The dude's 84, I think we can all give him a break. It did sound a little different, but so did Lando's voice. I'm just glad they're keeping the old timers around :)

Edit: I didn't mean that to sound like I think anyone's busting his chops, I just meant that of course he's gonna sound different.

Obi Wan (and Yoda) knew in RotS, no one needed to tell him.

It has been commented about in other threads, but I believe it can be attributed to JEJ being much older than he was in the OT.

Zeb's emotions got the best of him and he rushed into a fight that he wasn't prepared for. Kallus defeated someone who wasn't thinking clearly, and held off a Jedi padawan and his untrained apprentice.

I get what you're saying, though. He isn't terrible, but he's only as good as he has to be. That doesn't make him seem like a very big threat, at least to me.

There really is no excuse for how bad the stormtroopers are, though. They seem to be the only thing that didn't improve in this episode.

I wouldn't expect them to improve much, they are basically just cannon fodder for the heroes after all, just like they were in the OT.

    My take on Vaders voice.
    1. Too much modulation makes him sound "echoey"? Too processed.
    2. You can hear James Earl Jones real voice a bit too much. Remember the actor is in his 80's. If you've ever seen JEJ in Coming to America or being interviewed, you can hear a district accent that isn't present in the Star Wars films but can be heard in Rebels.
    3. Sometimes you can totally hear the ESB version of Vader which is really cool.
    4. When JEJ recorded the new line "alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival" for the Special Editions, it sounded totally out of place compar e to the rest of the dialog. So it's not just this cartoon where JEJ didn't sound exactly the same.

Since we don't have Ben Burtt doing the recording or editing, I think we are getting the best effort of the Rebels TV team. It's not perfect, buts it's WORLDS better than some other voice actor!

Did they ever actually hear Anakin referred to as Vader? Plus Obi Wan left him for dead. I'm sure they'd put two and two together, but because both are in hiding and have never been in Vader's presence (post life support armor) they actually haven't confirmed it. Just my two cents.

Edit- Just remembered Obi Wan saw it in the security video at the temple. My bad.

I also liked how Vader referred to Asoka as Skywalker's apprentice. Further demonstrating the dissociation of Vader from Anakin. I think this makes Luke's redemption of him even greater

The fact that Ahsoka knows. How heartbreaking is that?

Finally got to it! Great episode!

-I'm happy we are not getting overloaded with Asohka. I'm happy she's here and a part of the team, but I'm glad they did not turn it into the "Asohka Show". I still think she deserves her own comic, novel, or animated show. Keeping my fingers crossed she makes it out of this season alive.

    - I would be good money we will be seeing Obi-Wan Kenobi sometime this season, most likely popping up in the last episode. I don't think he will be a huge part of the story, but I do believe he will have some sort of role to play. Especially when everyone finds out who Darth Vader really is.

-It's great to have Darth Vader back, but there is something off about the voice. I've seen other posts mentioning this. They went all out and got James Earl Jones, but the effects on it sound strange. It sounded deeper and more breathy in the OT. This is nitpicking, because it's pretty great they have this back.

-It was nice to see the Rebels crew having grown closer from season one. I like Kanan's reluctance to get involved in another war. Kanan seems quite haunted, and I'm glad Ezra is genuinely growing as a person.

-Great place to leave Asohka and Vader. I have a bad feeling she's going to go after him. Again, I'm really hoping they tell that story on its own, but at least we will see the beginning here.

Hope you all enjoyed it as well! Good night!

Yup. In the same bit of exposition from Palpatine that leads Obi-Wan to Mustafar.

One thing that I just realized, was there a reason Tarkin didn't appear in this episode? I'm just now rewatching "A Call to Action" where Tarkin arrives, and I can't remember if he got sent away from Lothal when Vader arrived or what.
