Star Wars: Resistance announced

The next Star Wars Animated Series will make its debut this Fall, an anime-inspired series created by Dave Filoni called Star Wars Resistance. Here is what we know about the series so far!





Announced over at StarWars.com, the new anime-styled animated series will be based around a new character, a pilot named Kauda Xiono, and feature some familiar faces and voices, Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron, Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma, BB-8, and more! The show will debut on the Disney Channel in the United States and eventually feature on Disney XD internationally! Here is the official release:

I just wish it was not on DisneyXD. I felt like that Rebels was held back because of it.

 

Not at all what I expected but I love love love the concept. A series focused on Resistance pilots inspired by anime and WWII? Sign me right the heck up.

 

Interesting. I was hoping they would do a post-TLJ pre-IX with Finn, Rey, Poe etc. but they'll probably wait until IX comes out for that.

I'm interested in what other characters they'll have. Leia seems like a given, so does 3PO, hopefully the other pilots like Nien, Snap and Jess, maybe Admiral Statura and Ackbar, maybe Hux and a little of Kylo. I wonder if they'll have Bloodline characters like Joph in it. Maybe even the Cardinal if this takes place before Phasma.

I wonder when they'll be a trailer.

 

Neat! I know that this image is too small of a sample to make a final judgement, but I really like the artstyle.

I knew there was a real reason Donald Faison was hanging around LFL, oh yeah he's big fan of the Rebels TV show, ok yeah... LOL good on him for keeping this under wraps. Star Wars anime? I wouldn't imagine this in a million years, aside from some fan made short films. Two of my favorite things mashed together. Can we get the show runners of Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo to work on this, Dave...plzzzz

 

More Star Wars is always good. At this point, I only wonder about how will it connect with the "Poe Dameron" comic. Also, if it's anime-inspired, than hopefully we'll get great animation and backgrounds, because anime is getting more and more beautiful and detailed over the years, but american animated series don't seem to.
Other than that, let's wait for a trailer.

 

The Poe comic takes place pretty close to TFA so this could be set before the Poe comic. The Resistance was formed 6 years before TFA so there is plenty of time to cover.

 

Wait for it, Wait for it... Star Wars fatigue... BAM!!! LOL

 

While a show about the Resistance doesn't interest me half as much as a show about the early New Republic would, it's about flying and it's got a new model of starfighter so, yeah, count me interested. They say the style is inspired by anime, so I'm hoping for a Last Exile vibe.

 

Hm, as of now nothing about this makes me excited. I don't know why, but it feels like something pretty small and even more kids-oriented than Rebels. I also don't think it'll add much to the key aspects of the main storyline. It can't, not until IX is out. Granted, it doesn't have to tie into the bigger stuff to be good, but it'll take more to sell fans on it that way.

I'm not yet sure what to think about the "anime-inspired" style. I'm cool with anime (huge Studio Ghibli fan) but western anime has always seemed a bit phoney to me.

Can't say much based on what we have. Looking forward to finding out more about the story, the tone and the art style.

 

This is where people will get the back story on First Order and Snoke. Like far more then some through away lines in the ST. Also for people who havent read Bloodline. Pre-Bloodline the New Republic was not aware of the First Order. First Order was just in the shadows at the time.

 

I see BB8 in the logo, which is am instant flag to me. I won't be watching it. Don't need it, don't want it. It'll probably be filled with more loony left liberal social justice brainwashing anyway....

 

New ship design.

 

Personally the only "Western Anime" I have seen is Avatar: The Last Airbender (which Filoni was also a part of) and it's sequel series and Avatar is one of the single best series I have ever watched with some of the best character development ever.

BB-8 being in the logo is worrisome but Rebels didn't have any "loony left liberal social justice brainwashing" and thats coming from someone who grown increasingly angry and disappointed with annoying, one-sided, and direct political messages in entertainment.

 

I have no doubt Dave will knock it out of the park, but call me when they announce the live action series. The TV shows just being animated is getting annoying.
