Troubled productions are not uncommon for the Star Wars franchise across its history of over 40 years, and sadly that seems to apply to the first live-action show in the franchise's history. Some concerning reports have arrived about The Mandalorian indicating valuable material has been stolen from the set.

According to The Blast (hat tip Collider Jedi Council), police are currently investigating a case involving expensive equipment stolen from the set of The Mandalorian at Manhattan Beach, California. It is believed that the camera equipment was stolen overnight. As it should be self-evident by that information, the information that's at risk of leaking out relates only to The Mandalorian and not anything else in Lucasfilm's pipeline. Most concerning is that a memory card containing information related to the show itself appears to be missing, and if that's the case, then raw footage for the series could be at risk of leaking out and revealing story-related secrets.

This could be a potential mess for Lucasfilm to have to sort out, one that is no doubt incredibly stressful and frustrating for the cast and crew of the series. This will undoubtedly result in an even tighter grip on the set. Hopefully Lucasfilm is able to recover the equipment and potential content taken from the set and those responsible are caught to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is currently filming and will be featured on Disney's upcoming streaming service.

A camera along would be up near $100k. Heaven help them if it was rigged up. That seems a massive breach of security as there is no way anyone in the camera department would steal a camera.

Ah, fer fekk sake! Having experienced a major burglary last year at the museum where I work, I don't envy the staff and people who worked at this site. This is horrible stuff... none of those people are gonna sleep well for a while.

If they just stole props I'd imagine those would be difficult enough to track down, but you would think with things like the high end cameras that they use to film that they would have some type of tracking device or something like that on them in case something like this was to happen. Also makes you wonder if the thieves were helped by somebody working security on the inside since I would imagine security around the set, especially around equipment, would be present at all hours.

They had to be employes. You can't just walk in on a set.

Unless the security on the set was just god awful which I highly doubt lol. Still a shame and hopefully this doesn't result in any delays or bad blood on the set. This is the show I'm most excited about and want it here sooner rather than later.

I can attest to it being MUCH easier for thieves to exploit a weakness than for employees/Security to foresee every potential scenario, so do not judge too quickly. It is very easy to judge (and by extension take advantage) but a lot harder to plan for all eventualities.
