hello all! i'm just going to share a bunch of pictures with the following caveats:

1. i don't like taking pictures.
2. i consequently suck at it.
   
3. many of the cool things i saw, i was too busy looking at with my own eyes to bother capturing on film (this is especially true of cosplayers).

so forgive these bad shots and just trust me that the weekend has been epic (or just scroll through twitter to see more and better images!). XD

thursday night

first up, you're going to see a lot of stormtroopers (and variations thereof). because, well, hopefully for obvious reasons ~ hahaha
Hasbro had a pretty insane display. i don't have quite this many black series stormtroopers at home (yet).



these guys were with Force for Change. you could climb up on the tank and take pictures (i don't do that sort of thing):

and i somehow didn't take a picture of the fullscale x-wing on the show floor, but here's R2 up top:



here's a not-great shot of the TIE fighter that's pursuing the full-scale x-wing:



then there were all these detailed cars parked out at the entrance to the showfloor: the Vader truck license says Vader77, and in the cab is carbonite Han Solo; these were super fun. i think on the following day i took a few more pictures including one painted up like Poe's black x-wing. when you looked into the cars there were some fun props inside on the seats or dashboards.











i know this Ackbar looks like he's saying "oh noooo! i don't taste good with lemon juice!" but i promise he was just doing a jig outside of the showfloor, dancing his happy little mon calamari heart away. on sunday i saw an even more awesome Raddus, but like i said above, i kinda suck at this.



these little carts were raced on an obstacle-like course track by kids (along with remote control mouse droids). i took these pictures at the end of the show when they were just parked because trying to get pictures of the race was too hard due to the crowds (and the fact that yes, i'm a little bit short for a stormtrooper).



love these framed propaganda posters! if the stormtrooper one is on sale tomorrow, i might buy it. XD




my most important purchase on thursday night was this $4 vintage ESB coloring book.
this picture alone was worth the price of admission. can't wait to get my crayons! XD

not sure i'd be brave enough to color the thing in. half my brain would be telling me to leave it untouched and perfect, and the other half would remind me that i'd probably make a right mess of it

friday!

even though this teaser day and even though i spent most of it in line at the Celebration show (gah!), i still managed to take a bunch of pictures.
will probably have to break this post into two to make it easier on the load.

so friday was a beautiful blue sky day in the windy city (this is important for later).


the day before they had handed out packages of Star Wars ziploc baggies, so i used them to pack snacks:


and yes, i wore this shirt (sorry about the cruddy mirror shot; i could have corrected that; oops!):


i had a pretty good seat for the Episode IX panel (decent). there was a lot of screaming going on. i may or may not have participated in that. : D
before the show, Warwick Davis came out and chatted with the audience and played games with everyone. the women in the audience killed it at trivia. the men didn't do as well. XD



after the panel i went to the Celebration store to get my exclusive pins because i wanted to play the trading game.
the store was huge and airy and full of Star Wars! sorry about the shaky shot; my arms might have been full.
and because i'm so bad at pictures, i didn't shoot any of the cool stuff in the store; like the life-sized Loth wolf or, you, know, the merchandise.



in my defense, partly i was just desperate to grab and go because i had to go to the bathroom and the line to get in to this place was 187 hours long:



no lie. it was brutal. depending on how things go today, i might go back to the store one last time (the line should be mostly gone by now).

after all that, i just wandered around the showfloor in a daze. there were cool panels, but the system was busted (again), and getting into anything was a mess, and finding the rooms was a mess, and i just didn't want to fight the crowds. so i went and looked for stormtroopers, of course. i took many very terrible pictures of cool things. i'll just share a few because most of them are embarrassingly bad (blurry, shaky, out of frame, etc.):



so many cool toys (there will be more later):





and there were all these stations where you could take pictures with dioramas or characters in costume. this one of Jabba was pretty funny:



and of course more stormtroopers. these guys were cool hanging out in front of an Endor bunker for photo ops:


and speaking of costumes, i'll post some pictures from the fan-created costume gallery next.
for the moment i have to grab breakfast! : D

friday continued:

so part of the reason the pictures from friday are especially messy is too much excitement and too much exhaustion. i'd spent all thursday just walking the floor (about 7 hours). and the episode ix panel was a jolt of adrenaline on top of that exhaustion; my hands were literally shaking the rest of the day. XD

so here's some of the fun fan costumes:


yes, "Reylo" was big at Celebration; many couples dressed as Ren and Rey, some were Anakin and Padme, many Han and Leia of all stripes, including a number of TFA ones with Kylo Ren children ~ ha! and i even saw a beautiful Obi-Wan and Satine (which of course i didn't get a picture of). XD



@Boushhdisguise: there were many Boushh cosplayers wandering around the floor and they were amazing! one had a thermal detonator that actually lit up.


and then there were plenty of models and things; these from EFX:









this was a whole evolution of Vader's mask. i tried to catch the red eyes, but it was hard and there were just too many people crowding around to hog up the space.



(there's a rearview of this destroyer i took later, which i will post).

and then there were these guys, Anovos, who are LFL professional costume builders.
i actually bought a legit FO patch from them (which of course i don't have a picture to show you just at the moment) XD:



still not done with friday, but i have to get dressed and ready to hit the show one last time! : D

 

i'm guessing there were a few deep breaths as people walked by this?

friday continued (again)!

just a few more shots; these were mostly taken toward the end of the day.

guys, there were Hot Toys. so many Hot Toys at so many prices.
i'm not saying some of these might have followed me home, but my shelves do look like they might be getting a little crowded. XD


@RockyRoadHux, i noticed Domhnall Gleeson is now finally signing photos (he had refused to before):


and yes, i bought more coloring books: this was a two-pack of coloring books from RotJ that came with an awesome skiff Lando bookmark and rub-ons! XD


$10 and worth every penny ~ hahaha

next up: saturday! i think the pictures might be a little better (clearer) coming up, given my hands were less shaky after friday. : D
