This is the way. The Mandalorian's debut season has garnered fifteen nominations at the 2020 Primetime Emmy Awards. The nominations span a range of departments from costuming to editing to voice work, including Outstanding Guest Actor for Gincarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon and for the show itself in Outstanding Drama Series.

The Disney+ series also got a nod for its music, with Ludwig Göransson being nominated for Outstanding Music Composition, an impressive achievement considering the Star Wars musical legacy John Williams has created.

Taika Waititi was also nominated for his voice acting as droid IG-11 in the final episode of the series, Chapter 8: Redemption, which he also directed. See the full list of nominations below:

    Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance

It's an impressive list, especially since all but one of The Mandalorian's eight episodes was nominated for an award in some capacity. It's good to see the hard working team behind the show being recognized for their efforts and hopefully these nominations will boost the already popular shows reputation with a wider audience in the lead up to season 2's release later this year.

Additionally, Star Wars Resistance also received a nomination for:

    Outstanding Children's Program

    Brandon Auman, Executive Producer

    Athena Yvette Portillo, Executive Producer

    Dave Filoni, Executive Producer

    Justin Ridge, Executive Producer

    Sareana Sun, Executive Producer

    Shuzo John Shiota, Executive Producer

    Daisy Fang, Producer

    Jack Liang, Producer

So it's a good year for Star Wars at the Emmys!

This is stunning. I'm an avid awards watcher (although Oscars moreso than Emmys), and Mando getting nominated for Outstanding Drama Series is HUGE. Not least because you can count on the fingers of one hand the times that a scifi show got that honor. Recently Westworld, then there's Star Trek and Star Trek TNG, X-Files if you're generous with the genre definition. Very good company to be in.

I sure would have expected a ton of nominations for all the technical and design aspects, but I had thought that as a whole they'd consider it too lightweight. Between prestige shows that are tailor-made for awards like The Crown, Succession, Ozark, The Handmaid's Tale and so forth, an action adventure like The Mandalorian is a very unusual choice. Especially since other hyped new series like The Morning Show were excluded.

well...I am not surprised. It would be weird if such a good movie wouldn't get awards. Outstanding Cinematography is the most deserved awards imo

Great start for a Disney + original show. It deserves awards or at least be nominated and it could lead to an even bigger budget or something for season 3

Wow. The Mandolorian is an amazing show. But, 15 emmys. Well deserved! A lot of people saw the Mandolorian before I did. Before watching, I came into watching it with a mindset of, “Well, Ill see, if people say its so good, let me give it a try”

Lets just say it was way better than I expected and definitely blew me away. The characters are fun to follow. The plot is straight forward and eventful. The acting also was another key factor to why I enjoyed the first season. And for almost introducing Disney+, it did a good job. This show/series alone brought a ton of people to Disney+. It easily deserves these emmys. 15 is a lot. We will see. We shall see. Anyway, great show, deserves rewards.
