Apologies in advance for another quickie OT aside but...THIS ^^^^^^ IS THE WAY that mature, self-assured, forum mods do their jobs, unlike the juveniles on another SW message board site that shall remain nameless. ;)

I appreciate your perspective but the decision was made to bring back Temuera Morrison - this time as Boba Fett. Given his appearance in Mando's 'The Tragedy.' I thought he was appropriately badass. :)

Maybe it's just me, but after escaping the Sarlac Pit and being made a desert slave by the Tuskin Raiders, I wasn't expecting him to suddenly morph into a comic book super villain who'd blow everybody away.

First off, we're learning the 'savage' race of Tusken Raiders are not as savage as we previously thought. I thought that it (along with Favreau's depiction in Mando) was a good thing. It gave the world of Star Wars a greater sense of realism.

Second, it's hard to ignore that Morrison is over 60 years old. Rather than shy away from it, the show's creators have tried to embrace it by making this show about 'what happens to "The Fastest Gun in the West" when he realizes he's NOT the fastest anymore? And what happens when this loner, 'just give me my next job' bounty hunter becomes part of a family?

Note: You're playing in someone's private yard, here. If you don't listen to their or their lieutenants' communiqué, you don't get to play. In other words, you might not do PMs in general, but you DEFINITELY "do" Mods' and Staffers' PMs, or... you don't "do" the Cantina at all; 'tis that simple.

It's also been 5 years since anyone has heard of or seen from him. Most thought he was dead. I'm sure there's no shortage of scum and villainy in the GFFA, so Fett is probably pretty low on the "big and bad" totem pole... until he earns some of that infamy back.

Yep, I totally empathize with where your coming from. I'm a simple OT man trying to make my way in the Disney star wars universe and let me tell you, it ain't always easy. Over the course of time since TFA and being a member here, I've learned to detach my heart strings from all of the elements that I know I won't like or support. Being that we are now in the Disney star wars era, for and OT guy like myself, those elements tend to be more than less. My POV is the same for TBOBF. Learning basic facts that I may have not considered and listening to another POV from members on this board and fans in general helps me realize why something that I myself thought made no sense actually has some validity to it. What @DarthSnow mentioned above has done just that. Fett is in a totally different place now both physically and mentally. He obviously want's to ascend from the rag tag lonely life of a bounty hunter and it looks like his former profession is definitely going to help him achieve his new goals in life. In life things change. This fact alone helps me to not stay stuck in a rut of seeing star wars characters forever locked in carbon freeze unable to grow or evolve. Realizing this aids me in enjoying new content featuring old characters. It helps me to not be so uptight. Sure I want The Fett show to be f-ing awesome but I'm prepared for it to be just ok if that's the way it ends up being, I've become quite resigned. If it does, I'll be good with a few cool surprises and some really cool a## combat sequences. I want to see Black Krrsantan catch some serious wreck. To be honest I kind of want him to give Fett a serious run for his money, like the final Qui Gonn/Maul battle.

Back on topic, I learned something pretty kick-butt about TBOBF this morning: It’s a stunt woman — Joanna Bennet — who played the badass dark Tusken.

She’s touted as the top female stunt person in Hollywood and was the stunt-double for Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel.

Yeah i didn't know that until the other day. I just thought the tusken was a skinny guy. In hindsight, it's obvious, with the straps imitating hair. I would really like to know what they look like but in a way I'd like it to remain a mystery.

I think it's cool Tamura Morrison does his own stunts. Im almost half his age and he's in much better shape. At least in the main storyline Fennec is the enforcer. Boba is getting old, that's why he wants to be the boss, and he thinks before he shoots.

Favreau hasn't hit us over the head with the fact that The Most Badass of the Tusken Raiders is a woman. But I would guess that there's an important reason behind the character's gender that we've yet to learn.

