I was watching the Oscars with my wife last night (a day late) so I didn't get to watch this live, but I woke up at 4:00 in the morning to see it, since I couldn't sleep.

Wow, what a ride! I totally disagree that we didn't get any closure- Rebels has always been about the Liberation of Lothal- and that's pretty clearly a closed thread now. As for the characters- we do get closure on most of them. Just because they didn't die, have goals and pursuits still, or are even starting a new quest doesn't mean that they didn't have any closure. Man, if you think that, then there's at least one of this year's best picture nominees that would infuriate you.

    That being said:
    The good:
    - Everyone banding together. I missed Rex, Kallus, and Hondo, but I didn't expect Ketsu, Vizhago, and the other clone troopers (along with the Ugnaught "pirate") to show up too. Great way to get everyone together! And the battle was mostly really good! Also, seeing Hondo have some legitimate integrity for once in the beginning- even though he jokingly kept wanting to leave, he never did. After seeing him be a true scumbag in the past, this was really moving. I really liked Sabine in that scene too, overpowered as she seemed.

    - The wolves actually paid off in a big way (as did the purgill). I was worried Filoni's animal obsession was just for giggles, but he actually committed to it and it was kinda awesome. I don't want his next series to quite as heavily lean on that, but it was really cool here.

    - Thrawn's ruthlessness. I was kinda annoyed initially that Pryce seemed to be the focused villain of this episode, but that makes sense. She's more directly related to Lothal, and much as I love when Rebels goes interstellar, the series really is about Lothal. I accept that now. So, to have Thrawn arrive and basically be like "look, I'm done here, burn the place" was great.

    - Ezra's balancing act- seeing Ezra hold off waves of stormtroopers while simultaneously getting shot by Thrawn was incredibly tense. Really good set piece

    - That epilogue- I can see the flaws with an epilogue like this, but I still loved it. Seeing Kallus realize the Lasat still lived, Kanan and Hera's child, Ahsoka emerging like the winter warlock... it was all really cool. And that final mural definitely didn't not bring a tear to my eye.

    edit: More good I forgot

    - Ezra's goodbyes. Particularly the meilroorun fruit one, for some reason. It was just such a weird callback to an episode that I hated, but it was also so touching. Though you can throw the fact that Rex, Kallus, and especially Hondo didn't get a goodbye into the "not so good" category.

    - I liked the stealthy entrance to Lothal. Reminded me of entering Coruscant in Shadows of the Empire

    - I loved how the people of Lothal finally stood up for themselves and were ready to defend themselves against the Empire. That's been a theme since Ezra's first broadcast, and it was cool to see it come to fruition. I did think it was weird, though, that the Rebel Alliance played no part in the final episodes of this season. I know that the show is about Lothal, but It would've been cool to see them at least once. The show is called "Rebels", after all.

    The not so good

    - It's a small thing, but at one point in A Fool's Hope there's a group of rebels holding off troopers when Zeb runs to the front with a large repeater canon in hand and... throws it at stormtroopers. Then he takes out another smaller gun and either shoots it or whacks someone with it, I don't remember. I wouldn't have minded if they'd just played off a scene like that for laughs (because I actually did laugh when it happened) but I don't think it was intended to be humorous.

    - Ezra's bridge- Ironically Bridger's last scene was on a bridge, but how did he survive going into hyperspace when the bridge he was on was fully exposes. I guess I'm overthinking things, but it seemed weird to me. Also, I love the cliffhanger ending, but I'm probably gonna be real impatient until the next series comes out.

    “Ahsoka the White”, indeed.
    ...Oh the potential.

    I’m gonna miss this show.

Looking forward to what comes next.

OMG OMG OMG OMG it's another day and I'm still really happy and excited for what I've just seen.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that if there were a rule of two with George Lucas being the master, Dave Filoni would be his apprentice. This finale left me truly awed and it makes so much sense. I love how all the pieces are fitting together into the main storyline of the saga.

I truly liked how all the previous episodes - even those we called "filler" back in the day - came back into play to teach us one last lesson. As @LadyMusashi mentioned, I liked how the Bendu prophecy about Thrawn fit here and how there were no other Jedi on the board by the time Mon Mothma asks Bail Organa about his "friend the Jedi".

I have so many feelings, but the epilogue left me awestruck and full of hope for what it all this means for the future of the saga. I literally screamed: "JACEN SYNDULLA???" (Guess now we know where Kanan was back at the beginning of the Twin Suns episode when Ezra went into his room and found the holocron *evil grin*).

