What I meant is that the public thought Palpatine was weak old man who became evil after his love fricked him over when in reality Palpatine was a powerful sorecerer who was evil from birth.

Luceno said that Lucas made him edit the Plagueis novel to make Palpatine evil from birth.

Yep. And from Life Debt spoilers, Ben Solo might have been evil in his mother's womb.

She meditated too close to a tree, potted in the wrong soil.

That is indeed the implication in that novel. I couldn't help but feel that Palpatine was consciously modeled on real world psychopaths while reading the parts about him prior to his full recruitment by Plagueis. That's how I prefer my Palpatine honestly, a pure evil SOB that you love to hate. His interestingness comes not from some tragic backstory, but rather from what an amazing manipulator he was on multiple fronts. Love or hate him, one has to admit, he was one hell of an evil mastermind.

I'm more for the propaganda element as well when it comes to anything positive about Palpy ;).

I hate the idea of it being all a woman's fault yet again. Lucas really needed to just get over the breakup of his marriage already. The only Star Wars scenario I'd accept where a relationship is involved in turning someone to the dark side is if Luke were to get fked up because he has dirty thoughts about his sister  Palpatine is great because it is his lust for power that drives him, and that is what makes him dark. Leave it be please.

The Emperor is not about vanilla romance but about that UNLIMITED POWER. I think any relationship would be something more like a dom/sub or master/slave relationship.

The concept is reminiscent of many of the 1980's cyberpunk OVAs I enjoyed watching in my early to late teens as well as comics of that type- Jaegir (a story from the perspective of the Nords from Rogue Trooper), Judge Dredd, Robocop, Savage (story about an East End lorry driver fighting a partisan war against the Volgan Empire) and various others as well as games like Necromunda.

If they do resurrect this, I really hope they get a sweet darkwave or synthwave soundtrack instead of the usual classical. Something to match the gritty industrial tone.
