In 2017, Lucasfilm and Del Rey collaborated to create Star Wars: From A Certain Point Of View, an anthology of Star Wars short stories tied to the events of A New Hope from 40 different perspectives. Now, just in time for the fortieth anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, they're doing it again.

Lucasfilm issued the following announcement for the newest installment of the From A Certain Point Of View series through the official Star Wars website:
In addition to the announcement, they have shared a full image of what the cover will look like upon the book's release. Check it out below:

The original book told a number of fun stories of varying degrees of canonicity, and it was a clear labor of love for this franchise. You can read our review of it here. All things considered, it seems likely that Return of the Jedi ought to follow suit in 2023, although what form the series takes from there remains to be seen. Will they go for a long wait to approach the prequels or the sequels on their respective fortieth anniversaries, or will they adjust the number of authors and anniversaries of each film to a much more tolerable wait after playing things by ear? We'll just have to find out!

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - From A Certain Point Of View does not yet have a release date.

Since Empire Strikes Back is both my favorite Star Wars film and my favorite film if all time, I’m excited for this news!

I have some predictions for whose perspectives we’ll be seeing:
    • A Willrow Hood story is inevitable.
    • Stories from the point of view of various Rebel and Imperial officers and soldiers (Major Derlin, General Rieeken, Admiral Ozzel, Admiral Piett, etc.)
    • Obi-Wan’s spirit.
    • Kes Dameron and/or Shara Bey.
    • Zev Senesca and Dak Ralter.
    • An Imperial Probe Droid.
    • That thing in the swamp that spat out R2.
    • Some random Cloud City citizens.
    • An Ugnaught.
    • The stormtrooper Chewie pushes off in the carbon freezing chamber.
    • The Exogorth or “space slug”.
    • L3-37.
    • One of the TIE pilots chasing Han through the asteroid field.
    • The Force Priestesses from the Yoda arc in Season Six of The Clone Wars.
    • Some of the bounty hunters besides Boba Fett.
    • Cara Dune maybe?
    • Miara Larte from the Ahsoka novel, as well as her short story in the first From A Certain Point of View book.
    • The rude droid that said “e chu ta” to Threepio.
    • At least one Bespin Guard.
    • Good ‘ol Sheev.
    • The droid that installed Luke’s mechanical hand.
    • Lando’s people who “fixed” the Falcon.
    • The Cloud City central computer that told R2 the hyperdrive on the Millenium Falcon was deactivated.
    • A Cloud Car pilot.
    • Maz Kanata maybe?
    • Evaan Veralane.
    • Sana Starros
    • Doctor Aphra
    • A Cloud City worker watching the Luke v. Vader duel from a distance.
    • This last one’s really out there, but I think something from the perspective of Padme regarding Luke and Vader/Anakin could be interesting. It could be like that Beru story from the previous book where she was posthumously monologuing about Luke to the audience. Obviously, this wouldn’t be canon.
Looking forward to seeing which ones I got correct!

I think he and SCAR squad let Luke escape one too many times and Vader probably dealt with them before the events of ESB. One has to train those Force chokes, lol. :D
