Thanks @Lock_S_Foils, I searched quite a while. There are some that are outstanding over the years, people like Zimmer, Shore or even Powell.
I agree with you about the Narnia score.
Also his latest work for Mulan was really good.
It's strange, but not long ago I watched "The Martian" for the second time and I didn't recognize that it was Gregson-Williams who made the score for it.
His sound for Martian sounds a little bit more optimistic. Although it is not that catchy like the one for Narnia I would prefer to have that kind of positive tone for the soundtrack of a story in the GFFA.
To be honest I played with some ideas, for example to have a score like the one for Kill Bill or other Terentino films but I was not sure if I am brave enough to combine it with the SW universe. :)

I'm still confused if I should be talking about this over here or in the selection thread. If this is the wrong place, let me know and switch. Alright, breakdown time!

Let's start with the easy-ish pick - John Paesano. I've been listening to Won't Give Up from Spider-Man: Mlies Morales for nearly two months now, and I just cannot tire of it! There's so much in that one song: hope, youth, identity, the desire to be, and of course, that good 'ol superhero feel. And after looking around for a bit, that's what I realized I needed - someone who can recognize what makes a specific genre sound like it does, and then turn it into something that fits the characters. See his creation of the 2018 Spider-Man theme and his interview about the Miles theme below.

Spider-Man Composer on Crafting Miles Morales' Melodic Identity (gizmodo.com)

Ludwig was my original choice, as those who saw my original draft picks when I posted incorrectly may know. His creation of leitmotifs and atmosphere are exactly what I wanted and probably need. And when I discovered that Ludwig also worked on Community, I was so tempted to make it a giant reunion! My second picks were the dynamic duo of Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL. You can hate on the Snyder DC movies all you want, but the scores are phenomenal. Superman's new theme feels like a sunrise, while Batman's theme encapsulates all of the trauma and sadness the man hides behind that mask. Wonder Woman's theme of "Is She With You?" is a rocking good time and feels so otherworldly at times. I love it! ...and yet...as much as Hans Zimmer is my favorite composer, I felt like his score would be a bit...stale for the sort of Star Wars movie I'm going for. A bit - dare I say it? - generic. I didn't want that. I didn't want someone whose work may feel like a coin toss on whether or not I'd like it for my story. So I decided to kill my darlings and have those composers be enjoyed from a fan perspective, and not an Executive Producing one (which is what I assume all of us are for our own movies).

All of that said, if no one else picks up Ludwig by the end of this draft, I may end up with two collaborating artists. ;)

In terms of cinematography, things are a tad more complicated. I didn't fully realize what a cinematographer was until late this weekend, and then I spent a decent chunk of time looking at ones from movies I liked, looking at their history, analyzing their styles and methods, and then pondering if they'd actually work well with what I was building.

Wally Pfister was my first choice, but I realized that he wouldn't fit well. Hoyte von Hoytema was second, but his portfolio was too realistic for me. Rachel Morrison - a director in her own right - was a third choice. I loved her work on Black Panther, and Fruitvale Station is a masterpiece I've yet to watch. But her indie background and her seeming aversion to the amount of proverbial cooks that would be in this kitchen didn't make her feel like a good mesh for Lucasfilm. And then I discovered Sir Roger Deakins. The man has the portfolio and experience I desired, and his exhaustive preproduction process would make the actual shooting a breeze. I do worry about his work with the production designer...I may have to sacrifice an actor in order to remedy that...

Anyways, Deakins' also brings with him a level of artistry that I think can push the Russo Bros to even greater heights in their craft. The videos below examines Deakins better than I can.

Both works... If you're already posting your pick anyways, I think it would be fine to post the breakdown in either location.

Otherwise I think the goal is to keep that thread clean for the draft only. so unless you are posting a pick or summoning someone for a pick, bring all other discussion back to this thread.

I haven't had time for the "why's" of my picks but I'll try to get a breakdown in after the draft is wrapped up.

I haven't seen her in much, but she was great as Dinah in Birds of Prey! Great choice!

The longer this draft goes on, the more random positions I feel the need to fill lol! After this is all over, can we do a breakdown of the positions we didn't get to fill, and the story we didn't fully get to tell...assuming our pitch is a blurb more than a breakdown? I want to see everyone's "what ifs" especially if they have more to their stories and movies than the draft allows! I know I do.

At the end, you're going to post a general synopsis of the story you want to tell and how your picks fit that.

I've talked with @DarthSnow about adding some potential prizes for the winner.
    (We'll run a poll)

Sweet! Although I did sort of mean after that. The more time I have on my story, the more complex it gets and the more roles (both major and minor) I end up filling. These roles won't be a part of the draft, so it would be unfair to post them there, but they're still a part of the story in my mind. As such, I was thinking of more of a place for a "director's cut" sort of thing. Or maybe an "afterparty" discussion sort of thing? Just a place to discuss all of the what-ifs and decisions we didn't make without worrying about the game.

That's fine but it'd have to wait until after the vote as to not sway voters obviously.

There will be no accusations of fraudulent votes in this dojo!

    Never did the college bit.
I was in the middle of starting my papers for green to gold when I ended up med-boarded out, unfortunately.

Was a 35-F (well, back then... network switching systems operator/maintainer), and I had a blast doing that.
I would have gone career if I hadn't found myself in a situation of choosing between leaving and staying in, but in staying in, potentially putting other soldiers at risk (I can't carry heavy loads after a knee injury, and yet would still be deployable on paper even though my knee buckles randomly at times even while walking...there was no way I was going to be in the sandbox running under fire, have my knee buckle, have another soldier turn around to grab my a** and end up in a box going home because of me).

I've got a good life now, but there are times I miss the military's orderly life.

    Cheers,
    Jayson

I'm excited for future renditions of this game because several big names I would have chosen are no where to be found.

Not sure about others, but I'm purposefully avoiding big names.
