The first teaser for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has managed to set a record for the franchise, as far as viewership metrics in a single 24-hour period goes.

Deadline investigated into the viewership metrics for The Rise of Skywalker's initial teaser, and found that it was seen over 111M times in one day. To put that into frame of comparison, the Thanksgiving 2014 teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was seen less than half as many times in the same amount of time, and the Celebration Orlando teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was seen 91M times in one day. The follow-up trailers for both movies saw a rise in viewership as excitement toward the film spiked upward with the marketing campaign in full swing. It's worth noting, however, that fewer of these views came from YouTube itself, but other social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

After concerns over the franchise's financial prospects after Solo: A Star Wars Story flopped at the box office, this news likely gives Lucasfilm a reason to have a well-needed sigh of relief. This amount of interest going into a movie's teaser trailer indicates that casual audiences and fans alike are engaged with the story going forward, setting the stage for the movie to become seen as the event film of the Holiday 2019 Season (sorry, Universal's Cats and Sony's Jumanji 3).

One thing of note is that these numbers, while impressive, still pale in comparison to the likes of Avengers: Infinity War (238M views in 24 hours) and Avengers: Endgame (289M views in 24 hours). One reason for this discrepancy is that the Star Wars franchise has a smaller international footprint in regions where it hasn't traditionally been seen as popular, such as in China, while Marvel's more recent start back in 2008 has propelled it to bigger and bigger international numbers. Deadline also reasons that The Rise of Skywalker's numbers were deflated by fans who were watching the teaser live (and it was shown three times in a row on Lucasfilm's official livestream) as opposed to seeing it through other outlets. Either way, both franchises are owned by Disney, and the company is going to make a fortune off of them regardless.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released on December 20, 2019.

This right here is why Disney would be making a HUGE mistake to end the Skywalker Saga. It would be like burning billions of unborn dollars.

Quick question - are we're comparing teaser with trailer?

    Source: screenrant:
Marvel Studios is deliberately keeping the plot of Avengers: Endgame under wraps, but based on the recent full-length trailer (and previously released footage) we can piece together an approximate timeline of, at the very least, the movie's first act.

    https://variety.com/2018/digital/ne...d-trailer-worldwide-24-hour-views-1203085074/

The “Avengers: Endgame” trailer was viewed 289 million times in its first 24 hours, after it was released around 5 a.m. PT Friday, according to Marvel Studios.

I can see why, weeks later, still can't stop playing the teaser on a loop.
