It's been quite a while since we've had any substantial updates on the future state of Star Wars in the Disney Parks. Due to the ongoing pandemic and it's impacts on the travel and tourism industries, Disney has been understandably quiet on the state of future projects. But one project that is continuing construction is the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Josh D'Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks presented at the IAAPA Virtual Expo this morning and provided a small update.

The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be a new kind of experience. Part hotel and part interactive experience, the resort will invite guests to stay within a fully realized Star Wars inspired world for 2 days and 2 nights. We've seen concept art in the past showing off what some aspects of the project are expected to look like, but today D'Amaro revealed a look at a completed mock up of what the individual hotel rooms within the Galactic Starcruiser will look like.

To no one's surprise, the rooms reflect the look and feel of the Star Wars universe pretty well. Disney has shown in the past that they have a pretty strong grasp on the aesthetics of that galaxy far, far away. If the activities and interactions are up to that same standard this will be a very big draw for Star Wars fans when it opens. No official opening date has been announced yet. Before the parks shut down earlier this year, the resort was originally scheduled to open sometime in 2021. Whether that date holds or not remains to be seen.
