In addition, a lot of the bugs and issues they've had since the release could be chalked up to having a significantly reduced team to maintain the game. Add that to stupid decisions like splitting up the player base with their season pass, leading to the unpopular and often frustrating forced playlists for each expansion. Most, if not all of it can probably be laid at the feet of EA.

Granted, there are some design choices by DICE in their development that I'm not crazy about, but a lot of the worst things about this game can be chalked up to the business side of things, which falls mostly on EA.

That is very likely true. Disney wants to maximize their revenue by having a holiday season releases, often cutting the production stage short on whatever the project may be. In the case of BF, it greatly hindered the depth of content it provides, whether that be lack of story or multiplayer. Everything that is in the DLCs should have been in the game at release (besides scariff)!

Ay ay ay... the season pass.... ridiculous! At least for the price it was charging. If it was less I wouldn't have minded it so much, but the fact it doubled the price of the game was outrageously stupid!

I'm interested to know what maps will be available on BFII, and any ideas from you guys?

I can maybe see Takodana, an expanded Scarif and something left-field like Mustafar

They would be doing everyone a definite disservice if they don't include the streets of Jedha. After watching Rogue One, that's the location that is begging for a multiplayer map. I actually wish they had done Jedha instead of Scariff for the Rogue One DLC. Urban combat maps are something that Battlefront needs more of.

Having urban combat would have been really cool, and is something that BF2 will hopefully implement. However, I am glad they decided to go with Scariff in this game. It is a perfect compliment to the third act of R1, combining the scenery with the action, and tailoring itself more for what BF1 has been aiming itself for from the beginning. To have had a Jedha DLC drop at that time would have been very strange, considering the context of what we knew about the story. With that said, BF2 would be a perfect place to have Jedha maps and game modes (maybe even as part of a campaign??).

Side note: I love the Scariff DLC. I think it is the best of the four, followed closely by Bespin.

I like it alright, it gets old quick in my opinion though(just like the Death Star DLC). Bespin is my favorite at this point. I think it gave the most bang for the buck of all of the DLC packs that they have released.

Had they done the smart thing and included a Mos Eisley map(one of the best maps from the original games), then the game wouldn't hurt so much for an urban combat map. Provided that the next Battlefront game is given enough time and resources, it should turn out much better and feel like a more complete product.

DeathStar DLC would be better if they added more game modes. Battle station, fighter squadron, and blast just aren't enough and gets boring.

Bespin is great! That DLC is basically all I played up until Scariff dropped. Now I play both of those pretty equally.

I like that idea about Mos Eisley! That map was the OG back in the day! especially on heroes mode haha!

Great shout, that would be fantastic. Crowded streets, vantage points, alcoves, the urban setting - if they don't include this, I'll send the Inquisitors to track you down for getting my hopes up :D:D

Yeah, we're quoted as getting stuff from "The New Movies", not necessarily the "Sequel Trilogy"- so I'd say Scarif is a possibility.

I hope we get good maps, but the focus is on planet variety, like the old games. We should have at least 12 planets in the base game, with a few maps from each.

Here's what I'm thinking we could get-

    Jakku- Niima Outpost
    Jakku- Starship Graveyard
    Takodana- Maz's Castle
    Takodana- Forest
    Starkiller Base- Interior
    Starkiller Base- Trenches
    Ach-To- Islands
    Ach-To- Ruins
    Ring of Kafrene- Marketplace
    Ring of Kafrene- Asteroid Belt
    Wobani- Prison Camp
    Wobani- Plains
    Jedha- Jedha City
    Jedha- Saw's Caves
    Eadu- Kyber Processing Plant
    Eadu- Canyon
    Scarif- Beaches
    Scarif- Tower
    Corellia: Tyrena
    Corellia: Shipyards

(Corellia is rumored to be in Ep8, but that's far from confirmed. Obviously, more Ep8 material is needed)

As far as these game modes go- Obviously smaller game modes (like Blast) could use modified smaller versions of these maps- they don't need an entirely new map. Wouldn't mind seeing Walker Assault make a return, and I personally didn't hate the more specialized game modes like the Death Star one and the Scarif one- they just might need some tweaking. Singplayer in ALL modes should be done, though- and even though they said it's not happening, I think they should reconsider adding Conquest.

