I'm gone for 4 whole days and I merged maybe 12 threads the day I'm back online. Go back through the threads and make sure there isn't a thread about the same topic before starting a new one.
If your idea pertains to a certain character, no need to create a thread for your own theory, just post it in that character's thread.
If you have an idea about the plot, post it in the thread speculating about the plot!
Oh we are discussing who the voice was in the trailer in the appropriate thread... don't start a new thread about who you think the voice was!
Come on people, I know we are all excited about this movie, but let's act like the adults we are and keep this a clean and tidy forum.

This is a poor policy that should be eliminated, for reasons I've mentioned here.

Furthermore, there's nothing childish about not wanting your conversation to be lumped into an unweildy thousand page thread, so your admonishment is wholly unwarranted.

This is a part of Standard message board etiquette not just this particular forum. You will encounter it anywhere you go. Since it was not a problem when the initial rules were created, it's being added in now.
    Thank you for understanding.

    Balderdash.

That of course is an incorrect assertion because I've engaged on many message boards over the decades and haven't found this particular bit of manufactured ettiquette to be standard much less understandable.

Here's a genuine and legitimate question:

Why have seperate threads at all?

After all, if we accept your standard in this rule as stated above, then every thread on this message board is about Star Wars, right? So no one should be starting a new thread about any Star Wars related topics, and all existing Star Wars related threads should be merged into one massive monster Star Wars thread, to keep the message board neat and tidy. People shouldn't be starting a new Star Wars thread just because they have their own ideas about Star Wars. Right?

Maybe because everyone you engaged with adhered to these standards so the issue never arose.

If you want to take my statement as literal then why are you even arguing with me?

I just said that your assertion that those standards are anything but standard. They are not in fact standards that anyone will encounter anywhere they go. That assertion is pure made-up rubbish.

I'm not even sure if this sentence has any discernable meaning.

What I am looking for, and why I am questioning this poorly thought out and irrational policy, is a direct answer to my direct questions.

    Why is that so difficult?

Clearly there is no standard as to where the topics to be merged begin and end. The standard is in fact, random and arbitrary. Ultimately, using this logic, there really should be only one lone thread.

Okay I'll get to work merging all topics into one singular thread to appease you. [/sarcasm]

It wouldn't be to appease me.

Rather, it would be to conform to your own stated standards.

    @Djas Puhr

The merging of redundant threads is standard message board protocol and NOT creating thousands of redundant threads is considered standard message board etiquette. Period. The fact that we had to specifically spell this out for you is ridiculous.

IF you don't like our policies or this message board you are free to leave and go to any of the other multitude of message boards that allow thousands of redundant threads for every single thought every single member has.

This is your final "friendly" reminder before we start issuing official warnings. This discussion/argument is closed.
