SPOILER Star Wars: Rebels Finale Discussion and Party

Its all coming together. It reminds me of the season 2 avatar finale, which Filoni also worked on, where all the minor characters team up for the big battle.

Edit: I'll update when I get to see eps 2 and 3.



The good

* I love that the clones upgraded to an AT-AT home for all their juiper hunting needs

* Hondo having a moment of loyalty. "I follow that boy anywhere" (approximate quote)

* Zeb getting to use his strength to not be useless.

* The wolf attack. It was beautifully shot, and paid off Ezra animal connections.




The bad

* They make Sabine in Jetpack too powerful. She had an easier time taking out two ships than Hera did with the Ghost

* I get that they can't show wolves mauling people, but maybe cut away, rather than having all the wolves toss their enemies off the cliff

* Pryce could've won if she brought a squadron of ties and a garrison of troopers. Why is she so dumb?


The weird

 

The Bendu did tell Thrawn that he saw Thrawn's defeat. "Like many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace."

 

You don't need an army, you need a Wolfpack!

After how the second half of s4 started I expected to love this but I'm just kind of meh.

 

I loved it

 

But damn, I am so happy Filoni got the Wolves to pay off

Don't disagree at all.
Kanan's sacrifice is the pinnacle of the show for me.

 

Overall it was a good finale:

I was really disappointed that Gregor was the only real casualty on the hero side.

Ahsoka the White doesn't interest me.

Jacen Syndulla is interesting but why the hell would they give him green hair and also shouldn't he have Lekku? And why the hell would they pick the name Jacen?

Kallus finding out about the Lasats and being accepted by them is really great.

What happens to Wolffe?

Rex is Nik Sant.

I really don't like the Thrawn/Ezra cliffhanger.

The Sabine monologue was good but it felt kinda cheap.

Rukh's death was disappointing, he should have taken at least Zeb with him.

0 disagreements.

I'll throw in....Filoni is yet to give something an ending.
Ahsoka lives from TCW into Rebels.
Ezra, Ahsoka and everyone but Kanan live into....the next series that will inevitably be about Sabine finding Ezra (aka Ahsoka pt 3)

 

I hope Thrawn somehow survives this and continues on in books where Zahn can handle his end. I like him in the TV show but he is better as a book character.

 

They could help Rey...Ahsoka was very old.

 

Ultimately Rebels wasn't as good as the Clone Wars, but it had some great moments. Tonight's finale was fantastic.

Everything has been setting up for the Unknown Regions of space so that's were our heroes are headed.

Who trains Kanan's son? Does Ben Solo kill him? Does he end up in the Knights of Ren?

 

At this rate Ahsoka will live to be Yoda's age.

Jacen Syndulla?!?

 

WOW. Tonight's finale was fantastic! I thought I was thoroughly distraught until the last two minutes of the episode; then they introduced Hera and Jacen Syndulla and I completely lost it. And of course Ahsoka appearing at the end gave me chills. I'm okay with the open ended conclusion for Thrawn because he is way too good of a character to end his storyline here.

And while I do think Rukh should have had a better death and I'm not sure why Hera's kid has green hair instead of Lekku, overall I though it was a great end to the series!

 

Harloff in his review hit my biggest gripe I think: It plays as a great episode of Rebels but is it really a great finale?
