I wouldn’t be surprised if we find the Majordomo working for Boba next episode now that the mayor has deserted him.

I agree, yeah, the speeder chase seemed like it was pretty deliberately meant to be silly, what with all the property destruction and knocking over multiple baskets of fruit and smashing into a Jabba concept art painting from Return of the Jedi. Even the Majordomo's expressions of distress are pretty hammed-up and goofy. Honestly, it almost felt like something out of Looney Tunes (not that I minded; I had fun with it). I guess it's jarring when you compare it to some of the genuinely dark and gritty stuff in the same episode, like the Tusken massacre, and Black Krrsantan's sudden and scary attack, but Star Wars has always had that silly and serious juxtaposition.

I suspect the showrunners ratcheted up the chase scene’s silliness level for the very reasons you’ve mentioned.

But even with the decision to go with a silly, over-the-top ‘looney tunes’ chase, we’ve seen here how many fans still took it seriously.

Jeez. Really? I thought he was done... And the last one...

Sorry, I know is your personal opinion but i completly disagree with it. Love earlier RR works but visually JJ is miles far away from him (the use of light, special effects, acting direction...). TFA and TROS, as Star Trek and others, are visually so competent. He always puts the story over special effects. Am not a director critic either but I trully consider TFA a masterclass of direction of an action film with special effects. And the evolution of shots, specially over Kylo Ren character, is so interesting to analize.

I still don't buy this character. For me is overacting and is quite distracting.

So... do we all agree that Fett is going to either find some sort of oasis on Tatooine, or perhaps a subterranean ocean? There's been a lot of talk about Tatooine's watery past in the past few episodes.

I heard the Empire completely banned podracing. And that's the reason they are missing in ANH.
If there was still podracing by the times of ANH, then
    a) Luke would have been a podracer (remember how he loves to pilot)
    b) being such a racer, he would inevitably have found something about a former Skywalker, not so far in Mos Espa, who once won a Boonta Eve race some twenty years ago. Tatooine is not so populated, the little human who buried a dug could not have been forgotten.

I find your lack of faith..... unnatural.

Man [IMG] we are on Tatooine : plase consider saying "After the suns go down".

I’ve rewatched all three episodes and I’ll stand to agree with those who believe episode three shouldn’t have made the cut on certain scenes. The encounter between Boba and Krrrsantan should’ve been a lot more dramatic it felt sloppy. The life and death struggle between the two felt like your average boxing match. Overall I’m enjoying the series episode two has without a doubt been the best of all chapters.

It hasn’t started off slow it started off with an amazing past and present. Also, set us up for exploring the Tusken Raiders culture which until now I never knew about. People ask 'Why do we need to know about the Tusken Raiders?' they as well as the Jawa's are the original natives of Tatoonine.

Black Krrsantan ain't done or at least I sure hope not and he'll return in the last episode to help Boba or something. Maybe he'll appear in Obi-Wan as well

    Enjoyable episode.

Absolutely loved the shot when the Twins presented Danny Trejo... errm.. I mean the Rancor.

Black Cassandra was great this episode, I did worry that he didn't look that intimidating in the last episode, but he was definitely giving off much bigger "Predator vibes" this episode. Hope we see him again.

I liked the Dathomir name check.

The way the speeder chase was shot... not so great. Looked bloody awful in fact. I also agree that the 'bikes' used by the street kids look out of place, but I accept this is probably a creative choice to put them visually opposite to the swoop gang Boba will be going after - and, being fair... some people think this looks cool...

Question: Have we ever seen an assassin in Star Wars actually successfully assassinate someone?

Star Wars hipsters? Sure, why not? Hell, there’s a straight up 50s diners in this goofy galaxy. That’s not any worse, I guess.

I’d be ever so grateful if we could get past this lackluster convention of the super strong foe who ineffectively tosses our hero around a room instead of earnestly trying to beat them to death. Please stop this. You can do better.

