The behind-the-scenes video clip shown tonight on ABC for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now available online, providing hints at what's in store for our heroes on their last journey. And based on what's shown, there's confirmation we'll be seeing a familiar face from the original trilogy in the film.

The clip show revealed is the same one that was at Star Wars Celebration Chicago, with some new shots of The Rise of Skywalker's production. It's a mix of behind-the-scenes content from all of the Skywalker Saga movies, along with the newest installment. The video, like The Rise of Skywalker's marketing, heavily emphasizes that this is the end to one long story. Check it out below:

Eagle-eyed viewers may notice something of interest in the video: a short scene of Warwick Davis working with his costume...an Ewok costume. It may be a bit too early to tell, but based on the character's appearance, it certainly seems as though an elderly Wicket will at the very least be making a cameo in The Rise of Skywalker.

It will be interesting to see what other cameos we may be in store for in the final chapter of the saga. This wouldn't be the first time that the behind-the-scenes reel gave away a pretty unexpected appearance. With Rogue One, that movie's sizzle reel very briefly gave us our first glimpse at Darth Vader outside of his suit of armor, just before Director Krennic arrives on Mustafar. (And sure, Darth Vader was expected to cameo, but nobody was really counting on first seeing him in a healing chamber.)

Here are some cool screenshots from the featurette:

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 19.

    Wow!! Wicket is back?

Will they explain how Kylo got Vader's mask on Endor? Hummmm...interesting.

Well, I'm only half-joking when I say that Jannah will have been raised by Ewoks.
I don't think they will go into detail about Kylo obtaining Vader's mask, but I do think it will be alluded to by way of a plot point involving the First Order driving the Ewoks from the forest moon and them ultimately having *some kind of bond* with Jannah's tribe as they make a stand on the neighbouring moon of Kef Bir, where the throne room section of the Death Star is located.

Don't forget, Naomi Ackie said this: “When you find out more about Jannah’s history and where she comes from, [her weapon] makes a lot of sense. That’s all I can say, is the bow makes sense.” “Once you find out her story, you’re rooting for her and you can understand why she’s fighting.”

She's part of a tribe. They ride creatures, not vehicles. She appears to have pieces of what could be salvaged armour about her.
They seem a relatively primitive race.
I think there's a link there, like they owe they Ewoks some kind of debt, or have a shared background and a common enemy in the First Order...

Speculating here, but perhaps some Rebels stayed behind with the tribe, as integrated members, and Jannah descends from these non-Ewok people in Wicket's tribe? A natural born tribeswoman if you will :)

(For some reason I felt like the DS bits had rained down upon another moon of Endor... Still, I'd love to go back to that Sanctuary Moon :D ).

It would be interesting for 3PO to return to Endor, especially if the moon has become sick after his last visit from the effects of the Death Star and Palpatine's spirit infecting it. Wicket could be the character that shows our heroes where to find the Death Star which is the parasite sickening his world and his community.

While that is reasonable, I'd be interested to see how much they technologically regress in just a few decades (1 generation). I'd think these survivors wouldn't be marooned there so they probably have access to ships, droids, and other tech to have homesteads. It is certainly plausible but would be more realistic if it was a lengthier gap of time since ROTJ.

    Another thing to consider...
Abrams is clearly trying to bring as many familiar faces as possible back for the final installment - Lando, Palpatine, old-school Star Destroyers, Blockade Runnders, B-Wings, A-Wings,Y-Wings etc...

As soon as they elected to bring back Wicket and the Ewoks, they will have needed a way for them to interact with our new heroes, which could have resulted in Threepio having to be around acting as an intermediary all the time, and go through the whole "meeting the Ewoks, overcoming the language/culture barrier" schtick from Jedi all over again.

It makes more sense to just introduce a ready-made intermediary by having a tribe who can speak both basic and Wokese and are already integrated into Ewok society to smooth over that initial encounter.

Personally, I expect the focus will be on Jannah and her tribe, but the Ewoks will be there alongside them in a cameo role - kind of "these little guys are our friends, they helped the Rebellion overthrow the Empire, and they have been helping us fight the First Order too..."

I may be in a minority... but I love the Ewoks.

I can look back now and see how there was maybe an element to George's "dare to be cute" mantra which can be seen as a bit cynical. They did market the hell out of them.

But, yeah, I was just about young enough when the movie came out to not really care about all that. I just saw them as a new creature in the SW universe and took them at face value.
Jedi is still up there for me, I was never one of the original fans who considered it to be a disappointment, and the Ewoks never really bothered me at all.

Like I say, maybe if I had been just a couple of years older in 1983, things might have been different...

I love the idea itself that many dislike (and don't get me wrong, it's fair to disagree) about a colony
of creatures who know anything about technology yet manage to beat an enemy that relies heavily on it
