Rebecca Roanhorse wrote one heck of a great Star Wars story with so many characters featured that James and Kyle really didn't know where to start. Resistance Reborn is a love letter to fans who may be new to the saga, but also fans who've been there for the long haul. This book is such a triumph in storytelling and connectivity, so don't be surprised if James and Kyle gush a bit when discussing it. Bottom line, Rebecca Roanhorse did an amazing job including so many characters while also giving them purpose and not just walk-on roles, not to mention an incredibly compelling story to bring them all together.

Just a reminder, this is a SPOILER filled discussion. In this episode, we touch on:
    • Where in the timeline between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker this takes place
    • All of the returning characters and their canonical connections
    • The disturbing implications of First Order indoctrination
    • Will these characters show up in The Rise of Skywalker or is this the fan service we are getting?
    • Our heroes finding themselves, dealing with the events of The Last Jedi, and how their stories move forward into The Rise of Skywalker
    • Comparable Star Wars novels

Walmart has the new hardcover of Star Wars Resistance Reborn on sale pretty cheap either at 16 or 20 bucks. Not bad at all

I just finished it! I...wasn't too impressed. The concepts were nice, but this was the first time I felt like shout-outs and cameos weren't that positive. All the shout-outs to things I've watched or read were nice, but gratuitous. A weird feeling, since I usually don't mind it. And no mention of the Colossus! Not even that they're MIA. Just...nothing...

Anyways, the story itself wasn't bad, and I liked Poe's evolution to leader and Leia having some more screen-time. Rey and Finn were there too, more present in the first and second half of the book respectively. I also was amused at how Finn's love life was just mega-friend-zoned (with Poe being the potential major exception). That could very much change, but we'll have to wait and see.

The Main Prisoner was a nice reward, but overall this book felt...disjointed? The main plot didn't begin until about halfway through the book, and I never felt the tension. To me, this was a good Star Wars book, but not a great one.

It´s a good book, but of course, it didn´t affect the plot of TROS
