    STAR WARS: THE VINTAGE COLLECTION

Is a 3 3/4 (three and three-quarters inch) action figures that continues the legacy started by Kenner in 1978, how fitting TVC returns on the fortieth anniversary of this iconic toyline. Originally, The Vintage Collection ran from 2010-2013, producing high quality, super articulated action figures that represented the best toys on the shelf that Hasbro has ever produced. This Vintage Collection line was replaced by the Black Series line that incorporated 6 inch action figures. Recently, Hasbro and Wal Mart began a partnership that left super articulated action figures exclusive to Wal Mart, still under the Black Series brand, and only producing four to eight new characters as action figures, to the disappointment of avid collectors like myself.

At SWCO, during a panel that was a highlight of the event for me, really, the energy after the Hasbro presentation was electric and in the air, it was a joy, but I digress. Hasbro ended their presentation with the announcement that The Vintage Collection would return to worldwide retailers in Spring 2018, no longer would super articulated action figures remain a Wal Mart exclusive, producing a paltry handful of new figures a year. Instead, the line is returning in full force, with a fan choice poll where Doctor Aphra has won and will be produced as a figure when the line returns in 2018!

I couldn't be more excited for this turn of events, Star Wars will always be definitive as a 3 3/4 line of action figures and ships, producing characters that the 6 inch line will never produce.

If you are new to the hobby, super articulated refers to action figures with multiple points of articulation, or joints. Usually a minimum of 14 points of articulation.

Hasbro has continued to produce wide retail releases of 3 3/4 Star Wars action figures, but only at 5POA, or Five Points Of Articulation; swivels at the shoulders, legs, and head. But with the return of The Vintage Collection, it fulfills a promise to return to highly articulated figures on iconic cardbacks representing the entire Star Wars Saga!

If you're new to the hobby, or considering jumping in, I highly recommend you save your funds and prepare for Spring 2018 by sharing in the definitive line of Star Wars toys.

With the line returning, what are your hopes and aspirations for the line? What new vehicles would you like produced, and what are you most excited to see printed on the cardback? Myself, I'm thrilled to pick of a "The Last Jedi" card!

The 6 inch Black Series will continue, but The Vintage Collection will replace The Black Series 3.75" collection. Hasbro will be pushing TVC heavily, with an exclusive fan choice poll, and a large amount of figures in the first year. It's rumored to be nearly 40 figures, which is incredibly exciting.

I'd like to see the re-release of the Vintage collection vehicles. Especially the shuttle Tydirium.

the only reason I didn't start on these was due to the cost of the figures.

Via user "my kind of scum" from Jedi Council Forums:

I'm too young to be nostalgic about vintage figures, so these cards are simply not too appealing to me. Some of them feature very generic promotional photos we've seen in hundreds of places which makes them look fan-made (come on, the shot they picked for Jyn sucks). But maybe that's supposed to emulate the charm of the old cards, where some of the graphics were questionable as well.

Nonetheless, the figures are cool. I would love it if the basic 3.75" range was super-articulated like this. I hope this line will be bigger and more available than the 3.75" Black Series.

TVC will not be exclusive to any one source at all.

I checked all my local retailers and nobody is carrying the VC’s. There are very few Solo merchandise either. TLJ and Solo merchandise promotions have been terrible, IMO.