This monologue is really poignant, especially since my first episode I saw from Rebels was "A Princess in Lothal" and was that time when Ezra was looking at his parents image and Leia walks into the cockpit and gives him some words of wisdom about why it is important to keep fighting.

    Ahsoka The White! YESSSS!

That's interesting, since I saw connections with the Harry Potter franchise - another one of my favourite franchises. Ezra seeing his parents in the gateway reminded me of the Mirror of Erised (and in some way an inverse situation of the cave in Ahch-To when Rey wants to see her parents and only sees her reflection). For me the purgills were like the centaurs in the Forbidden Forest who took care of Dolores Umbridge.

I got to admit I thought at least the Force-sensitive ones were gonna be gone by the end. From a certain point of view they were. But as a wise old Jedi master once said: "No one's ever really gone".

    I only know one truth.

I want to see Ahsoka meeting Luke, calling him "Little Skyguy" or something of that sort and finding out from him that her former master had come back to the Light. PLEASEEEEEEEE! The possibilities are endless!!

Would totally be there with you on that only I think Filoni can make anything great at this stage. Vong but not so large a scale.

Oh yeah she was there with Rex.

Seriously, I want another scene as well of Rex meeting Luke, and telling him about his General Skywalker in The Clone Wars. PLEASEEEEEE

Same here! Please people do not start saying Ezra became Snoke LOL.

EXACTLY!! There is no other way since we don't know about compassion and forgiveness in this saga, right? *facepalm*

I imagine that the reconciliation with Kallus and the Lasat was quite a bit more drawn out than it seemed, but yeah, I thought that while it must've been so amazing for him to see the Lasat thriving, it was also probably pretty awkward for him to live among them. :p

Oh, that was actually my first thought. No joke.

but that's the point. we don't need all those details. the fact of that matter is that not only did he not get punished for nearly wiping a race out of existence in the galaxy, but he was ultimately embraced by them (with, i think, the added implication that they were more than willing to harbor him so that no harm should come to him after the fact). : D

Oh, I totally agree. I don't want to see the long drawn out process of Lasat mourning and reconciliation at the end of this series. :p

I'm just saying, I think they wisely pushed that stuff to behind the scenes, and the process probably wasn't as immediate as the montage made it seem. :)

Totally agree with the review's comment about Lord of the Rings. I was thinking to myself for a while when I first starting watching A Fool's Hope "when do they say that in Star Wars?" And then I realized they don't. Gandalf says it in Return of the King.

A great takeaway for Legends fans... Thrawn comms CAPTAIN PELLAEON as they are being attacked by the space whales. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the future!

I'm the opposite of Harloff. I think they were above average episodes that made a great finale.

Kinda wish it were a bit ambiguous. Seems like windows can be open when jumping to hyperspace :S.

    1) I thought Sabine was at her best when she exchanged that look with Ezra, before he goes up the hatch, rather than when she was more capable than a starfighter.

    2) What's a winter warlock?

    3) It didn't bother me, but I hated season 1, episode 2 so much, that I could've done without a reference to it.

    4) Not weird. Super necessary. The rebels don't get their first major victor until Scarif. I originally thought they'd get around this by having the ghost crew team with the Mandos, so that Mandalore got a victory, instead of the Rebel alliance, but the show chose to have the ghost crew fraction off and do their own thin.

    1) I haven't seen Harry potter in a while. Is there a deeper connection other than a swarm of things come out of nowhere to save the day? Like the ents in helm deep or any Deus Ex moment?

    2) NOOOOOOO!

Ooh, another thing I loved- confirmation that Rex was at Endor.

Yet another way to tease that fan theory is valid.

    1) Yeah, agree to disagree, I guess.

    2) :p
    [IMG]

    3) Yeah, I don't love that episode. But I think it's kind of a good call back to such an early time in the season, to such a relatively innocent adventure.

    4) Yeah, that makes sense. Still, no reference at all to Mothma or Saw really. Just sat kinda weird with me.

I know, I was so sad, I thought he had a chance after he regretted is crimes and actively helped the Rebellion out of his own volition, while accepting Zeb's hand of friendship. :p

I don't know how I should feel to be honest. I mean, I know where getting more tv shows. It's just I wasn't expecting them to take this all the way to post 6; which excites me because now that leak of Star Wars Resistance makes a bit more sense now. Ahoska is essentially the mentor figure now of the animation verse. At least we know why Ezra was not involved in the OT and apparently he is still alive.
