SWNNs Forum 'The Cantina' Gets a Facelift!

Our forum, 'The Cantina', just recently celebrated its second birthday, and what an amazing two years it has been! As we look back on the success of our forum, we also look ahead to the future, as we are constantly working to make it the best place for Star Wars chatter in the galaxy. As of today, we have implemented some new updates trying to make it even better. Read on to find out what the new updates are, and if you're still not familiar with the Cantina, find out what it is all about.


First of all, the Cantina forum's main objective has always been to connect Star Wars fans around the globe in friendly and constructive discussions. We're not just trying to maintain a place that grows exponentially. That's why we have specific system tools that prevent spam and trolls from joining the boards. For example, to join the boards you need to correctly answer a Star Wars related question. Then, if you want to become part of the community and be able to post threads, you first have to earn that with a certain amount of posts.

Cantina Trophies​

To make the discussions even more entertaining, we implemented a trophy system, where you collect Star Wars badges and trophies based on your posts, likes received and so on. Depending on your trophies, you grow in rank as well, from a simple 'Clone', through a 'Jedi Master' and on to becoming 'One with the Force'.

Cantina Ratings​

Also, we have a ratings system with which you can rate the posts of your fellow members. They are positive, neutral and negative, and they actually reflect on your trophies.


We also have a credits system on the forum. Based on their trophies, posts and ratings, members gather fictional Cantina credits which they can spend in our Casino, making bets and predictions or use them to enter competitions and other promotions.


Now, here are some of the new updates:

• We changed the forum banner (see title image).

• We have a new, more simple forum structure with new icons.

• We have a new forum named 'SWNN News Feed'. Every article from the main SWNN site will automatically be posted in this forum under the user SWNN Probe. Also a link to this newly created thread will be automatically created in the post on the SWNN site. This way people can decide if to comment on the site using our Disqus comments system, or go straight to the forum and chat there.

• We have a new forum dedicated to our podcast 'The Resistance Broadcast'. Every show will be posted there in a new thread. We will encourage Cantina members to actively participate with our podcast. They will ask questions and make suggestions, and at times may be able to join the show as guests. In time, we will build a core team around which every show will be situated.

• In the Casino, we will have a sub-forum named 'Competitions'. On a monthly basis we will be running competitions with prizes that will be supplied by SWNN. Anyone (even staff and 1030th members) will be able to enter these Competitions after paying a certain fee with their fictional Cantina credits. This is made mainly for our regular members since we have users with tens of thousands of Cantina credits. This way they will start spending credits and even win real life prizes in the process.
