Why not adopt a moment of reflection and a message on unity during pre-game in lieu of blatantly disrespecting the people who fought for your freedom to have a voice?

I am 100% with you all on the issue at hand, but there has to be a better way to speak this message than to crap all over people of all colors who love and have fought for this country. I'm done with this. You claim to want to unity, but instead of finding a better way to speak your voice, you trample all over the flag and the people who have fought and died for it.

 

i'm sorry to say this is why i don't support the sport anymore.
it hasn't been sportsmanlike in a long long time, and when used as a platform for this kind of thing, it's offensive.

@TheBBP i hope you will reconsider playing along with us in our non-political variation of the game here, just for funsies.
i'm not watching the games. i'm just randomly picking and being amused when @DarthSnow announces the winners.
but i understand if that offends your sensibilities.

 

I appreciate it, but I am all levels of done with the NFL. It breaks my heart too. I have loved my Seahawks as long as I can remember and as silly as it sounds, I feel like I just lost a friend.

 

Right. I understand all of that and 100% agree with the right to protest and their right to kneel. However, I also believe that simply because we have a right that we shouldn't consider or seek to be tactful when warranted. Where I live, I am legally allowed to openly carry a firearm, right on my person and out in the open for all to see. However, I choose not to openly carry because it scares all sorts of people who don't know who I am. I am choosing not to exercise my right in favor of a more civil stance.

When players kneel, no matter how many times they say that it is not about disrespect, there are a TON of people who are greatly disrespected by it. If I were Grand Commandant of the NFL and all of Social Justice, I would nix that form of protest for the betterment of civil discourse. This is why I believe that they should take some time pre-game to give a proper voice to their cause. Stand arm-in-arm, play a written speech, spoken word poetry, something that incites unity instead of using the time that is meant to honor those who have sacrificed for that flag to do so. Despite their best interests, they are still inviting division. I don't think that is the answer.

As for reconsidering bowing out, I will take some time to give it some thought. My pics for this week still stand and I will have time to decide before next Thursday to continue.

 

I didn't want to chime in about this cause this is a touchy subject, so forgive me if I say something that one doesn't agree with; as a PC I see that this is the only way the American people will take notice quickly. It should have been a more thought out plan but it looks like they want fast results and by doing this everyone will see. PC's IMHO are predominantly in entertainment and sports so this is where their voice will be heard most effectively.

At first I thought it was a distraction, but now Kaepernick can't get on a team. He wants to play but because he did what he believed was right he can't play, so his fellow brothers are paying homage to him. I don't like the recent events that occurred in the south so anything we can do to make a change even if its disrupting American football something must be done.
