I hope that starting in late 2015 or early 2016 there will be an ongoing series of novels from DelRey about the adventures of Luke,Han and Leia and the events in the Star Wars galaxy covering the thirty years between Return of the Jedi and Episode VII likely leading up to the pre-episode VII adventures of Daisy Ridley's and John Boyega's characters and leading up to Luke's disapperance and his transformation into the New Sith Lord since it's rumored Luke will be the villian of the ST.

I hope there will be at least be a Episode VII-Lead in Novel coming out November 2015. Speaking of which there is a listing for another SW hardcover coming out November 3,2015 on Once upon a galaxy's fiction section and the book catalogue Edelweiss.

I hope they bring back Timothy Zahn, James Luceno or Troy Denning or even John Jackson Miller to write post-ROTJ/Pre-Episode VII novels. It's going to be a fascinating era in SW history to cover with not just novels but comics or an animated series or maybe even a trilogy of prequel/sequel films set between ROTJ and Episode VII but with different actors playing Luke,Han and Leia perhaps coming out after Episode IX.

I also hope there will be bridge novels set between Episodes VII and VIII and bridge novels set between Episodes VIII and IX. Then do an ongoing series of novels set after Episode IX with the new ST characters until Episodes X-XII come out around 2027???!

Can I have some feedback here since I was voted great post?!

I'm sure it will happen but they want the time between Jedi and VII to be a mystery until the film comes out. At that point the floodgates will open.

I hope DelRey makes an annoucement about new post-ROTJ/pre-Episode VII books before Christmas or at StarWars Celebration in April 2015 by the latest. But I would prefer the former. I was disappointed that DelRey did not make any announcements about new Post-ROTJ/Pre-Episode VII novels at SDCC or NYCC this year. But I hope they do before this Christmas. At least announce that it will happen or who will write the new books. Legacy of the Force was announced but teased as another post-ROTJ 9-book series as early as 2004 and that started in 2006.

Again I hope the first new Post-ROTJ/Pre-Episode VII novel comes out as early as fall 2015. Maybe the first will have that second Battle of Endor where the Empire launches another space/land battle against the Rebels just as they are evaucating Endor and they kill numerous Ewoks and the new villian takes the burning helmet of Darth Vader as it launches a new ongoing battle with the Rebels Vs. Imperial remnants for 30 years in numerous hardcover standalones and paperback trilogies by the likes of Tim Zahn, Troy Denning, James Luceno or even John Jackson Miller leading to the new big conflict that will feature in Episodes VII-IX.

Here is my take on what the book schedule will be from 2015-2020:

Fall 2015: Episode VII lead in novel or first novel set after ROTJ-pre Episode VII

    December 2015:Episode VII novelization

Starting 2016: 2 or 3 post-ROTJ HCs a year in Winter, Summer and Fall with 1 paperback trilogy

    2017:Episode VIII lead-in novel

    Episode VIII novelizations

2018:More Post-ROTJ/pre-Episode VII novels with 1 or 2 bridge novels set between Episodes VII and VIII

    2019:Episode IX lead in novel

    Episode IX novelization

1 or 2 Bridge novels between Episodes VIII and IX with more Post-ROTJ/Pre-Episode VII novels

2020 and beyond:Ongoing series of HCs and Paperback trilogies set years after Episode IX with the further adventures of Daisy Ridley's and John Boyega's characters.

I'm thinking they want it all to remain a mystery until after Episode 7 comes out, maybe even after Episode 9 comes out. I know right now they are focusing on the gap between Episodes 3 and 4 because they want to amp up REBELS and also during the OT to feature Luke, Leia, and Han as we remember them (Heir to the Jedi will probably tie into Episode 7 in my oppionion.) But I share your optimisim, looking forward to what happened between ROTJ and Ep 7.
From what I understand, the new Star Wars: Battlefront videogame will be set before Ep 7 and lead into it.

They can't keep it a mystery forever and certainly not after Episode 9 comes out. Hopefully they should have the first novel shortly after Jedi or a lead-in to Episode VII or both around just before Episode VII comes out which would be fall 2015 and why would they just have the new Battlefront video game set between ROTJ and Episode VII(Not that I wouldn't want to play it. I would play that game in a heartbeat.) when there could be countless books on that era and there is an article from August on furiousfanboys.com about the possiblity of books set between ROTJ and Episode VII. I want more opinions from other people about this.

Since the canon/EU has been rebooted. There should be a rebooted Thrawn trilogy by Tim Zahn set at some point between ROTJ and Episode VII where Thrawn teams up with the Inquisitor in the Unknown Regions and takes on Luke,Han and Leia and the Rebel Alliance and fight for control of the galaxy. Or maybe even Thrawn and the Inquisitor goes up against Nuso Esva from Choices of One to fight for control of the Unknown Regions or the entire galaxy. Such a new SW novel trilogy by Zahn should come out in 2016(the 25th anniversary of the release of Tim Zahn's first SW novel Heir to the Empire) and months after Episode VII comes out.

If I were a betting man I would guess there will be a lead in novel for Episode VII, along with a comic series from Marvel introducing us to Adam Drivers character and what he is all about. The novel will be about Luke Skywalker and the apprentice he trained before he disappeared.