I saw GFFA in a number of posts this past weekend and wondered what it meant. However, I avoided publicly asking what the acronym stood for because I *just knew* the answer would be so damn obvious that it would make me look like a total idiot. Fortunately, the answer finally dawned on me last night. Yep, it WAS painfully obvious. :) :) :)

For anyone in the same boat as I was -- Hint: think of the very first image from the classic SW films.

Hahaha sorry about that -- ironically, same story for me though, I was here wayyyy too long before I realized we were talking about galaxy far far away. :D

Honestly the biggest takeaway from any of that should be that gender really doesn't matter. What's important is the way you conduct yourself and whether you contribute to the group in a positive and meaningful way.

While I speculated there might be a reason for it, nevertheless, I totally agree with you.

One of the coolest aspects of The Mandalorian's Season 2 finale is that we watched four badass women leading the charge against Moff Gideon's forces without any attention being given to their gender. Now THAT is progress.

I like that phonetically you can pronounce the initialism as 'guffaw'. Makes me smile.

I think the story is turning a corner. We still haven't seen what leads up to Boba taking over Jabba's palace. I would think there would be motivation to come back to Jabba's palace to take over. I'm guessing by the second half of the season, the flashbacks will be minimalized as the story picks up. Boba Fett is the most mysterious character in Star Wars everyone knows. Everyone seems to have what they think Boba is in their heads because Star Wars never defined him. Now some are getting upset because what we are getting isn't what people had in their heads. I personally can't wait to see what is planned for him. The planning for Boba has to go back to when they were writing the Mandalorian, at least with Season 2. The Tuscan apparel is clearly integrated with Boba's armor then, which means everything with the Tuscan Raiders was all planned. For me it would be really funny to see Cobb Vanth run into Boba something I'm sure at some point we'll get. The new connection with Cobb and the Tuscan Raiders may lend to it happening. We just have to trust the process and the fact that it is in Filoni and Favreau's hands. At some point the story has to make a move from back story to the actual plot, I think we're almost there.

As you mentioned you are rating it in pieces, after watching both multiple times separately, I found when I watched them episode 1 right into 2 it was a lot more fluid. Part of me almost wants to wait for all of them to release to watch them in succession so it doesn't feel as broken up with the two timelines. The fan in me won't let that happen.

Great episode. I was worried about it turning into another Man Called Horse/Dances With Wolves type thing with the stranger showing the tribesmen how to be better tribesmen. But it's being done tastefully, I feel. Even with the added "El Lawrenz" aspect. And anything that ends with a celebration dance is only adding to the plus column. (Wouldn't mind seeing a musical number in Flashdance lady's joint at some point.) The Hutts were a joy. "The Twins" lol. Although you have to wonder why so many visitors to Jabba's Palace manage to stand on that one small trap door rather than anywhere else. Surely they must know by now.

I feel I should point out that Boba Fett is just a bounty hunter like Din was when we met him. Any notions that he's an implacable villain and sociopath have been drawn from material that has questionable authority these days. Just like it was before George retired. Anything that's not in the movies is irrelevant until we're told otherwise.

In fact Boba is probably more likely to be "nice" to people in certain situations than Din was when we were introduced to him and his staunch beliefs, before he learned to adapt when it was expedient to. Offering to free the Rodian would have been the smart thing to do. It might have kept him quiet. And two escapees potentially gives the pursuers more to deal with. Increasing the chances of at least one of them getting away.

...and now I'm thinking of all of the "guffaw"ing in The Wheel of Time...

I agree and disagree here. Anything that's not in the canon should be considered irrelevant for the most part, but Boba's reputation from previous canon outings should most certainly be relevant. If it's not, it's a disservice to those who have invested themselves in those outings IMO. But even beyond that, I do think that this show is built around Boba's reputation, canon or otherwise.

About this episode, I rewatched it, this time with my dad. He liked it a LOT more than the first one, and even claimed it was "better than the last two movies" (meaning TLJ and TROS). My complaints from my first viewing still stand for me, but be happy that BOBF fans, you got another one!

I feel the same. I know payed any attention to the scene being 4 women, I recognized them as true strong women and true mandolorians.
