Boba spends most of his time in Mos Espa. Pelli hangs out in Mos Eisley. They're not the same. Maybe it's just Mos Espa that people don't like. They've sort of continued the look from TPM and AOTC. So maybe that displeases some people. I bet more people would be displeased to say the least if they chose to "change" the look of Mos Espa from the prequels.

What a terrific surprise episode. Essentially this works as a stand alone episode to by us time before Mando 3 next year. There's a ton of stuff that we can discuss about how this features in the future of his story and it fits perfectly into where Boba Fett's story is taking us.

I can't wait to see how the last two episodes unfold.

Again there's a very strong possibility that Mando picking up a bounty, finding the covert, getting kicked out the covert, then going back to Tatooine and running into the Rangers and Fennec Shand again could all have been designed as little "meanwhile on (insert planet/place name). " sections spread out in the first half of the show. But at some point they thought that cutting away to his story every episode wasn't working or decided giving a whole episode over to it worked better. Books quite often devote whole chapters to side characters. And in some cases they tell a whole other story, beginning, middle and end before returning to the main one.

TBOBF is too short, too few episodes IMO to give one over to Mando even if it is a great episode. I want more Boba too and better writing for BOBF.

It usually requires knowledge of the outcomes and how long is necessary to get to those outcomes to be able to judge if something is too short or has too much filler. Star Wars fans often seem to know if something's taking too long or hasn't got time to get where it's going before they've barely got their seat belt fastened for the ride that someone else is taking on, they know not where. That's why whenever I read any fan talk about "course correction" i imagine them sitting in the back seat of a car with a map they've drawn themselves even though they don't know what their destination is but telling the driver they've gone the wrong way.

I must say I was a bit surprised at the spear being melted down so quickly. It's explained that Beskar is not forged into weapons (except Whistling Birds I suppose) but what's to stop non-Mandalorians forging a weapon to use on Mandalorians? I like that it was made into something for Grogu but it didn't seem necessary that it be the spear.

And how does the armorer have so much experience with training someone how to use the dark saber? Where and when did she obtain that?

Well, that was a surprise, for sure, but a welcome one.

I knew Din Djarin couldn't remain a 'religious zealot' if he was to unite/rule/fight for the Mandalor. And if showing his face to the Child cannot be forgiven, the covert really does not deserve him. Still, it was heartbreaking, he grew up with these people. But, he has outgrown them.

I liked everything about this episode, the bounty collecting, the lightsaber fight, the ship rebuilding, eff you to the Republic fighters (I laughed out loud).

Also, I didn't need to know that Jawas are furry, thank you for that image, Peli, lol.

Exactly. Incredible how all parts worked so well in every level.
The pacing, the visuals, the dialogs, the acting, the countless references, the sound, those little aspects of a great backstory (Jedi, Mandalore, Empire, Republic, Boba Fett line...).
It felt refreshing, original, diferent, but with the proper look and mood.

With that end I wonder if we will see Grogu, or Luke or a new Jedi Temple. Definetly the next chapter (with Filoni directing it) can blow our minds again. Hope for the best.

I think something will happen on tattooine that has to stop Mando going to see Grogu first, and that story we will see for sure in season 3 of Mando.

I'm a huge sucker for weird interludes like this.

KHII's opening, Haytham in ACIII, stuff like that. I just love when an established formula is shattered for some side story. Like genuinely, I'm not being sarcastic, I love the change of pace.

And this is an absolutely brilliant example, in my opinion. I'm way more excited for Mando S3 now that I was last year... and tbh, I'm more hype for it than I even am for the rest of this show. Such a cool change of pace, change of setting... I just find it really refreshing, and it goes a long way to mopping up the chaos that we were left in the wake of last year (not necessarily in a bad way, of course).

I guess I can see how fans are a little frustrated that this wasn't about the titular character, and that Mando actually kinda outshines Fett in his own show. But I think consider two things:
    - The Book of Boba Fett has yet to really commit to telling much of its story in the "modern" Mos Espa setting. To be honest, it almost feels like a frame story to host these flashbacks/side stories. I wonder if the final two episodes will even really focus that much on the final fight still, or if we'll still get supplemental content. It really feels like if you're looking for this frame story to be some big complex thing, you'll be disappointed- I don't think that's what the story is trying to do. It's an interlude for the live action shows right now.

    - We're getting seven episodes. That's kind of a weird number, right? Well, perhaps that accounts for 6 Fett episodes (a much more common number) and an extra helping with Mando. Maybe that helps some of you rationalize how/why something like this exists.

Also, the Totally Not Halo space station was really cool design. Totally makes up for my disappointment that the rest of the series has been on Tatooine so far :p

I think there's nothing wrong with the 'one off episode with different main character/focus' trope, but it's a little sad in this case bc the main show has been quite messy in comparison - it doesn't feel like one part of a great show, it outshines it. Still, as a stand alone thing it was really great, answered quite a few questions the Mando finale had left us with, and had some really cool cinematography/locations. Also loved seeing the BD unit. Hopefully they manage to tie it in well with the last two episodes.

I will say... how the heck is Mando supposed to take in bounties in an N1?

You know Grogu's gonna hang out in that droid pit, though. :)

Same thing crossed my mind. It's kind of like a building contractor trading in his work truck on a Maserati, isn't it?

    Right?

Like, I guess I could maybe see Mando giving up hunting, but:

    1. Pelli doesn't know that
    and
    2. He clearly hasn't, he's bounty hunting in this very episode

    Anyway, when is #PelliMottoIsASithLord starting?
