Will post more complete thoughts later, but everything and everyone looked incredible, so kudos to them for that.

I cannot believe that I just witnessed an Order 66 flashback, the Naboo Starfighter, Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, The Mandalorian, Grogu, Cobb Vanth, Cad Bane, Yoda…’s lightsaber, R2-D2 and a little bit of Boba and Fennec in a single episode from a live-action Star Wars show.

I’ll try to post more thoughts later, I’m going back to bed now haha.

The guy who Lucasfilm employed after his Luke deep fake was better than Luke in Mando has just earn't his crust.
    Absolutely perfection, the whole episode.

Wow. They REALLY have come a long way with Luke's appearance effects. Luke looked very satisfying. Though the CGI is still noticeable, my satisfaction with the progress made FAR out weighed any apprehensions I may have had concerning his appearance. Now I'm REALLY seeing where the money is going. Did we just get Ashoka and Luke? Oh myyyyy. Cad Bane? Dude is much more intimidating in live action then I'd imagined him. So so good.
@Lazarus Dei Looks like things didn't revolve around Garsa as we suspected. Bane?

What will you choose little Grogu? I almost want him to go for the chainmail. Almost. I wonder if we'll have to wait until Mando S3 to find out.

I don't know if I am more calm noe but here we are.

    Absolutely!! That was insane!

I thought the same. The improvement is sooo remarkable! Sometimes I was with my mouth open. Incredible.

    Absolutely.
I think it's time to make some adventure during OT events and put back together all characters.

Watching Luke with in his "first training", building that new Jedi Temple, talking with Ashoka, with all those little references from the past... was beautiful and amazing.

Boba Fett still has a problem in his own show. All other "big" characters, Din, Cad, Cobb, Luke, Ashoka, Grogu, including Fennec, are more interesting.
Or maybe has no problem. Maybe is where he belongs. Boba Fett was always cooler and better in the background, as a supporting character.
But I liked watching him again for a brief period of time. I like when shows have more than a couple of storylines and set the story in different places. Was cool watching different storylines here.

Must say, Cad Bane in BOBF is absolutely ASTONISHING! His presence and voice are SO BRUTAL! That was insane. What a character.

That decision for Grogu? Really really good, to mark his upcoming live. Setting his decision thinking in TM and ST, J think in one decision. But who knows. We will have to wait til Mando season 3.

Surely they have to go back and redo Luke in Mando Chapter 16. The improvement here was like the difference between a PS5 and a PS2's graphics.

What problem? It's not a contest.

I LOVED the way Cad glibly purred the line "Boba Fett is a cold blooded killer who worked with the Empire" through his teeth. Like it was rote. This series is approaching TLJ for its subtle meta-ness. It made me think of Rey's line. "Master Skywalker. We need you to come back because Kyo Ren is strong with the dark side..." Clearly showing the influence of Rian Johnson's guidance there Dave. :)

Oh Marshal Vanth! i've watched the stand off four times now. He should have dropped the hammer the second Cad began to move his duster out of the way.

And I'm LOLing at the obvious fake drink props that the droid is trying to serve to the Pykes before they leave and blow the joint up.

I would like to see hear the baby Boba...

Well, at least I didn't spend the whole episode faintly wondering when we were going to see Boba this time because I knew we'd get to him eventually...sort of. I really want Cobb Vanth to recover speedily so he can meet his new spray-painted armor with its proper fit. :D I might have rolled my eyes when I saw Cad Bane in the distance, but I quickly recanted. He was scary in live action. I can't wait till Fennec kicks his butt again. Or Boba, I'm not picky.

If you're going to go out, go out looking fabulous. RIP, Garsa Fwip.

I...am confused about why Ahsoka just dropped in to Luke's planet for ten minutes. (Obviously for fans to gaze upon her and Luke actually knowing each other, but I mean in-story... Just to be Luke's messenger seems ridiculous.)

