Tales of the Jedi marked the creation of the Old Republic era. It was for Tales of the Jedi that concepts such as Korriban and Sith holocrons were created. Who here has read Tales of the Jedi? What did you think?

OMG Tales of the Jedi was the greatest thing i've read in Star Wars (until Legacy, but Crimson Empire and Tag & Bink were my favorites)

Every SW Fan should read The Great Sith War and know about Nomi Sunrider and Ulic Qel Droma (by the way Kylo, Exar Kun rules)

"The Freddon Nadd Uprising" is one the best SW EU stories ever

Naga Sadow was one of the First Sith Lords we saw (could be a very cool ancester to Snoke)

A Reminder to everybody that "Tom Veitch" wrote some of the best and most talked about stories of the EU (and i always thought he and his brother Rick were only one author, a super god comics creator), all of us Sw Fans should read at least a couple of times some of his works: "Tales of the Jedi" and "Dark Empire" (i would also recomend "Crimson Empire" as a fundamental read)

The Sith War marked the first appearance of the saberstaff that would later be made famous by Maul. When confronted by his staff-wielding former master, Exar fuses two lightsabers together to form a saberstaff. Exar Kun also seems to share Kylo's fanaticism for powerful beings of a bygone era (Exar for Naga Sadow and Marka Ragnos, Kylo for Vader). Snoke's mastery over Kylo is similar to Exar's mastery over Kyp Durron.

I've read all the comics in the Tales of the Jedi series, great stuff. Without Tales of the Jedi we don't have KotOR, most of the backstory and much of the lore of the game comes from things established in Tales of the Jedi. I will say that some people may be put off by the artwork in some of the series though, the quality can sometimes vary quite a bit from story arc to story arc. I think the story more than makes up for that, but some may have issues with it.

Fun fact, Lucasfilm was more involved in the initial creation of the series than they were in a lot of other EU material. In particular the designs for the Sith and their Empire had to be sent back and forth and be approved by Lucasfilm. Star Wars Insider had a back to back series on the development of it, but I can't remember which issues that was in.

Honestly, the thing that stuck to me most was the Quel-Droma's. The war itself colored them, and twisted and harmed both, and seeing their final duel, in drawings and comics, was always and will always be memorable to me. Exar Kun never felt like he had a set character to me, which is why I don't think as highly of him as I used to. PLus, both Quel Droma's rocked their look, and beating a Mandalore is epic.