    As far as heroes:

    The Rebellion
    Jyn Erso
    Cassian Andor
    Chirrut Imwe
    Baze Malbus
    Princess Leia
    K-2S0
    Saw Guerarra
(I know these are mostly the R1 crew, but that's the "New movies"...)

    The Empire
    Orson Krennic
    Darth Vader
    Wilhuff Tarkin
    Boba Fett
    Vanee
    Bossk
    IG-88
(Ok, ran out of baddies from R1 pretty quickly with this bunch, had to resort to bounty hunters)

    The Resistance
    Rey
    Finn
    Poe Dameron
    Luke Skywalker
    Han Solo
    General Leia Organa
    Chewbacca
(There's some of our classic heroes, finally)

    The First Order
    Kylo Ren
    General Hux
    Captain Phasma
    Snoke
(I'm sure I'm missing something here, but I'm drawing a blank trying to come up with new eligible villains outside of Unkar Plutt. Maybe we'll learn more about the KoR or get new good villains in Ep8).

Just bought Battlefront on Friday, finally. I'm really enjoying it after playing it at my friend's house.
I've been wondering will this campaign actually be canon? It would be the first successful SW game in new canon.

He would be over powered. they would have to buff him and I hate buffs makes the character weaker. I loved it when Lando was a one kill wonder... hehe... he got buffed now he is almost useless. Cry babies ruin the game. Buffing weapons... oy vey

I think you mean "nerf". "Buffing" means that the character gets stronger.

I think they recently said that the new game has a ton of new playable heroes in it, which suggests that they could be doing a campaign in the style of BFII from Pandemic (where you play an original story that goes through actual battles the heroes experience).

Battlefront 2 is definitely coming right along.

All reports seem to indicate that EA is really listening to fan feedback and complaints about the first game. I am pretty confident that the next Battlefront game will actually be what fans wanted with the first one. One big change I would personally like to see is either actual class based gameplay or more robust customization options that better differentiate different play styles. The Star Cards and blaster options were nice, but the game still felt too samey even when trying new combinations most of the time.

That being said, I still think people need to set realistic expectations. Battlefront II will most likely build off of DICE's original Battlefront and expand on it. I wouldn't expect complete gameplay overhauls.

Oh, I understand that completely. I just think the lack of classes in the game is one of the things that holds it back most. I almost always feel like me and everyone else on my team are playing by ourselves but happen to be playing online. Those rare instances where you get a partner that is on the same page are great, but they don't happen near enough. I think that is one of the things that largely contributes to people burning out on Battlefront much more quickly than they seem to on other shooters. Once the awe of the graphics and sounds wear off, the gameplay simply isn't enjoyable enough to keep most people coming back.

In contrast, let's compare it to another shooter that EA puts out, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2. I bought the game because I have a lot of friends with kids and I wanted a title we could play in front of them that was more kid friendly. What surprised me though was just how much fun it was, way more fun than Battlefront. A lot of this can be chalked up to the fact that it's class system makes sure that teamwork is always key to how the matches are played. When you are the big gun, it's your job to lay down suppressing fire and punish those who charge out in the open, of course your powerful main weapon is offset by having a larger target profile and moving more slowly. Each class fulfills specific functions, yet there are quite a few variations available for each class, with differences such as elemental damage, different movement speeds, etc. There are always slight tradeoffs between the different class variations as well. Even still there are other ways you can customize each class from variations on their secondary abilities to various buffs that you unlock and decide between. This aspect of the game is huge in deciding which game is more fun.

I have high praise for the developers of Plants vs Zombies GW2, they took what could have been a simple cash grab aimed at little kids and made an awesome game. Still though, I shouldn't have to say that a game like Plants vs Zombies is more enjoyable than a game like Star Wars Battlefront.

For another example of an extremely popular shooter with high replay value, look at Overwatch. Each character is basically their own unique class. The way those characters interact and play off of each other is huge part of the games appeal.

I'm not saying Battlefront needs to be a carbon copy of those games, I think it needs it's own identity as well, but the developers could learn a lot from what other successful shooters are doing to keep their player bases engaged. A key aspect that sets other titles apart is the teamwork aspect. They can't simply rely on fancy graphics and the Star Wars license if they really want to make a great game.

All of that being said, I do think we will see gameplay tweaks to make Battlefront 2 a more enjoyable experience online. Additionally, we know they listened with the campaign requests from fans and I would be shocked if the game didn't launch with a more robust Skirmish/Instant Action mode like what we got in the original Battlefront games.