I liked the deepfake Luke--much better than ep. 16, although there were still troubles with his mouth/speaking. But far less distracting. I like his gentleness with Grogu. The backpack was genius. ;) But I'm confused as to where he's going helping Grogu remember... I think the kid needs some actual therapy for that, Luke. You know what would be a great idea? Have this deeply traumatized toddler choose between this fancy weapon that I thought he was supposed to make himself and the nice shiny mithril coat beskar chainmail that his DAD brought him. Perfect plan. Maybe Din and Grogu are both on the same trajectory--choosing love over their oppressive cults. (Yep, you betcha, I went there.)

So anyway, I wonder if we'll have a two-hour finale with the Pyke war?

I agree. That is the Boba I grew up with. The Mando part of this series has been far more intriguing IMO than the main character though I am grateful we even have this show to begin with. I'm not the 'I want my cake and eat it to' type of sw fan. Yes. Boba is better to me as a little plastic collectible on my shelf - mystery intact. Things however do change.

De-aged Mark Hamill looks much, much better. Except for the hair. Even for 70s look, the hair is horrible. Like a helmet of hair, lol. But that is so minor complaint, it's barely worth mentioning. The episode was great.

My predictions? Pykes effed up with Marshal and Garsa. The Tatooine unites under Boba, the series ends on big pre-showdown stand off: the Syndicate on one side, everyone else under Boba on the other. See you in TBOBF Season 2.

And we won't know what Grogu chose until Season 3 of The Mandalorian. (Boooo!) I hope he chooses Mando. And I am saying that as Luke and jedi fangirl.

As soon as the Pykes placed the canister I could see where it was going, and I was properly surprised that it bumped Garsa from being the puppeteer I'd anticipated as it felt like a real possibility. I shouldn't be surprised though as my skills at predictions are clearly evident if you look at who's at the bottom of the Standings in the SW NFL game :D

Bane just works for the highest bidder - I don't see him being the big bad, he's just the other side's 'muscle'.

Second prediction: Boba Fett v. Cad Bane starts all-out war in the final episode. Of course, Boba wins.

    Right. It's no big deal
but clearly they just wanted Mandalorian to speak to someone in the scene. And they wanted Luke to talk to someone on screen. Luke and Mando don't really have a relationship so it would be awkward and get in the way. Plus Luke's busy with Grogu and they don't want Mando in close proximity with the kid. But Mando has a sort of relationship with Ahsoka and we can just pretend that she and Luke have already formed on, off screen. SEven though it was indicated previously that this would not be the case. So she has no solid reason to be there except for Mando and Luke to have dialogue with separately. And it's just batted away with double talk "Why are you here?" "I was going to ask you the same thing." (But she already knows why HE's there. In fact she'd predicted it and told Luke before, apparently).

Minor puzzle but I'm glad they did it any way.

Wish we got more R2. And Luke telling him to mind his language. Or Luke complimenting Din on his ship would have been a nice moment.

Yep. Something in me wants him to take the chainmail. It's obviously the underdog choice but IMO much more intriguing.

It's interesting that we are throwing Mando's given name around now, when it was such a big secret in season 1. I wonder if his name means something to someone out in the wider world, someone who knew Din's original family before he was a foundling.

I can't believe this episode exists. Filoni really delivered one of the greatest Star Wars moments of all time. It's amazing how much is crammed into this episode and it all works. Huge improvement on Luke. It's crazy how fast that technology is advancing. Ahsoka and Luke together! Cobb Vanth returns and faces Cad Bane.

Just a tremendous love letter to Star Wars fans. Bravo.

I gotta be honest, initially I'd assumed TBOBF was a one and done series, but unless the final episode is 90mins long I can't see how on earth they can tie all this up in one more chapter.

R2 chirping that he'd not seen one for 40yrs or that he'd flown in one would've been hilarious

    That's brilliant! :D

That would have been cool indeed. Maybe even using that interaction to drop the name of the ship would have been fun. The design of the ship obviously hints towards Grogu riding behind Din in under the new bubble. It also hints toward Din leaving the bounty hunter life in the past as the design does not befit the room needed to bring in living bounties. Cold heads? Yes. Warm bodies? Probably not.
