Unreliable, I've been caught a few times with each article starting off with info from a youtube user that's just a theory.

Yes, there was another MZ video recently saying that there was a script leak of Luke saying some line . I just rolled my eyes. Lucasfilm is like Fort Knox. No way that'll get out. Line was a bit cheesy.

As for the EP8 teaser, I don't think they will reveal it unless sales aren't meeting their expectations. I think they're taking on a "let's wait and see" stance, and seeing how well Rogue One can 'stand alone' (pun intended) without having EP8 piggybacking it in the theatre.

Here's what I think they should do:
    • Debut the first teaser in April, sometime around the Blu-ray/DVD release of Rogue One as well as Star Wars Celebration Orlando.
    • Debut the second teaser in July. I'd say before releasing it online to the public, attach it to screenings of Spider-Man: Homecoming as a way of getting the movie some extra box-office money from Star Wars fans as well as a way of paying tribute to a similar act in 1998 when they attached a Phantom Menace teaser to Meet Joe Black before and after the film. Except this time, it'd be a great deal, one that I'm sure Disney couldn't resist. Fans and audiences would be getting new footage from Episode VIII AND a new movie about one of the most popular superheroes ever :D
    • And then finally debut the first full-length trailer in October just like The Force Awakens. Maybe they can do the same thing and air it during Monday Night Football. Who knows?

She's talking about the overall direction of the franchise. She's talking about where they go after EIX in terms of content and focus.

Nothing in that statement relates in any way to E8 apart from saying it's been shot.

Deciding about releasing a trailer is a marketing decision. She's talking about sitting down with the story team.

EIX could have a script rewrite based on reaction to RO or E8 but not much can be done with E8 at this point.

I know we're all trying read the tea leaves, but as Frued said, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar"

i think they might throw in a teaser/title during Superbowl in February. Just a thought. There's enough time away from the Rogue One theatrical release and Celebration in April. That wets people's appetites for something more in April.

RO wasn't marketed the way TFA was. They'll change things up again I suspect. Spider-Man is actually a Sony movie, with Marvel involvement. They would attach an E8 trailer to almost any other movie.
They are sharing some of the $$$ but Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is out in May, plus other Disney summer movies would be much more likely.

Also, trailers aren't tied to movies the way they once were.

TFA releasing its first full trailer in October was pretty darn late, but they could release the final trailer in October like they did for RO.

I doubt they use they'll use MNF again. The NBA finals could be used to debut a trailer in June. I believe they are on ABC. There's the MLB all star game, and as well as Good Morning America in their hip pocket.

I don't want to belabor the point, but Disney would be smart to start the E8 hype train earlier than April 2017 because there are so many big movies opening in 2017. Justice League and Thor 3 open in November so they won't have nearly the cushion the last two SW movies had.

    absolutely mate.

I don't have a scooby when it comes to Disney's or LF's plans for the release of.. well.. anything. It was pure speculation on my part that we would see nothing unrelated to R1 until after the meetings KK referred to.

Well, to expand a bit more on your first sentence here in regards to my post. To my friends knowledge there is not a teaser being readied for a release any time soon. That does not mean that there hasn't been concept work done or some kind of rough edit for an internal review of a concept.

Like Lobot said. Trailers are not tied to movies like they once were. Most trailers are released on Youtube or some other social media site. Now if the question is when will we see a trailer in theaters then I think that You will see somethings beginning with the summer blockbusters.

I think that the teaser would be released on the mainstage in orlando in april with R1 being released shortly after/dring celebration with the teaser attached to the bluray.

i like your second idea but the trailer should be released online the day of as well.

we'd most likely see a full-length trailer-trailer- around thanksgiving with an official poster and an international teaser a week or so before the release along with an official plot synopsis

Calling it - we'll either get our first look at VIII next week or in April. ;) Can't see them anything in between.

They're not gonna release it in theaters before they release it online, that time and age has passed.

don't know if you are being sarcastic, but I think he's spot on. I think that's the overall pattern Disney is going to use: 3 teasers/trailers overall, the final one being in October and one during the annual celebration (this year being an exception because of the reshoots). The remaining one will be placed in between or before celebration if it's a bit later in the year.

No teaser in December and before Celebration, that time is reserved for Rogue One. They might release the title but not a teaser.

That's four months. Very, very few films have a box office run that long anymore. RO will get a slightly longer than normal run for a tent pole movie because it has Christmas weekend as its second weekend, but it has lots of competition then.

Underworld 5 and XXX 3 come out in January.

And February has Lego Bateman, the Great Wall, 50 shades darker.

Disney is releasing a little film called Beauty and the Beast which comes out mid March so it will really ramp up its promotional campaign around Valentine's Day.
Logan and Trainspotting 2 come out at the beginning of March. Kong Skull Island and King Arthur are both March releases

April will see Fast 8, not to mention the ramp up for GOTG2 in early May

There is also Game of Thrones, which will begin its promotional campaign in April or May, ahead of a likely June premiere.

Any news on E8 will be big, but will face an uphill battle to get any more than one day of coverage.

The idea that RO is going to get the full attention of anyone until April isn't very accurate. LFL will be stoking the fires of E8 somehow starting in mid-January, which will be when RO begins to drop off drastically at the box office. TFA came out on DVD on April 5, and while that was a quick release, it was essentially done at the box office well before that.

I'm still cautiously optimistic that we will hopefully see the title on christmas or new years day.

Collider Jedi Council had a great idea.

At the end of RO, use that VIII production announcement teaser that went on YT months ago as an end credit scene and then fade to announce "Coming in December 2017 Star Wars Episode VIII: Title."

    It's a perfect balance:

    1. It gets around having to use new footage, we've all seen the production announcement video
    2. it only announces a title, yet it's something new
    3. It doesn't take away from Rogue One.