Looking forward to everything Star Wars literature and comic related. I have a feeling by the time Episode VII roles out in 2017 we will all have a complete view of the Star Wars Universe between the novels, Rebels, and Episode VII

Thanks for the feedback Kyle! But Episode VII comes out in 2015 and Episode VIII comes out in 2017. I too hope there will be a lead-in novel to Episode VII and it will be about Luke and his apprentice before Luke disappears. I hope it comes out September or November 2015.

I hope Del Rey will have news about new post-ROTJ/Pre-Episode VII novels this Christmas at least. Remember I mentioned that on the Edelweiss book catalogue and OnceUponAGalaxy.com there is a listing for a new SW hardcover novel coming out November 3,2015. It could be the Episode VII novelization or a lead-in novel to Episode VII. Also I wonder if Del Rey will have another HC planned for September 2015? Since the Christie Golden HC Dark Disciple is the last known planned HC coming out July 2015 and there is another SW hardcover novel planned for November 3,2015. What about September 2015? Will DelRey have another OT era novel out in Sep 2015 maybe with a Luke,Han and Leia adventure in the new canon set during the OT or maybe shortly after ROTJ in the new canon?

Jennifer Heddle at DelRey said at NYCC there will be news about new SW novels soon. I hope it will be about novels set between ROTJ and Episode VII and who will write the Episode VII novelization. Also I hear a rumor that we might be see teaser trailer for Episode VII on Christmas Day to mark the one year countdown and John Williams is doing music for it in 2 weeks.

I have a feeling we will get our first Episode VII lead-in novel or our first new post-ROTJ/Pre Episode VII novel one year from now since it's almost November and we're supposed to get a SW hardcover novel November 3,2015 which is 1 year 3 days from now. The new Post-ROTJ/Pre-Episode VII era is fast appraoching. We should get news about these novels by Chtistmas or StarWars Celebration in April by the latest. I hope for this Christmas since we will also get our first Episode VII teaser trailer.

From the artwork I've seen on Episode VII especially the Tatooine scenes online. I already know that most of the battles post-ROTJ/pre-Episode VII will be on Tatooine. Then there's Endor too with the Imperial remnants coming back to attack Endor to look for the rebels and slaughter the Ewoks and the Inquisitor taking Vader's burnt helmet. There's an epic novel waiting to be written about a massive space and land battle on Tatooine with the Empire vs. New Republic with Kira(Daisy Ridley's) character fighting in the massive battle possibly flying a starfighter and crashing on Tattoine and continuing to fight on land and leading up to the point where she decided to live there. She must to have had several adventures on other worlds or took part in many space dogfights in distant parts of the galaxy pre-Episode VII before deciding to live on Tatooine for whatever reason. That's another epic novel waiting to be written by Tim Zahn,Troy Denning, John Jackson Miller or James Luceno.

We have evidence that there will be tie-in novels to The Force Awakens on the German site Jedi Bibliotek from Disney Press and likely from Del Rey too. There is to be major hardcovers from Del Rey coming in September,October and November 3,2015 as well as HC novels from Christie Golden and Troy Denning in March and June 2016. Will they be set between ROTJ & TFA or sometime after TFA especially the books coming in 2016 from Golden and Denning?

And of course there will be the Young Adult novels from disney including the novel The Fall of the Empire/Rise of the Rebellion and middle grade novels for Luke,Han and Leia.

I suspect we will hear some major news about the upcoming Del Rey SW hardcovers and possibly TFA tie-ins in the next month or so.

Del Rey had better start announcing those new SW novels especially the The Force Awakens tie-in novels. Disney Press has already announced their TFA-tie-in YA books. Why hasn't DR announced their TFA adult novels yet? It's getting depressing for me to keep going on the net and not seeing any news on future novels especially yet to be announced books from Del Rey since TFA will be out exactly a year from now. I hope DR will announce their TFA novels by Christmas or in January(

If and when there will be a new series of novels set between ROTJ & TFA from DelRey and there definitely should be. What kinds of adventures will the Big three and the new characters from TFA have? Will there be new adventures in the Unknown Regions or Wild Space or the Coroprate Sector? Will we see Thrawn, Mara Jade and the Chiss in the new books set between ROTJ & TFA? Will the new enemies from TFA team up with Thrawn and the Chiss take on the New Republic? Will Han Solo return to the Corporate Sector and reunite with Doc,Jessa and Bollux/BlueMax from Brian Daley's Han Solo trilogy and face a new enemy there? Will the Big three and co. have adventures in the Unknown Regions and/or even return to Endor to fight the Empire and the Inquisitors in the rumored second Battle of Endor? We'll find out news of not the just the author of the TFA novelization but new bridge novels set between ROTJ & TFA and even bridge novels set between TFA and Episode VIII.

Also speaking of possible novels set between TFA & Episode VIII. Will the new heroes Rey,Finn and Poe Dameron played by Daisy Ridley,John Boyega and Oscar Issac have adventures in the Unknown Regions? And since it's rumored that Issac's character will inherit the Millennium Falcon from Han Solo in Episode VII. I look forward to new adventures of Issac flying the Falcon across the galaxy in many future space battles in not just future movie episodes but future bridge novels between TFA & Episode VIII and novels set between Episodes VIII & IX and post-Episode IX novels too or perhaps even bridge novels to Episode X and beyond?
