Here are the retail exclusive 4K/Blu-ray covers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as well as potential release dates for digital and Blu-ray.

Before we get to the covers and different versions, a bit on the potential release dates for the digital and physical versions of the home video release. I believe the movie will arrive on digital March 31, and on 4K/Blu-ray April 14.

Walmart lists a delivery date of April 17 for The Rise of Skywalker pre-orders that will ship on April 13. Now typically Blu-rays are released on Tuesdays so I believe the movie will come out Tuesday April 14, unless for some reason they change their patterns and release it on a Friday (doubt it). Both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi came out on Tuesdays so I think April 14th is the date. Like previous releases, the movie will likely be available for digital purchase two weeks prior, so March 31. I am not sure what Disney's plan is regarding the film's release on Disney Plus but if I had to guess, they'll try to push media sales of the film first before making it available on the streaming service, as an incentive for fans to buy the film.

The Target Exclusive 4K edition is available for pre-order and priced at $34.99. Here is the cover, which has a very classic 'A New Hope' feel to it, as well as and brief description of some the special features on the packaging.

The Best Buy SteelBook is available for pre-order, also priced at $34.99. The cover features a masked Kylo Ren seemingly split between the light and the dark on the rainy surfaces of the Death Star II wreckage.

The regular Blu-ray for Target and Best Buy, and all retailers, is being advertised with the theatrical poster for the film, which we imagine is what the cover will be for the regular version and priced at $24.99.

For fans in the UK, Zavvi is showcasing an eighty dollar collector's edition 3D Blu-ray set.

Personally, I am probably going with the Best Buy SteelBook. This will be a nice addition to my collection. How about you? Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is still in theaters if you feel April is too far away to see the film again.

I've been buying the Steelbook 4k from Best Buy, so it will be nice to have all 3 steelbooks though only way to view TFA in 4K is Disney+. I'm happy to see Walmart will also be selling the 3D version, I've had to buy the 3D versions from Amazon UK in the past.

I hope they officially announce a 9 movie box set around this time frame. I really don't want to double dip on Episode 9.

Upon further look of the 3D blu ray. You may be better off buying the 3D blu ray from Amazon co uk

Walmart $44.99 vs Amazon UK $26.06. There's still shipping and taxes, likely get it a bit late, still a big savings.

    Everytime I buy a SW release I KNOW I will be double-dipping. I just hope I don’t triple-dip! Lol

I'm planning to get the 3D steelbook and the big 4K box set. I'm a little disappointed there isn't a 'Big Sleeve Edition', although I wasn't expecting one at all after Solo didn't get one and they don't seem to be making them anymore since around then (although I think Germany got a Titanic one since).

"VORLÄUFIGE ABBILDUNG" though ;) Which I won't attempt to literally translate, but I believe means the artwork could, and probably will, change before the release. :)

Given the current situation, if I want it quick my choices will have to be either WalMart or Amazon

I'll have my 3D at some point.

4k digital will hold me for now.

I wasn’t impressed with the extras as the only decent documentary is about the Skywalker legacy. No deleted scenes was the real bummer.

    No deleted scenes? That's sucks.

I don't know if I will buy it then.

The only reason I think they didn’t release any deleted scenes is because there was so much publicity on different cuts of the movie, anything new would open up a can of worms. I know it’s all rumor but we hear about the JJ cut, Iger cut, Lucas cut. I don’t believe Rogue One Bluray had deleted scenes for that same reason?

Which is really sad, the same toxicity ruining everything Star Wars related has spread to bonus features. Part of me was glad the Skywalker Saga is over, I personally loved it, but the toxicity around Star Wars in general has me just wanting to let it all go. But Dave Filoni right now for me is the saving grace for the franchise. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there was a special edition of the sequel trilogy at some point, I've bought the original Trilogy about 15 times now from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray, original to special edition. Nothing is ever more reassured than making more money off fans who weren't given what they wanted in the first place. We will eventually get unaltered versions of the original trilogy, when they determine it will make them the most money. This movie missing the deleted scenes is one of the biggest disappointments in Star Wars history for me.

90% of the 'complaints' I read were along the lines that 1. The film was a mess, which is code for someone can't follow a complex plot or 2. My narrative choices weren't used. 3. My pet character was killed off or wasn't used .Very little had to with the lack of substance/depth or the film was too rushed.

I was on YT some weeks ago and the trailer for "George Lucas vs. The People'. And after I saw it, I realized that the fans back then and the ones now are essentially the same. Unhappy and very angry people who are just projecting the state of their own lives. You can see plenty of evidence in the comment section of click bait sites and YT where they advocate for Disney execs to be fired. If that's the kind of response your'e getting why bother. I'd just look at the balance sheets.

I’ll be honest, YouTube killed SW fandom. RedLetter Media really started the trend of overanalyzing the films and now the floodgates opened. Just do a Rise of Skywalker search on YouTube and the majority are ultra negative reviews. These aren’t just impartial critiques, these are full blown ‘Rise of Skywalker is the worst movie ever!!!’ videos.

I say this cause Rian Johnson even tweeted RedLetter Media in 2017 telling them to be gentle when they review The Last Jedi.

If they release the deleted scenes then every Geeks and Gamer YouTuber will overanalyze each scene saying this was the JJ cut, or the Iger cut.

So we end up with a crummy set of extras for The Rise of Skywalker to avoid controversy.
