Yes, you've heard that right. Fan-favorite action-adventure game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will make an unexpected return through a Nintendo Switch port of its Wii version.

The news dropped via the February 9 Nintendo Direct livestream. Unsurprisingly, Star Wars retro ports veteran Aspyr is handling this re-release of the 2008 title which introduced Starkiller, Vader's secret apprentice, to the Legends expanded universe.

Choosing to port the Wii version of the game is an interesting decision; Xbox 360, PS3, and PC received a (back in the day) stunning release, but PS2, PSP, and Wii got their own versions, which were developed separately and cut back on graphics, physics, and levels, but instead packed exclusive content, such as the amazing Duel mode. Of course, the Wii version included motion controls, and it appears they're making the jump to Nintendo Switch, so this isn't a half-baked re-release -- Aspyr typically maintains high quality standards.

Check out the (brief) teaser trailer for this port below, through Lucasfilm Games' official Twitter account:

Pre-orders should be going up any moment now. For now, it appears a physical release isn't happening. However, Lucasfilm likes to collaborate with Limited Run Games to bring (limited) physical releases of old Star Wars games to collectors from time to time.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will Force-choke Nintendo Switch on April 20.

    Oooooooooo

I never played this game back in the day. I might need to take the leap when it hits the switch.

It was a good game, but the series was canceled after the second installment, and I kind of thought Disney wanted us to forget about TFU since they have already re-re-used the “Starkiller” name.

Admittedly, that name was actually never mentioned in the first game (at least in the PlayStation version).