The Hutts just have a baby rancor laying around? Like is there a stockpile of them? OK.

So, he was bred to fight, but actually has hidden emotional depths? <cough cough> And Fennec is the “heavy handed” one? :D
Years? I didn’t really get the impression that much time had past. But maybe so.
Weird they’d be having this discussion now and not . . . you know . . . way before now. But it’s considerate to the audience I suppose :)

A decent little ‘set the table’ episode. Not terribly exciting, but did an alright job putting the pieces in their places while being entertaining enough.

It successfully illustrated how Boba’s new philosophy of ‘mercy breeding loyalty’ is paying dividends. He saved Fennec. He sparred the Gamorreans. He gave the Espa dweebs a purpose. And when he was under attack, that’s who came to his defense. Nice and tidy. He continues with that theme and spares bigger angrier Chewbacca guy. I reckon those karma points will end up paying off too down the line.

Still waiting to find out why I should be rooting for our main character being recognized as the head of crime over an impoverished world though.

We're told that the events of The Mandalorian take place five years after ROTJ.

If Boba Fett is eaten by the Sarlacc in ROTJ and presumed dead--- but is seen alive in Season 2 of Mando, it begs the question: what's he been doing during this five-plus years of time that's passed? -- and what the heck happened to his armor?

Sure seems to me that the showrunners are slowly but surely, episode by episode, explaining the five year gap to us.

It really was not a good moment.

It reminded me of that old Seinfeld episode

I was going to wake up and watch it before work. My body didn't let me. I was tempted to check this thread at work yesterday, but I persevered. I hope you still enjoyed the episode.

Well, yeah. But was all that business with the Tuskens over the course of years or months? Honestly, I don’t really care, but the impression I got was that all that post-Sarlacc material happened in relatively quick succession - playing out over a number of weeks. Either way is fine for me. It just wasn’t my read. So I was curious what gave you that idea.

Since these sequences are being relayed to us as memories within dreams though, I’m not sure accuracy of time is all that significant anyway.
Don’t we already know that though? The Jawas jacked it. Then Timothy Olyphant nabbed it from them so he could look incredibly awkward for a bit.
I don’t know, man. That’s one heck of an out there theory. Flashbacks - being used to convey backstory? Highly irregular :D

If all those flashbacks happened only weeks apart, Boba Fett gets an A+ for learning the Tusken tribe's language so quickly. :)

For sure. And if it takes place over years, then all the credit in the world to that adorable white onesie of his for holding up all that time. Really outstanding craftsmanship.

I laughed out loud that after Boba supposedly got his butt kicked by the giant assassin Wookie he made sure to pull on his bath robe when he went downstairs to the throne room immediately after…

Boba may have cheated death once again but he remains modest about his figure in a crisis!

    Hilariously poor writing.

Durable? Yes. But the REAL issue was how badly it smelled over time!.

I suspect complains from the tribe led the wise chieftain to initiate Boba into their tribe and give him fresh, new duds. :) :) :)

Huh? After a thwarted assassination attempt, you think most Kings, dukes, or, in this case, crime lords would present themselves nearly naked to their subjects inside their throne room? If you want to find examples of bad writing, by all means, go for it. But this ain't one of 'em.

I'm wondering how much hangover some people are having here is from the Mando 2 season which gave the audience fan service every couple of episodes. If Mando the TV series never existed, would people be complaining as loudly about 3 episodes of world building? I've noticed this in some of the Marvel series where some fans seemed more preoccupied about "who is gonna show up" than the story itself. Fan service isn't plot. So when people say "this series has no plot" I'm perplexed if they understand plot.

I'm not complaining about fan service, but it's probably the nature of online fandom to enjoy fan service more than the average person. I've been fascinated by online discourse over the last five years because certain viewpoints dominate online discourse yet aren't really prevalent outside the internet reality. Sadly though, those viewpoints are louder online, get coverage they probably shouldn't receive, and then bleed into pop culture.
