Quantic Dream has formally announced Star Wars: Eclipse at The Game Awards tonight, confirming rumors of their involvement with the Star Wars IP.

The studio behind the likes of critically-acclaimed, story-driven games like Heavy RainBeyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human has formally revealed their plans to take their first step into a larger world with their first collaboration with Lucasfilm Games. Quantic Dream's new title is one of several exclusive reveals that have been unveiled at this year's iteration of The Game Awards - which regularly showcase details on existing titles getting significant updates or showing new games arriving in the years to come for the first time ever - between awards given to major games.

    Check out the teaser below:

We previously told you that a teaser for this video game would be coming to The Game Awards, and now, that's happened. Not much is known about this title, aside from what's been said in previous reports: Quantic Dream has been working on the game for nearly two years now as the first major project for their Montréal studio (run by former Eidos employee Stéphane D’Astous), the game is reportedly set in the time of the High Republic era, and the game is reportedly more action-driven than previous efforts from the studio (befitting of the skills of game director Yohan Cazaux, who was previously involved with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series). It's also rumored that the game could have open-world elements, and may also have a multiplayer component. It certainly seems like the newest installment won't just be a matter of utilizing quick-time events in opportune moments in a galaxy far, far away, as previous Quantic Dream titles have made use of, but an effort that reflects the demands of players searching for a AAA Star Wars experience.

Star Wars Eclipse is in development at Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games.

It looks good! But I'll probably get more excited the more I know about the story and the more gameplay I see. But the game is off to a very good start!

Just saw this, this morning, didn't know this was in the works. The music & the scenes works so well together. Can't wait to see who the cast is & hopefully likes of Laura Bailey comes back voicing another character.

Next-gen only? that sucks, can't get my hands on a PS5, and now my PS4 pro is constantly crashing with new installed games... Is anyone else experiencing this on a PS4 console? ( Aliens Fireteam Elite and Call of Duty Vanguard both games constantly crashing, my software is updated I can't figure out what's going on. The publisher announced on social media wait for the new patch so I'm not the only gamer experiencing this... can't play a game I purchased really sucks)

If it makes you feel any better, you've got a couple years to get one. Eclipse is in early development, so I'd wager we won't see it released for another two years minimum. KOTOR is the same, but I imagine it's a little farther along. Jedi Fallen Order's sequel is a big mystery right now - we're 99% sure it exists, but we don't know when it will be revealed. The first game had a pretty solid turnaround from reveal in April to release in November, so we could see it as early as next year or as late as 2023.
So yeah, we've got time before the pressure to get any of these Star Wars games should really sink in.

Loved the trailer. Would have liked at least a rough release date as this could be years away.
    But great first look.

The new Dune looks awesome ;)

But on a serious note- it does look alot like Dune! While it does look nice and stunning (which CG trailer does not, right?) I can't get much excitement out of this. I didn't learn anything about the story and its characters. Furthermore I'm not a huge fan of the developer Quantic Dream. Their games were never really for me, then there were these huge accusations of bad corporate culture...

But let's wait and see what the development of this will be.
