OFFICIAL NEWS Star Wars Episode VIII Delayed until 12/15/17

The only people who should be having a bad feeling are those involved in Avatar.

Star Wars would absolutely smash it.

Avatar was a one-off which has a gross which was way inflated due to prices. Also, it isn't that good.

 

I would bet they are doing just that. so you will see more rey ,finn and poe. Less luke and mystery female lead

 

Agggggghhhhh! Don't these people know that I have a problem with patience?!?


But more seriously, I hope the delay is not to tinker too much with the story to try to cater to every fan theory floating around out there. However, I'm ok with a delay if it makes the final product stronger. Even if I'm all twitchy now.

 

Star Wars life after ?
First, canon go ....
Second, TFA's gotta make its Kessel run in December of 15.
Third, let's ignore Luke altogether, mystery box the bad guy & troll fans on twitter about Plagueis.

Fourth, may "the Force in May" bite the dust, forever.... all future saga films get an Xmas release.

All movies have constant rewrites and delays. Especially the very good ones (Godfather I, II & III, Schindler's list etc.) Only marvel movies for some mysterious reason are next to always completed right on the deadline. We all know why that is.....

 

More time = even better movie = I'm loving it!

 

2 years between movies is still better then 3 years between the OT & PT. Hopefully we get the same timetable of TFA and the first teaser is this Thanksgiving.

 

I am gutted. I was soooo looking forward to a summer release :-(

 

Well it was what the tweets of the source suggested. I don't know, perhaps they mistrusted Daisy for some ignorant reason. They were launching all sorts of apologies for her performance before the movie was out and were very cautious of not putting out any scenes with dialogue in them. Even Abrams said after the big success of The Force Awakens really regretted being so hard on daisy and having her to re-do takes over and over again while they were in fact each time excellent. I think they really underestimated the main leads and might have thought to reintroduce some new ones. Ridley and Boyega were really awesome and their acting was perfect, so on the other hand I think there is no doubt Abrams and others would not have aknowledged that. More likely is that it was Johnson who did not really like his main leads and was whistled back by Abrams, Kennedy and Disney for not allowing them more screentime. Especially Finn and Poe I think. They are seriously cutting screentime for new leads for VIII so that would make more sense.

But then again rewrites and delays occur very often, especially with very good movies which were highly anticipated. It could all be a buzz for no apparent reason. More time means better movie.

 

The christmas business is compelling.

I know, but I have the feeling it's a pretextual excuse.
I suspect that the OT cast will shed feathers too.

I know that's why I stated that I agree with a part of the post and not the full thing.
It was meant sarcastic in the first place, no doubt, but I used it for a serious purpose.

 

I wish TFA would've been pushed back to May myself. Would've kept the May tradition alive. BUT, I also like the idea of starting a new family tradition of watching a new Star Wars every christmas!

And as far as pushing it back for rewrites or whatever...I'm relieved. I thought a year and a half was too soon. No need to rush

 

Wrecks the tradition established almost 40 years ago of going to the Drive In to see the stars behind the Star Wars. One time was fine, but now?

So yeah, I'm gutted too.

 

This is not always true, but I would like it if you're correct in this case.

My board comrade you sound annoyed, there is no need to be.
I will explain my opinion on this topic: "I started to speculate about the screentime of some characters in VIII"
In TFA we got 40 mins of Han, 2 mins of Leia and 15 seconds of Luke.
The bridge is gone, rewrites for VIII, new characters get canceled and I guess the remaining OT cast will shed some feathers too.
Poe's role will be bigger this time, Rey/Finn will get a equal amount of time and don't forget Kylo Ren. (Hux/Snoke/Phasma and Benicio del Toro)
For me, it looks like there is not much space for our old guard in VIII.
I'am not pessimistic, I'am just realistic. (I would appreciate more of Luke/Leia and C3-PO/R2-D2 in the upcoming movie, but I doubt it will happen)

I don't want to be controversial, I just share my honest thoughts.

 

I can't help but feel really sad about this, even if in the end this is good news for us as fans that we'll get an even better movie, but man I was so looking forward to seeing a Star Wars movie in May... 7 more months is too much

 

Just more build up and a focus on Rogue One promotion.
