. I want more maps, more characters, more offline stuff, more single-player stuff, and a better progression system. To be honest, this game was totally rushed out IMO. I feel like they should've waited until this year or maybe even next year so more content would be ready.

 

At least we didn't have New Republic politics, with Mon Mothma declaring a new political constitution and cutting defense even though the war is still hot.

These politicians in star wars really are a problem. Come to think of it: Jar Jar is the only good politician! If it weren't for Jar Jar everyone in the galaxy would have ended up living in a repressive stateless anarcho-capitalist Valhalla.

I’m really loving the vague descriptions they’re giving for the weekend challenges.... I almost didn’t get the cosmetic crate for Luke’s Hoth skin over the weekend because it took me so long to find a game mode where the objectives counted toward it.

Really, the only Hoth skin I care about is Leia’s because she doesn’t look stupid wearing it on a planet other than Hoth, and at least she wore that outfit in the movie, unlike the stupid outfit they gave her in the game. But if I can get Han and Luke’s skins, too, I’d like to.

I’m curious as to when the new season will begin with the new characters, and whether they’ll give us Jyn and Krennic, people from Solo, or Obi-Wan and Grievous. (I really think they can probably skip giving us content from Solo and maybe just give us young Han and Lando skins instead, though.)

 

I also don't want Solo DLC, because PT or Rogue One content would be more interesting. It's hard to imagine them not linking the film's release to the game, though. Maybe just skins, as you mentioned. That's enough IMO.

As for skins, it's beyond me why aren't they adding everything we can think of... There are so many possibilities. And I'm with you, the Hoth outfits are not exciting at all... EA is probably saving all kind of cosmetics for a new type of crate. I think changeable infantry faces will be added too.

 

I agree. I just don’t think there’ll be enough new content for Solo. Skins are more than enough. I’d much rather have Rogue One content, even if it’s just giving us back Jyn, Krennic and the Scarif map. (Scarif was my favorite map in the first game, I need them to bring it back. They need to bring back Bespin, too.)

But it’s ridiculous that they haven’t given us more skins. I think it would be great if they added additional skins for at least the main characters. They need to give us Leia’s A New Hope and Endor outfits (minus that ugly helmet) as well as Luke’s Bespin outfit. (I’d personally love Leia’s Bespin outfit, and both A New Hope and The Last Jedi Luke, but that’s probably asking for too much.)

One of my biggest issues with the game is that they have so much potential with the characters that they’re wasting. They could seriously add so much stuff and it would enhance the quality of the game so much. If they gave us Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padmé, Qui-Gon, Mace Windu, Count Dooku, and General Grievous, at least we’d finally have some prequel characters other than Yoda. I think they should add Poe and Hux into the game, too, to be honest.

EA needs to get their act together. There’s so much wasted potential in the character/skin department.

 

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Rogue One content sooo much. But on the contrary to you, I didn't really like Scarif in the first game. It's hard to say why exactly, I just didn't like to play it and it felt so weird especially since it coincided with the RO release. It didn't feel like the location from the movie and the whole DLC felt rushed (probably was). Scarif as seen in the last level of the BF2 campaign, however, is A LOT better. Looked amazing. Plus, a shield gate space map is a no-brainer.
