Can't tell if it's a good thing that the best episode didn't have the Boba Fett in it...

The bounties are going to come in cold it seems. When Grogu's not hanging out that pod there is enough room for a few heads.

Nah... Grogu's a teen now and hanging out with his adopted Dad won't be 'cool' enough. The little green dude will head off to pick up some power converters with his friends and Din will use the domed droid pod as a portable carbon freezer :D

Cross-overs have been a fun part of the comic book universe since the Golden Age of Marvel back in the 1960s. And since the MCU Age of movie-making, it’s become a movie standard as well. If you don’t believe me, try telling me with a straight face that Marvel's Captain America sequels were all about our favorite shield-wielder.

YouTube videos proclaiming "Boba Benched" because TBoBF Episode 5 featured The Mandalorian have lost sight of the big picture the Favreau-Filoni Universe of Star Wars is painting. I'm betting we can expect more of this type of cross-over in the Ahsoka series too.

The only question we should be asking is this: Did this episode kick some serious butt??? And the answer to that, IMHO, is a resounding HELL YEAH, BABY!

This episode explains why the buzz during filming was that TBoBF was Mando Season 2.5.

Yeah that was pretty gnarly. There's been some heavy bits like that. Even though they were droids, the kitchen staff getting either their throat cut, head lopped off or scared into suicide struck me as fairly grisly too.

Then there was the Imperial pilot getting shot in the face at point blank range in Mando 16.

Damn I was giddy like a child when I saw Din appear and heard that theme sound! I've liked the show but I love this episode because of Din Djarin and the Mandalorian stuff. This was a bonus Mandalorian episode and I ain't complaining!

I like Boba but Din is truly my dude!

George Lucas once told Mark Hamill that Luke had to use both hands to fight with a saber as the energy running through it effectively multiplied its weight many times over. Mark was not thrilled to see the swordplay in the prequels make a mockery of that.

Is Filoni directing the next chapter? I thought Rodriguez directed quite a few in this series... anywho, my expectations will be tempered for the next chapter.

What a ride! While it was already spoiled in the last episode that the Mandalorian would turn up, I really didn't expect the whole episode to be focused solely on him! So brilliant, too. Struggling with the Dark Saber as a non-Force user, being banished from his sect, getting the Naboo Starfighter as his new ship... That test run on the original podracing circuit from Phantom Menace was phenomenal  wonder what kind of gift did he get made for Grogu and when will we see the kid again... Probably only in actual Season 3? I also must say that while I have enjoyed The Book of Boba Fett from the start, this episode proved that The Mandalorian still excites me much, much more!

I strongly disliked this episode, and I’m sorry to admit this because so many here seem to enjoy it.
For me it all comes down to:
    delay, delay, delay.
I would have no problem with Disney tossing in a Mandalorian season 2.5 teaser if BOBF was a traditional tv show with 20+ episodes. But there’s only seven, time is limited, especially as we’re getting down to the wire. Episode 4 ended with Boba Fett/Fennick Shand saying “we need muscle power.” And episode 5 ends with Fennick saying… “we need more muscle power.” Literally no progress, no forward momentum was made at all on the story front. And that should not be the case with two remaining episodes. I was left scratching my head thinking: What has the pyke syndicate done in the meantime? How many more pikes are on Tatooine? Has anyone made more assassination attempts on Boba’s life? Is there anyone else joining the cause? We don’t know.
Instead of focusing on story, filmmakers have chosen to go the safe route by giving fans pleasing cameos rather than what they need to show us to make the story functional and believable. Sure, the dark saber was cool (has nothing to do with the immediate story), nice to hear about baby yoda (has nothing to do with the immediate story.) Nice to see the armorer was still alive (has nothing to do with the immediate story.) There’s a time and place for everything, but this was not the time or place for Mandalorian stuff.
    Again, delay, delay, delay…
The last problem I had was the N-1 Naboo starfighter. I had known for months the ship was going to make an appearance and I was wildly anticipating the moment… However, after seeing it, I feel like I am still waiting to see it. They might as well have invented a brand new ship. I am starved for a new visual aesthetic, but instead they turned the most beautiful flying machine in SW into…another hunk of junk because a segment of the fandom love the “lived in” look. They took something unique in the prequels and removed everything that made it special in the first place. And my goodness, how much time in this episode was spent in a mechanic’s garage? This episode brought back bad memories of Star Wars Resistance, the animated show that Filoni promised to be about “exciting air racers” but was mostly spent in Kazuda Xiono’s workshop trying to remove rusted nuts and bolts.

So are we seeing Groku and Luke in the first s3 episode of Mandalorian then again later on or will Luke be like "alright, just taken him"?

Favreau/Filoni/Rodriguez have always been in complete control of how many episodes were ultimately going to be in TBoBF Season 1. Interestingly, the early buzz was that the show was only going to be four episodes long. Then we heard it would be six---then, when all was said and done, it turned out to be seven. You can rest assured that if the showrunners needed 'more time,' they would have added an eighth episode.

Like it or not, TBoBF and The Mandalorian are joined at the hip. Just as the premise of Boba's show was first set-up in The Mandalorian, TBoBF has the added responsibility of setting-up Season 3 of the Mandalorian. Yes, nothing happened on the Boba front in Episode 5, but we gained a helmet-full of important information to lead us fans into the return of The Mandalorian next Christmas.

As I said in an earlier post today, crossovers are now part of modern-day storytelling, especially when it comes to action adventure franchises like Marvel and Star Wars.

Yes, Filoni is directing the next episode then Rodriguez is returning to direct the finale.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another delay in the crime war as all indications are that the next episode will feature the reunion of Mando and Grogu. :) :) :)

And I'll be all for it too. I get why some aren't because it's suppose to be Boba's show and it does delay his story but I'm just more interested in Din and his adventures!

Visiting Grogu may be half the episode than all and I'm sure Boba will appear this time
